Having spring around makes you feel different after such a long winter journey. The power of sunshine brings us a lot of comfort, optimism, self-confidence and of course a smile. Imagine how great it will be if we are so positive all year round!

Living like this is possible if you really think about it. In order to exist in such a state of happiness, we must have sunshine radiating from within ourselves, shining from our hearts, minds and souls. Actually, that’s your choice, and if you think that way then your own life will reflect that attitude of yours!

In order to make “sunshine” or rather, “l(fā)ight” part of our being, it is so important that you watch your thoughts, your words and your actions so that you will accept what you really feel you’d like to create in your own life. Watch your thoughts and really become aware of how many negative thoughts pass through your mind about yourself and other people around you. Watch to see how often you gossip (說閑話)about other people, which is actually often attached with feelings of jealousy (妒忌)and insecurity about yourself.

You are also supposed to take a close look at your “intention”. How many of you do something for another person without expecting to receive something in return? It might not even have to be a material or physical thing you expect; expecting to be recognized for what you have done is enough to create conditions on Having spring around makes you feel differentyour intention. Think about it!

Putting all of these together, it seems that most of us are creating monsters inside us just by simply talking, thinking and not putting our heart out with the right intention towards helping someone else. If you take all your negative attitudes in one hand and measure your need to feel “sunshine“ in the other, you will see how both these elements really contradict each other.

Be brave and break your patterns and your habits this spring, and by doing so,you will allow the true sunshine to take place by radiating out from your heart and into your life and the lives of the people around you!

1.You can have sunshine shining from your inside .

A. by measuring what you need

B. by helping someone else

C. by watching what you think, say and do

D. by changing your intention

2. According to the writer, you don t feel secure about yourself when you .

A. gossip about other people

B. take a close look at your intention

C. expect to be recognized for what you’ve done

D. become aware of your negative thoughts

3.What can be inferred from the passage?

A. Expecting something in return for our help isn’t the right intention.

B. Breaking our patterns is the most important to get true sunshine.

C. If we don-t intend to help others, we create monsters inside us.

D. Negative attitudes have little to do with happiness.

4.The passage is written mainly to _ .

A. stress the importance of the positive life style

B. analyze the intentions and thoughts in our mind

C. offer advice on having sunshine from our inside

D. warn us about the bad effects of negative attitudes

My parents knew their wealth: each other, their six children, and their faith. They tried to live simple lives so that they could have time for what was most important.

They didn’t busy themselves buying a bigger house, because that would mean working harder to pay the monthly mortgage(按揭貸款),working overtime or taking second job. Who would go running with me then? Who would read stories to me?

They didn’t burden themselves with buying an expensive car because that would mean worrying about installment(分期付款) bills. Besides, walking to the shopping centre every Saturday afternoon with me gave my dad his needed exercise, and made me feel so special.

One of my heart’s delights was seeing Dad and Mom in their bedroom at night, after our nightly family prayer. The lights were turned off, and I’d see the figure of my father seated on his old chair and Mom standing behind him, gently massaging(按摩) his shoulders. I’d hear them talk about what happened during their day. Even as a child, I sensed their quiet pleasure in being together.

My question today: Could they have done this rich ritual(儀式) each night and nourished(滋潤) their marriage if they had been busy paying for expensive clothes for themselves or their kids, or if they had been worrying about monthly bills for new hi-tech equipment? I don’t think so. And I’ve made a choice: I don’t want that of life either.

1.Which of the following is TRUE about the author’s family?

A. There were six people in the family.

B. They decided to buy a bigger house.

C. They lived an easy and happy life.

D. They had a second-hand car.

2.What did the parents regularly do with the author?

A. They wrote stories together.

B. They read newspapers together.

C. They regularly took exercise together.

D. They went shopping together each day.

3. The author believed that his/her parents’ happiness was due to(由于, 歸功于)

A. their attitude towards life

B. their love for each other

C. their common interests

D. their ability to communicate with each other

4. It can be inferred from the last paragraph that the author __________.

A. got bored with his/her parents’ way of educating kids

B. was influenced by his/her parents’ lifestyle

C. didn’t want to follow his/her parents’ advice

D. didn’t want to live the same life as his/her parents

Teachers say the digital age has had a good influence - and a not-so-good influence - on this generation of American teenagers.More than 2,000 teachers took an online survey.Three-quarters of the teachers said the Internet and digital search tools have had a "mostly positive" effect on their students' research habits and skills. But 64 percent said the technologies "do more to distract(使 - - - ---分心) students than to help them academically." And 87 percent agreed that these technologies are creating an "easily distracted generation with short attention spans."

The Pew Internet Project did the survey with the National Writing Project.Judy Buchanan is the vice director of the National Writing Project and a co-author of the report.Ms.Buchanan says digital research tools are helping students learn more and faster."Teachers really favor these tools because they are ways to make some of the learning exciting and engaging.Young people favor these tools. The goal is to really help them become creators of meaningful content, and not just sort of consumers."

But one problem the survey found is that many students lack digital literacy. They trust too muck of the information they find on the Internet.Judy says these students haven't developed the skills to determine the quality of online information."It's something that really has to be taught and paid attention to.Because in a world in which things happen quickly, you do need to step back, reflect and analyze the information you have."

Another problem is blamed on something that might not seem like a problem at all: being able to quickly find information online.Teachers say the result is a reduction in the desire and ability of their students to work hard to find answers. They say students are overly dependent on search engines and do not make enough use of printed books or research libraries.

Many teachers are also concerned that the Internet makes it easy for students to copy work done by others instead of using their own abilities.

1.The text mainly tells us _________.

A. all the students use digital tools

B. the Internet is playing a key role

C. digital tools bring about benefits and problems

D. teachers encourage using digital tools

2.Which of the following best shows the structure of the text?

3.The underlined sentence in the third paragraph probably means _________.

A. students do not have the right digital tools

B. students can’t judge online information properly

C. students haven’t the ability to adjust themselves

D. students do not always have access to the Internet

4.Some students don’t tend to work hard because _________.

A. they can copy each others’ work without being punished

B. printed books and libraries around aren’t enough

C. the Internet can’t make students concentrate

D. they can get answers on the Internet quickly
