V . One possible version : Dear Mike,

I am deeply sorry to hear that you are not feeling good about your life in China now. In fact, it is natural for anyone who is new to a foreign country. My sugges?tions are as follows.

A good command of Chinese does play a big part in communicating with local people. Since there are so many Chinese people around you, why not try to have a conversation with them to practise your Chinese? Besides, there are so many differ?ences between American culture and Chinese culture. The more you know about Chi?nese culture, the less upset you will feel. Most of the Chinese people are very friendly tu foreigners. All you have to do is to communicate with them without being shy and 'nervous.

I sincerely hope that you will find my suggestions helpful and enjoy your stay in China.

Yours? Li Hua
