The office said the Initial investigation shows the cause of death to be a suicide due to a sphyxio(*g). The Marin County Coroner's Office said Williams was last seen alive at home at about 10 p.m. on Sunday. An emergency call from his house in Tiburon was placed to the Sheriff's Office shortly before noon on Monday.

【題目】Part drama, part dark comedy, new film To the Bone talks about a young woman’s struggle with anorexia(厭食癥). Though the film already got generally positive reviews at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, it has caused a hot Twitter debate around whether it could be harmful for those with eating disorders.

Critics of the film have focused on the leading role Ellen: a young, thin, white woman with anorexia. They think there’re some plots that have made eating disorders look like trends instead of life-threatening illnesses. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, anorexia has the highest mortality rate (死亡率) of any mental illness. Thirty million Americans struggle with eating disorders at some point in their lives.

Director Marti Noxon based the film on her own battle with anorexia. She was aware of the film’s potential to trigger harmful effects and then tried to be really careful in the way she showed how Ellen looked. “You want to help other people understand something that they’ve never experienced, but you also want people who have experienced it to feel understood and seen and to give people hope,” she added. “We were balancing a lot. I want to avoid the idea that the perfectionist quality of anorexics is their most obvious character.”

The film caught the attention of Liana Rosenman, who founded Project Heal, an organization that helps eating disorder sufferers afford treatment. “I thought it was very powerful,” Rosenman said. “There is a sense of humor and wittiness in it as well as just understanding what it’s like to have an eating disorder.” Project Heal recently played To the Bone in New York and Los Angeles, but it has faced sharp criticism from members of their community on social media.

1What do we know about the film To the Bone from Paragraph 1?

A. It tells the growth story about a girl.

B. It has received mixed comments.

D. Twitter users have no interest in it.

2What do Noxon’s words suggest?

A. She admitted the film is harmful to people.

B. She tried hard to make the film benefit people.

C. All those suffering from anorexia want to be perfect.

D. People who haven’t experienced anorexia can’t understand it.

3What’s Rosenman’s attitude towards the film?

A. Supportive B. Negative

C. Uncertain D. Unconcerned

4Where’s the passage probably from?

A. Medical magazine.

B. Healthy Life Style magazine.

C. A film review.

D. A newspaper report.

科目:高中英語(yǔ) 來(lái)源: 題型:

【題目】In Scotland, 600,000 tonnes of food are thrown away every year. This amount of food, which could as feed about 1.2 billion poor people, is almost a third of household (家庭) waste. And food waste isn't just a big problem in Scotland.

Money time, and resources (資源) are often wasted by throwing away good food. It also causes very harmful greenhouse gas, which is perilous to the planet.

In the production stage, some foods do not enter the food chain for many reasons. Supermarkets usually care about the quality of food from farms. They often refuse strange-looking and unusually sized produce. However, they seem to forget that it is almost impossible to grow the perfect produce. Food waste at the consumption (消費(fèi)) stage includes food going out of date and leftovers (剩飯) because of too much food. In households, even mostly fresh fruit and vegetables are thrown away.

In order to reduce food waste, here is what we can do:

Understanding the terms “use by” and “best before” dates. “Use by” dates are there for your safety. It is dangerous to eat food after the use-by date and doing so risks your health. “Best before” dates tell you how long the food will be at its best quality. Once the food passes the date, it isn't necessarily bad, but you should still check, just to be sure.

Every time you go shopping and you bring back new food, put them at the back of your fridge and bring the food that will expire (到期) soon closer to the front. That way, you know what needs to be eaten first.

If you have any food that will expire soon, give it to charity if you aren't going to eat it. They will really appreciate the food you have given.

1What does the underlined word “perilous” in Paragraph 2 mean?

A. Valuable. B. Dangerous.

C. Different. D. Unnecessary.

2What should people do to reduce food waste according to the text?

A. Pick usually sized produce.

B. Improve the quality of farm produce.

C. Order produce directly from farmers.

D. Avoid buying too much food at a time.

3What advice does the author offer to people?

A. Buy food that will expire soon to reduce waste.

B. Throw away food that passes the best-before date.

C. Place food carefully according to its expiry date.

D. Give food that has passed its use-by date to charity.
