On the day of the wedding, I arrived at the temple in good time and started to anyone I knew. I saw no one and went to sit cross-legged quietly in a corner, waiting. Kalyani was escorted (簇?fù)? in. From where I was sitting, I could not see but I thought she had a little since she left school. She looked a little fat now and wore glasses. I my head. Anyway I down to wait for the long ritual. As soon as the wedding was over, a line formed to the couple and I joined in. When I arrived and handed her the , she looked up and a beautiful smile and only then did I realize that the was entirely mine: it was not Kalyani at all. I had just attended the wedding. To my shock, I smiled broadly. , I was treated like a guest: the couple each have thought I was the other's guest.
Then I went to look for the correct wedding party in the area. Sure enough there stood Kalyani. As I was walking up to her, I realized I was in deep : I had just given the present meant for her to a complete stranger.

1.A. in case“萬一”;B. even if“即使”;C. so that“為了…;結(jié)果是…”;D. as if“仿佛,好像”。
2.A. fortunately“幸運(yùn)地”;B. frequently“時(shí)常、經(jīng)常”;C. impossibly“不可能”; D. Hardly“幾乎不”。 彼詔here is后乘前省略了confusion,該空要填一副詞來修飾is,根據(jù)句意此處填B. frequently“時(shí)常、經(jīng)常”。
4.A. finally“最終”;B. immediately“立即”;C. suddenly“突然”;D. naturally“自然地”。
5.borrowed an Indian style shirt. C. dress.
6.A. talk to“和…談話”;B. look for“尋找”;C. say hello to“和…打招呼”;D. shake hands with“和… B. look for.
7.A. carefully“仔細(xì)地”B. clearly“清晰地”C. completely“完全地”D. easily“容易地”根據(jù)本段后半部分出現(xiàn)的,我發(fā)現(xiàn)“it was not Kalyani at all”。 Clearly.
8.A. experienced“經(jīng)歷”;B. learned“學(xué)到”;C. suffered“遭受苦難”;D. changed“改變”,根據(jù)語境,尤其是下一句“She looked a little fat now”(她現(xiàn)在看起來有點(diǎn)胖了),所以,該空填D.changed.(我覺得她“變”了一些)。
故正確答案為A.shook.
10.A. slowed (down)“放慢,減速”;B. looked (down)“俯視”;C. calmed(down)“鎮(zhèn)定下來”D. settled down“坐下來;安頓下來”,在該情景中,無論如何我還是“坐了下來”等待著婚禮的儀式。 D. settled down.
11.D. congratulate.(congratulate sb“祝賀某人”)。
C. present.
14.it was not Kalyani at all. D.surprise.
15.A. noisy“嘈雜的、喧鬧的”;B. wrong“錯誤的”C. strange“奇怪的、陌生的”D. splendid“極好的、壯麗的”,根據(jù)前一句“…it was not Kalyani at all.
B. hide.
17.A. Otherwise“否則”;B. Moreover“而且”;C. Therefore“所以”;D. The water was cold but I took a shower anyway.
A. waiting.

In every school there is a "top" crowd that sets the pace, while the others follow their lead. For example, the top crowd decides that it is smart to wear bright red sweaters. Very soon everybody is wearing a bright red sweater.
There is nothing wrong with that, except the fact that bright red is not suitable on some people at all.
The situation can even become dangerous, if the top crowd decides that it is smart to drink or to drive cars at 70 miles an hour. Then the people who follow the lead are causing danger to people's lives. They are like sheep being led to the slaughterhouse (屠宰場).
Perhaps you have come across situations like these more than once in your life. In fact, at one time or another you probably did something you knew to be wrong. You may have excused yourself by saying, "The crowd does it." Well, let the crowd do it, but don't do it yourself. Learn to say, "No." Make your own judge (判斷). If you know the crowd is planning something with which you disagree, have the courage to leave them politely. You'll have the satisfaction of standing on your own feet.
1. The writer disapproves of wearing red sweaters if _____.
A. the crowd is wearing them

B. will lose friends
C. sometimes do things against their better judgment
D. finally become pace-setters in their own right
4. The main idea of this passage is that ____.
A. in every school there is a "top" crowd that sets the pace
B. it is a mistake to follow the "top" crowd blindly
C. at one time or another you probably did something you knew to be wrong

Hurricane Sandy was a hurricane that destroyed parts of the Caribbean and the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern United States during late October 2012, with minor impacts in the Southeastern and Midwestern states and Eastern Canada. Sandy, classified as the eighteenth named storm and tenth hurricane of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season, was a Category 2 storm at its peak intensity. While it was a Category 1 storm off the coast of the Northeastern United States, the storm became the largest Atlantic hurricane on record. Previous estimates of losses due to damage and business interruption are estimated at $65.6 billion, which would make it the second-costliest Atlantic hurricane, behind only Hurricane Katrina. At least 253 people were killed along the path of the storm in eight countries.
Sandy developed from a tropical wave in the western Caribbean Sea on October 22, quickly strengthened, and was upgraded to Tropical Storm six hours later. Sandy moved slowly northward toward the Greater Antilles and gradually becoming stronger. On October 24, Sandy became a hurricane, made landfall near Kingston, Jamaica, a few hours later, entered into the Caribbean Sea again and strengthened into a Category 2 hurricane. On October 25, Sandy hit Cuba, and then weakened to a Category 1 hurricane. Early on October 26, Sandy moved through the Bahamas. On October 27, Sandy briefly weakened to a tropical storm and then restrengthened to a Category 1 hurricane. Early on October 29, Sandy turned from north to northwest and then moved ashore near Atlantic City, New Jersey, as a post-tropical cyclone with hurricane-force winds.
In the United States, Hurricane Sandy affected 24 states, including the entire eastern seaboard from Florida to Maine and west across the Appalachian Mountains to Michigan and Wisconsin, with particularly severe damage in New Jersey and New York. Its storm hit New York City on October 29, flooding streets, tunnels and subway lines and cutting power in and around the city. Damage in the US is estimated at over $63 billion.
1.According to the passage, which of the following wind forms is the strongest?
