Last week, our school had organized an activity to climb the West Mountain. As soon as we arrived at the foot of a mountain, we set out for the summit in high spirits. During the climb, we had such much difficulty passing the rocky areas. But under the teacher’s help, we eventually reached the top, where we greeted by the bright sunshine and fresh air. Seeing from the top, the city was extreme beautiful. This event turned out to be very success. My friend Julie had been trying to lose weight for years. She was so afraid of being laughed by others that she went on one diet after others, but none of them real worked. She felt sad and hopeless about herself. I encouraged her to turn to his doctor for help. Finally, she followed her doctor's advices and began to eat a simple and balanced diet. My uncle was the biology professor. When I was young he was used to take me to the biology lab, when I saw pigs, cats and other animals. My uncle also influenced me through nature walks. He often takes me for a walk in the backyard. We would catch frogs and snake, and find fireflies in the sky. He seemed know everything about wildlife. Eighteen years later, think about my uncle and her influence on my life, I feel very lucky. I am grateful that I got the chance to learn for him. He helped me develop my interest in all that was alive and sometimes death around me.

There are various reasons why people write poetry. Some poems tell a story and describe something in a way that will give the reader a strong impression. Others try to convey certain emotion. Poets use different forms of poetry to express them. The nursery rhymes may not make sense of and even seem contradictory. List poems have a flexible line length and repeating phrases what give both a pattern and a rhythm to the poem. The cinquain and haiku can give clear picture use the minimum of words.
