Getting paid to talk about the World Cup is a great job. I' m not a football commentator (評(píng)論員), though - just an English teacher in Japan.
I came to Japan two years ago, and didn' t think I would stay, but Japan has that effect on you. People often end up living here longer than they planned. I think it' s best to teach, in a bigger city where there are other foreigners to mix with, rather than a small town where English teachers often complain of feeling like a goldfish in a bowl. Many people choose to live in Tokyo, of course, which is good for the nightlife factor. But I' d say that for general quality of living, cities of neither too large nor too small, like Sapporo where I live, are better choices.
I teach English privately, which means I' m my own boss. If you want to devote yourself to private teaching, it's well worth doing a TEFL course first, because your lessons will be much better for it. The problem with private teaching is finding students; it took me a year to build up a full schedule (日程表) of private lessons, so I started out teaching in schools part-time.
Most of my foreign friends here work full-time for big English conversation schools. The salary is fine to live on, but whether you can save money depends on how much going out and traveling you do here.
The schools are reluctant to take time off - even teachers with tickets for the England-Argentina game had trouble getting the day off.
1. From the passage we know in Japan the writer likes to live in ________.
A. Tokyo B. a small town C. a city of middle size D. a big city
2. According to the writer, one had better ________ first to do private teaching better.
A. take a TEFL course B. decide his or her own lessons
C. find students D. build up a full schedule
3. The underlined sentence in the second paragraph implies that ________.
A. there are many foreigners in Japan B. Japan is good for nightlife
C. they can teach English privately in Japan
D. Japan has something more attractive than expected
4. The underlined word “reluctant” in the passage may probably mean ________.
A. kind B. unwilling C. free D. careless

You probably have lists of remember and steps to follow in order to have the best pet-friendly trip. There are, however, a few things that are best left at home. Here are a few things to forget when you’re traveling with pets.Forgetting them will make your trip run more smoothly and more effectively.
Time
Traveling with pets will take longer and will have unexpected turns. In reality, forgetting about time means leaving impatience behind.Don't be in a rush.Your pets will require more extra stops than you will, and they'll often surprise you with unpredictable delays.Plan on leaving early and arriving later and you'll be right on time.
Anger
Getting angry at the delay will only make matters worse.Your feelings can add unnecessary stresses to you and your pets’ travel experience. If you feel yourself becoming out of control, stop and take a deep breath.Your pets have little control over their emotions, bowel movements, or motion sickness when traveling.Remember to be kind and understanding at all times, especially when under pressure.
Work Attitude
This may seem like a no-brainer, but when you are traveling, leave your work attitude behind.Traveling is not a task to be accomplished; it can be an enjoyable and memorable experience for both you and your pets as long as you have the right attitude.
Control
Part of the joy of traveling with pets is dealing with the unexpected. You can't control everything and trying to do so will only end in frustration and anger.Knowing that things will happen beyond your control will bring great relief to you and your pets.Messes happen; accidents happen.Once you accept that, traveling with your pets will be far easier to manage.
Selfishness
Traveling with pets often requires an extreme amount of selflessness.Your pets rely on you to take care of their needs, and sometimes you will need to put their needs before your own.Leave your selfish ambitions behind when traveling with your pets. They need your attention and care more than anything else because of the stresses and strains of traveling.
Traveling with pets can and will be a joy if you remember to leave these five items behind. It can be difficult at times to handle, but the traveling will go well if you can manage to do so.

Getting to Now: How to Beat the Procrastination Habit
I am a procrastinator(拖拉者). I always have been. I've tried all sorts of things to beat the habit. Here are some techniques I've been using to try to force myself to get to now:
Set aside blocks of time to do things. When I was talking with my wellness coach earlier this year, she asked me why I didn't exercise more often. “ ,” I said. “Something always comes up.” She wasn’t impressed. “J.D.,” she said, “You have to make time. Make an appointment with yourself to run or to go for a bike ride.” The same principle applies to other things you might procrastinate.
. Often I’ll be sitting on the back porch reading a book, and it will occur to me that some chore needs to be done — mending the fence, for example. “ ,” I tell myself. Wrong! What usually happens is that I forget to write it down, and even if I do, I just look at the list and procrastinate for weeks on end. The best move is to actually do the chore when I think of it. (Assuming, of course, that I have the time at that moment, which I usually do.)
Use a timer to bring you back to reality. Part of the reason I procrastinate is that I'm a daydreamer. . One way to keep on track is to use a timer. I use the Ultrak Jumbo Countdown Timer, but not as often as I should. I set it for 48 minutes. When it goes off, : Am I doing what I'm supposed to be doing?
Do not multitask. I often start many things at once, but I never actually do any of them. In order for me to get something done, I need to focus my attention on it. Trying to do several things at once is a sure way to be sure they'll all be unfinished tomorrow.
A. I’m always lost in thought
B. it brings me back to reality
C. If it comes to mind, then do it
D. I don’t have the time
E. it serves as an instant reality check
F. Do it right away if you are asked to do something
G. I need to write that down so I can remember it
