11.Making Peace with Your Parents
As a teen,you are going through big changes physically and mentally.Your interests are expanding.(36)F
Here is the challenge:Kids need to explore the world in new ways, and parents need to protect
them from the dangers that are all out in that world.(37)B   Sometimes conflicts can't be avoided.But by paying attention to the building blocks of successful relationships,you can work towards making home a happy and healthy place for you and your parents.
For instance,try to find a time to talk when your parents are not angry,tired,distracted,or hungry.A good time to talk is when you are all relaxed.Timing is everything.If the conversation begins to turn into an argument,you'd better calmly and coolly ask to stop the conversation----for now.You can pick it up again when everyone's more relaxed.Listen to what your parents are saying,and repeat it back to them.This shows them that you're listening.(38)A
Respect is the building block of good communication.People who respect each other and care about each other's feelings can disagree without getting things ugly.
(39)E  How do you build trust?Trust comes by actually doing what you say you're going to do.Some teens find that doing fun activities with their parents can improve their relationships.Sometimes we forget that parents are more than rule-makers----they're interesting people who like to watch movies and go shopping----just like their teenagers!
What do you do if you are trying your best,but your relationship with your parents continues to be rocky(不穩(wěn)定的)?(40)G  You can find supportive adults,such as a teacher or a coach,who can lead an ear.
Remember you can only change your own behavior.Your parents are the only ones who can change theirs.

A.It also gives them a chance to clear things up if you're not on the same page.
B.These conflicts can easily set off fireworks in otherwise calm house.
C.And then you will be able to accept what your parents say.
D.Faced with the challenge,children don't know what to do.
E.You are more likely to get along with your parents and have more independence if your parents believe in you.
F.And your desire to take control of your own life is growing.
G.You may consider seeking outside help.

1.Kids will often ignore(忽視) your requests for them to shut off the TV,start their chores,or do their homework as a way to avoid following your directions.Before you know it,you've started to sound like a broken record as you repeatedly ask them to do their assignments,clean their rooms,or take out the trash.Rather than saying,"Do your chores now."You'll be more effective if you set a target time for when the chores have to be completed.So instead of arguing about starting chores,just say,"If chores aren't done by 4p.m.,here are the consequences."Then it's up to your child to complete the chores.Put the ball back in their court.Don't argue or fight with them,just say,"That's the way it's going to be."It shouldn't be punitive(懲罰性的)as much as it should be persuasive."If your chores aren't done by 4p.m.,then no video game time until chores are done.And if finishing those chores runs into homework  time,that's  going to be your loss."On  the other hand,when dealing with homework,keep it very simple.Have a time when homework starts,and at that time,all electronics go off and do not go back on until you see that their homework is done.If your kids say they have no home-work,then they should use that time to study or read.Either way,there should be a time set aside when the electronics are off.
When a kid wears his iPod or headphones when you're trying to talk to him,make no bones about it;he is not ignoring you,he is disrespecting you.At that point,everything else should stop until he takes the earplugs out of his ears.Don't try to communicate with him when he's wearing headphones--even if he tells you he can hear you.Wearing them while you're talking to him is a sign of disrespect.Parents should be very tough about this kind of thing.Remember mutual respect becomes more important as children mature.

3.I first met Paul Newman in 1968,when George Roy Hill, the director of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,introduced us in New York City. When the studio didn't want me for the film-it wanted somebody as well known as Paul-he stood up for me.I don't know how many people would have done that;they would have listened to their agents or the studio powers.
The friendship that grew out of the experience of making that film and The Sting four years later had its root in the fact that although there was an age difference,we both came from a tradition of theater and live TV.We were respectful of craft(技藝)and focused on digging into the characters we were going to play. Both of us had the qualities and virtues that are typical of American actors:humorous, aggressive, and making fun of each other-but always with an underlying affection. Those were also at the core (核心)of our relationship off the screen.
We shared the belief that if you're fortunate enough to have success, you should put something back-he with his Newman's Own food and his Hole in the Wall camps for kids who are seriously ill,and me with Sundance and the institute and the festival.Paul and I didn't see each other all that regularly, but sharing that brought us together. We supported each other financially and by showing up at events.
I last saw him a few months ago. He'd been in  and out of the hospital. He and I both knew what the deal was,and we didn't talk about it.Ours was a relationship that didn't need a lot of words.

A.They were of the same age.
B.They worked in the same theater.
C.They were both good actors.
D.They had similar characteristics.

A.Their belief.

27.What is the author's purpose in writing the test?B
A.To show his love of films.
