居民resident    開采open up (exploit)    煤田coalfield

In my opinion it’s wise of the city government to set up a park in the city center. If a coal mine is opened up, the residents in this area will suffer a lot from the pollution caused by it. Every day they will breathe in the polluted air and drink the polluted water, which will be very harmful to their life and work, and most important of all, their health.

Of course, the exploitation of the coal field will benefit the residents a lot in terms of economic development, but money is not everything. A happy life consists of many things. Without money, we may have any other ways to enjoy our life, but without a good health, we will lose everything. So what we need is an environment friendly, harmonious city, where people can enjoy themselves instead of a mere increase in economy. (145 words)
