One possible version:
Dear Jane,
I’m sorry to hear that you are not very well these days. In your letter you asked me how to stay healthy. Here is my advice.
Firstly, you should keep a balanced diet. You should avoid eating food high in fat and too much sweet food. You’d better eat more fresh vegetables and fruits. Secondly, taking exercise every day helps building a strong body. Why not take more exercise in your spare time? As we all know, regular exercise is an important part of keeping us healthy. Finally, make sure you have enough sleep and you mustn’t stay up too late at night.
By eating properly and exercising regularly, you can keep your body at a proper weight and stay healthy. I truly hope my advice is helpful and you’ll get well soon.
Best wishes.
Yours sincerely.
Lihua

文中運用了許多固定短語,如keep a balanced diet, had better do ,in one’s spare time,As we all know, keeping healthy, get well等,這些都顯示了作者平時良好的積累;使用連接詞,如firstly, secondly, finally使得文章結(jié)構(gòu)很清晰;動名詞做主語的使用,如taking exercise every day helps…、反問句的使用,如Why not take more exercise …、by做狀語的使用,如By eating properly and exercising regularly等,都為文章增色不少。
問題說明:
文章有一處略顯Chinglish,如In your letter you asked me how to stay healthy,明顯是用中文思維來思考的。此外,本文基本上都是使用短句,這使得文章很平淡 ,不夠出采。
考點:書信類作文。

In the United States, 30 percent of the people have a “weight problem”. To many people, the cause is obvious: they eat too much. But scientific evidence (證據(jù)) does little to support this idea. Going back to America of 1910, we find that people were thinner than today, yet they ate more food. In those days people worked harder physically, walked more, used machines much less, and didn’t watch television.
Several modern studies, moreover, have shown that fatter people don’t eat more on average than thinner people. A 1979 study of 3,545 London office workers showed that fat people eat less than slim (苗條的) people.
Studies also show that slim people are more active than fat people. A study by a research group at Stanford University found the following interesting facts:
The more the man ran, the greater loss of the body fat.
The more they ran, the greater increase in food intake.
Thus, those who ran the most ate the most, yet lost the greatest amount of body fat.
1.Nowadays many Americans have the problem that ______.
A.they lose too much body fat B.they work too hard
C.they are too fat D.they are too slim
2.According to the passage, how many people in 900 Americans have a “weight problem”?
A.150. B.300. C.600. D. 270.
3.Is there any scientific evidence to support the idea that eating too much is the cause of a “weight problem”?
A.We are not sure.
B.Of course, there is some evidence to support this.
C.There is hardly any scientific evidence to support this.
D.Yes, there is plenty of evidence.
4.The Americans in 1910 ________.
A.had more problems
B.a(chǎn)te less food but had more physical activities
C.a(chǎn)te less food and had less physical activities
D.a(chǎn)te more food and had more physical activies

Have you still remember what happened when you went to school on the first day? I still remember my interesting first day of school . On that day, I hurried to my science class in the morning and found a seat in the back. I waited there for 15 minutes before the bell rang. The science teacher told us about some class rules. No one talked to me nor did I talk to anyone else. I was one of those very shy girls. After the science class, I had an English class. I thought it would be boring but it turned out to be very funny. When the classes of the morning ended I went to lunch. I sat outside the dining room with no one to talk to and no food because I was too nervous to join the lunch line. She ended up being my best friend and one of the kindest and liveliest girls I know.
In the next class meeting, the teacher asked us to talk about the past holiday. I was glad to make some new friends in the class. The first day of high school was hard for me but I got through it.
