---I was trying to carry out the plan, but I failed.
---Well, you _____, for we were uncertain it would do ____.

A.needn’t do that, in factB.needn’t have done, in effect
C.needn’t have, in practiceD.needn’t, in time

C

in practice在實踐中   in fact實際上。故選C
考點:need have done
(1) should (not) / ought (not) to have done
(2) could have done
要注意needn’t do則表達“沒有必要去做某事”,時間上應該是現(xiàn)在或?qū)怼?br />(4)would (not) have done本來(不)會發(fā)生某事,但卻(發(fā)生了)或沒有發(fā)生。

Leave a camera on a mountaintop, and chances are, you'll never see it again. But 24-year-old Paul Bellis, a university student from Wales, believed that most people were better than that, and set up a creative experiment to test out his theory.
