This morning on my way home I was deep moved by what I saw outside a bank. An old lady in rag was counting her money when a young man ran into her by accident, lead to the money flying off. Everyone at nearby quickly picked up the money and gave them back to her. The old lady counted money again and find not a single bill was missing. The old lady was very content with that the strangers had done for her so she bowed to them but said thank you again and again. It was clear that the old lady was much touched by the people’s kind.

分析句子可知,lead在句中應(yīng)使用非謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞形式,其邏輯主語(yǔ)是前文內(nèi)容“when a young man ran into her by accident”,lead與邏輯主語(yǔ)之間是主動(dòng)關(guān)系,所以用現(xiàn)在分詞作結(jié)果狀語(yǔ)。

故將them改為it

故在money前加the/her。

分析句子可知,with后是賓語(yǔ)從句,從句中缺少賓語(yǔ),表示“做的事”,應(yīng)使用what引導(dǎo)賓語(yǔ)從句,that引導(dǎo)賓語(yǔ)從句時(shí)不作成分,只起連接作用。故將that改為what。

句意:所以她向他們鞠躬,并且一遍遍地說(shuō)感謝!she bowed to them”和“said thank you again and again”之間是并列關(guān)系,應(yīng)使用and連接,故將but改為and。

When photographer Simon Czapp took pictures of a curious five-month-old fox, he soon realized this little fox was attracted by his subject. The clever fox was so curious about the camera equipment that she climbed on top of it. And while she was supposed to be the subject of the shoot, the fox stood on the shutter release button (快門按鈕) and took her own frames.

Mr. Czapp visited the New Forest Wildlife Park to capture images of new arrival Jessie. Jessie is a lovely little fox. She has been at the animal park in Ashurst, Hampshire—home to wolves, deer and others in 25 acres of ancient woodland after being abandoned by her mother.

Mr. Czapp said, “Jessie was very playful and curious and not shy at all in front of the camera. Soon after I arrived she was chewing my shoes and everything seemed to be a game to her. Then she started exploring the camera I had set up on a tripod (三腳架). She stood on her back legs to look at the back of the camera. She balanced her front paws on it and at one point knocked it over. ”

He put the camera back on the tripod and Jessie soon jumped back up. At one point she had all four paws on the camera and was keeping her balance. Mr. Czapp added, “She jumped up there several times and I realized it could make a good picture. As I was leaving away with the public’s viewing window (取景窗) behind me, I thought I heard the camera go off but didn’t think much of it. However, when I checked the memory card afterwards, I was amazed to see Jessie had actually taken two frames of me photographing her. I couldn’t believe I had been outfoxed (智取) by a fox! 【題目】Is Your Diet Destroying the Environment?

A vegetarian diet is often praised for its health benefits. Studies have shown that vegetarians usually have lower levels of heart disease and a lower risk of diabetes than people who eat meat. What most people are less aware of, however, are the effects that a vegetarian diet can have on the environment.

Researchers from the Union of Concerned Scientists in the US recently studied how consumer behavior affects the environment. The study showed that meat consumption is one of the main ways that humans can damage the environment, second only to the use of motor vehicle.

Then, how can eating meat have a negative effect on the environment? For a start, all farm animals such as cows, pigs, and sheep give off methane (沼氣) gas by expelling (排出) wind from their bodies. One cow can produce up to 60 liters of methane each day. Methane gas is the second most common greenhouse gas after carbon dioxide. Many environmental experts now believe that it is more responsible for global warming than carbon dioxide. It is estimated that 25% of all methane released into the atmosphere comes from farm animals.

Another way that meat production affects the environment is through the use of water and land. 2,500 gallons of water are needed to produce one pound of beef, whereas 20 gallons of water are needed to produce one pound of wheat. One acre of farmland used for crop production can produce 40,000 pounds of potatoes, 30,000 pounds of carrots, or 50,000 pounds of tomatoes.

Many people now see the benefits of switching to a vegetarian diet, not just for health reasons, but also because it plays a vital role in protecting the environment. However, some nutritionists advise against switching to a totally strict vegetarian, or vegan diet. They believe a vegan diet, which excludes all products from animal sources, such as cheese, eggs, and milk, can be short of many necessary vitamins and minerals our bodies need.

Today, many people know it’s important to take better care of their bodies and to use the earth’s resources more efficiently. As this understanding spreads, more people may realize that to help the environment and for the human race to survive, more of us will need to become vegetarians.

1The underlined word “it” in Para.3 refers to ___________.

A.methane gasB.carbon dioxide

C.expelling windD.greenhouse gas

2Many figures are used in Para.4 to show ___________.

A.growing tomatoes has the highest production

B.crop production is better than meat production

C.meat production consumes too much water and land

D.farm animals are the main producer of the methane gas

3What message does the passage want to convey?

A.Our diet is destroying the surroundings.

B.Raising farm animals affects the environment.

C.A vegetarian diet helps to protect the environment.

D.More and more people are becoming strict vegetarians.
