Your letter reached me yesterday. It said in your letter that you were punished for using cellphones, which puzzled you.
There is no doubt that cellphones can bring us much convenience. We can keep in touch with friends and families wherever they are. Besides, the cellphone is a way to fun.
However, there are some problems with using cellphones. The ring of phones can disturb teachers and students in the class. It has been proved that often using cellphones does harm to health. Another problem is that some students can spend too much time and money on cellphones and sending messages, which will result in bad results in study.
As a student, he should concentrate on study. It is right for school to prevent you from using cellphones.

As digital technology increasingly controls the lives of young people, scientists have begun to wonder: Is the Internet good or bad for kids?
“It’s impossible to answer that question because the Internet is so many things,” says psychologist Patricia Greenfield. “It’s networked computer games and news about politics and instant messaging and e-mails to your grandmother. It can be both an educational resource and a hiding place for kidnappers.”
Adults have many reasons to worry about kids’ Internet use. In chat rooms, for instance, it is easy to lie and kids can get trapped in dangerous situations. In searching for and visiting websites, kids can come across words and pictures that they may not be prepared for. To help prevent that situation, in 2000, the US Congress passed the Children’s Internet Protection Act, which requires schools to block offensive and obscene(淫穢的)websites.
Researches have pointed out how confusing the Internet can be for children, even when they think they know how it works. To find out how much kids know about the technology, Zheng Yan, an educational professor in New York, interviews over 300 students in grades four to eight. Most of the youngest students think the Internet is simply an icon (圖標) on the screen. It often isn’t until 10 that kids realize that the Internet is a network of millions of computers. It takes another 2 or 3 years for them to understand that a stranger can see what they’ve posted.
Understanding the technology helps kids understand how dangerous the web can be. It’s not simply enough to block harmful websites or to limit the number of hours kids spend online. Learning about the Internet can also give young people the power to use it in beneficial ways.

A. children are not allowed to go online at schools
B. schools must watch students’ behavior all the time
C. children must be prevented from having access to unhealthy websites
D. it is against the law to search for unhealthy information online
3.In the mind of very young children, the Internet is ______.
A. harmful B. simple
C. a complicated network D. a news source
4.What might be talked about in the following paragraph?
A. How to protect children against the danger of the Internet.
B. How to use the Internet for beneficial purposes.
C. What the public think of the Children’s Internet Protection Act
D. How the Children’s Internet Protection Act was passed.

I had a lot of teachers that I loved. However, the teacher that I remember most was Mrs. Green from Marianna, Florida. She was my 5th grade teacher. Since I was a new student, not only in her class, but at the school, she made my time there much more pleasant. I immediately began to like her. She was really funny and I knew that she liked me. She made learning fun. I remember one day for Christmas holidays, she taught us how to make ornaments(裝飾物) from eggs. My parents still have some of the ornaments I made.
She made me leader for many group projects and that made me feel special. I think that would make any child feel special, especially when a child is in a new place with no friends. She made me want to be like that. Not to pick a “favorite” student, but to make every student feel that they are special. That year, I received the Presidential Academic Award(美國總統(tǒng)學術獎) . I was really proud and so were my parents.
Looking back at it, I think the reason why I did so well was that I felt important. Students do better when they feel like they are important or loved. Mrs. Green always gets to know her students and forms personal relationships with them, which I will try to do some day. I just hope that there will be a student who finds me to be their favorite teacher as I found her to be mine.

A. hard B. happy C. common D. boring

A. become a teacher B. become an artist
C. become a leader D. become the President
4. How does the author feel about Mrs. Green’s help?
