Dear Editor,
I'm a middle school student naming Li Ming.I'm writing to tell you something.Recently I've notiecd many of my classmates often to go to the cyber cafe (網(wǎng)吧) near our school.The other day I went here,too.I was surprised to see many students played computer games,seeing films or chatting.Some students were even talking about love affairs online.On my opinion,cyber cafes should be a place which we can find much useful informations.Internet should be a window to the outside world rather than a place for games.Internet is good if we make good use it.Otherwise,it will do us great harm.So the local government should take measure to make sure that students use cyber cafes positive.

1.Australia is known as the"lucky country"with its sunny zones,beautiful beaches and relaxed lifestyle.But did you know that it is also a"happy"country,at least according to well-being measures?
In fact,Australia scores above average in almost all of the 11well-being dimensions measured by the OECD Better Life Index.It does exceptionally well on the environment and health.Australians breathe some of the cleanest air,with far less of the tiny particulate matter that gets into the deepest part of the lungs than in many other countries-a PM10level of only 13.1micrograms per cubic metre,as opposed to the average of 20.1micrograms for the OECD.They can expect to live up to 82 years of age,compared with an average of 80years in the OECD.And as well as being healthy,they score highly on civic engagement,thanks largely to the compulsory voting system:93% of Australians turned out to vote in the most recent general elections,the highest percentage in the OECD.
Australia's regions are also happy.In fact,according to the OECD's new Regional Well-Being,all eight Australian states rank among the best 20% of all 362regions studied around the world in civic engagement,environment and income.And Canberra,the Capital Territory,ranks first in Australia,beating the other regions in six of the nine well-being dimensions.Even the low-performing regions still fare better than the OECD average in most of the well-being indicators.
But it is not a perfect score sheet.There is wide inequality between the Australian regions,especially in health and safety where the country ranks fourth and fifth worst in terms of disparities.Education is also a problem in some regions,as the share of workers with at least a secondary diploma living in the lowest performing Australian regions is 8percentage points lower than the OECD average.
Perhaps the most surprising result of all is Australia's low score in work-life balance.More than 14% of Australian employees work for more than 50 hours per week,much more than the OECD average of almost 9%.This hardly squares with the country's reputation for an easy and leisurely lifestyle,a fact that has been picked up by the Australian users of the Better Life Index,ranking work-life balance as the most important factor for a better life.

58.According to the passage,the author most likely agrees thatD.
A.Australians vote out of consciousness of civil rights
B.Australia is a paradise in the world free from smog
C.Australia is a country poor in safety and education
D.Australians'long life mainly relies on environment
59.What does the underlined phrase square with (in Para 5)most likely mean?C
A.collide with
B.submit to
C.correspond with
D.consist in
60.What would be the best title for the text?A
A.Australia:The Happy Country
B.Australia:The Surprising Country
C.Australia:The Lucky Country
D.Australia:The Unequal Country.

18.As each semester begins,my colleague greets his students wearing a jacket and tie.
"You make only one first impression,"he says.So while the rest of the semester he teaches class in his usual, more casual clothes, the first week he presents a different image.
His thought is that students will remember their first meet positively and more readily think highly of him as the semester goes on because that favorable first impression has an influence on them.
The sequence (順序) that we meet matters in how we judge subsequent (后來的) information. The big influence of first impressions is related to the halo effect, where the perception (看法) of positive qualities in one thing or part gives rise to the perception of similar qualities in related things or in the whole.
Here is an example:You meet a friendly person at a party and later are asked to collect money for a worthy cause. You call that person because you think she will make a contribution. In reality, there is no connection between being pleasant and being generous.Yet the halo effect leads you to think that the two are related.
The halo effect is powerful, but it is questionable whether it matters much in long-term relationships, such as that between teacher and student. While dressing up may make students think the teacher must know his subject matter because he creates a professional first impression, the effect wears thin if the person turns out to be a poor t eacher after all.
First impressions matter but they don't have the final word.Facts speak louder. If you had never seen or heard of Einstein, the first time you saw him your impression would most likely be negative. Now his face is connected with genius (天才),not madness because he is the person who has come to define what genius is.
The problem is that few of us are Einsteins and we often don't get the chance to change a negative first impression.
12.The author explains th e halo effect mainly byD.

C.setting down general rules
D.giving an example
13.In the author's eyes,the halo effectD.

14.The author uses the example of Einstein to show the importance ofC.
A.a(chǎn)ppearance

15.The author seems to advise readersC.
A.not to follow others'judgments
