Over forty percent of Americans worry about losing eyesight, but it’s easy to include steps into our daily life to ensure healthy eyes. Here are five suggestions for a lifetime of healthy eyesight:

●Schedule yearly exams. 1Experts advise parents to bring babies 6 to 12 months of age to the doctor for a careful check. The good news is that millions of children now can have yearly eye exams and following treatment, including eyeglasses.

●Protect against UV rays (紫外線). Long-term stay in the sun creates risk to your eyes. No matter what the season is, it’s extremely important to wear sunglasses. 2

●Give your eyes a break. Two-thirds of Americans spend up to seven hours a day using computers or other digital products. 3Experts recommend that people practice the 20/20/20 rule: every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break and look at something 20 feet away.

4As part of a healthy diet, eat more fruits and vegetables each day. Vitamins (維生素) C and E help protect eyesight and promote eye health.

●Practice safe wear and care of contact lenses (隱形眼鏡). Many Americans use contact lenses to improve their eyesight. 【題目】Parents may think they’re smart about where they store medicines, but their kids are smarter. Nearly 60,000 young children are rushed to the hospital every year after getting into medicines not meant for them, according to a new report from Safe Kids Worldwide.

The report finds little connection between what parents know about storing medicines safely and what they actually do. Nine out of 10 parents know that medicines should be stored up and away and out of reach and sight, but 7 out of 10 of them admit not doing that. They leave medicines out on kitchen counters, sinks and sofas, believing babies and toddlers (學(xué)步的兒童) aren’t tall enough or strong enough to reach them. Unfortunately, they probably can. Children as young as a month have ended up in an emergency department because they have been poisoned by getting into a medicine that was left within reach.

Most poisonings related to medicines — particularly among babies and toddlers —occur within their home. Kids develop rapidly and they want to explore their environment. At certain ages they have a lot of activities using their hands and mouths, and so it’s very common for them to explore their environment and then try to taste what they find.

The new Safe Kids Worldwide report includes a survey of 2,000 parents with children under age 6. While the number of children visiting an emergency department for accidental poisonings has declined since the 2010 maximum, the decline has slowed in recent years.

Prescription and over-the-counter medicines cause the most severe poisonings, but vitamins and supplements (補(bǔ)給品) can also cause problems. There are steps families can take to lower the risk for an accidental medicine poisoning.

There are so many expressions in American English that sound pleasant but are not. When someone says they have to “face the music” , it does not mean they are going to a concert. “Facing the music” means to accept and deal with the punishment of an action.

And you lose control of the car and drive it into a stop sign. Bang!
When your returns you must tell her what you have done and “face the music”It could be losing her friendship or paying for repairs to her sports to her sports car or both.
To “take your medicine” means to accept the results from something bad you have done. And if someone says, “You made your bed. Now lie in it” they mean you created a bad station and now you will experience the results.
A. But you do not listen.
B. “Face the music ”is a good example.
C. The “music ” here is the result of your actions.
D. American often use the word “face” in this way.
E. Everyone likes to enjoy a concert in the evening.
