As is known to all that we students have to fix our attention on our lessons, so we know few of society. A holiday is the best time and the best chance to make up that. Take a part-time job is a good form of social practice. Neither that we have learned in books nor in class can have the same important effect on us as what we have learned through personally practice. In social practice, we can surely make a rapid progress in both knowledge and practical ability. However, when we take part-time jobs, we may get paid more or less to help our families. Thus, I suggested we senior school students should take part-time jobs in our holiday, if possible.

As It

2. fewlittle

3.make up 之后加上for

4. TakeTaking

5. Neither之后的that what

6. personallypersonal

It is known to all that… 故As 改為 It。

故few改為little

根據(jù)短語(yǔ)make up for表示彌補(bǔ),補(bǔ)償。故在make up 之后加上for。

故Take改為Taking

故Neither之后的that 改為what。

結(jié)合語(yǔ)境前后句子表示遞進(jìn)而不是轉(zhuǎn)折,表示此外,而且應(yīng)用besides/additionally/moreover/furethermore。 故However改為Besides/Additionally/Moreover/Furthermore。

【題目】 IKEA (瑞典宜家家具公司) is set to launch (上市) an air-purifying curtain coated with a mineral-based surface that breaks down common pollutants. The surface of the curtain is treated with a photocatalyst (光催化劑) mineral that causes air pollution to break down when light shines through it, allowing users to purify the air in their own homes.

The technology works in a similar way to photosynthesis - the natural process that plants and some other organisms use to change carbon dioxide and water into food, using light.

Developed over several years by IKEA in collaboration with universities across Europe and Asia, the purifying technology works with both natural and artificial light. “For me, it’s important to work on products that solve actual problems and are relevant to people,” explained IKEA product developer Mauricio Affonso. “We are creating an affordable and space-saving air purifying solution that also makes the home more beautiful,” he continued.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has stated that even now, 91 percent of the world's population live in areas where air pollution goes over WHO guideline limits. The effects of poor air kill about seven million people worldwide each year, research by the WHO has found.

“Besides enabling people to breathe better air at home, we hope that the curtain will increase people's awareness of indoor air pollution, inspiring behavioral changes that contribute to a world of clean air,” said IKEA head of sustainability Lena Pripp-Kovac. “It is the first product to use the technology, but the development will give us opportunities for future applications on other textiles (紡織品).”

“We know that there is no single solution to air pollution. We work long term for positive change, to enable people to live healthier lives,” added Pripp-Kovac.

1What do we know about the air-purifying curtain?

C.power-savingD.obvious

3What’s the advantage of the curtain?

A.It helps decrease the world population.B.It purifies the air in the city.

C.It changes people’s bad habits.D.It promotes green lives.

4What is the text mainly about?

The curious European destinations that Chinese tourists love visiting

Bicester Village

According to a 2019 VisitBritain report, more than 260,000 Chinese tourists visit the UK each year. And where do they go? It claimed that “they are mostly interested in symbolic elements: the Royal Family, Shakespeare, Sherlock Holmes, Harry Potter and Downton Abbey”.

Then there's the shopping. Bicester Village, a vast retail estate (零售產(chǎn)業(yè)) on the outskirts of the Oxford shire town, is the second most visited UK attraction for Chinese tourists after Buckingham Palace, and three in four Chinese visitors head there.

King's College, Cambridge

A famous tree, for Chinese people at least, can be found in King's College, Cambridge. The willow (柳樹(shù)), considered to be a holy thing to lost youth, is mentioned in a much-loved poem by Xu Zhimo, who spent a year studying at King's College — Taking leave of Cambridge Again:

The golden willows by the riverside;

Are young brides in the setting sun;

Their glittering reflections on the shimmering river;

Keep undulating in my heart.

Bonn

The former West German capital is another popular port of call. Chinese love classical music, particularly Beethoven, making his birthplace an obvious highlight of any trip to Europe. The city's tourist board offers maps in three foreign languages: English, Chinese and Japanese.

Verona

Both British and Chinese travelers flood to Venice, Rome and Florence, but Verona typically appears higher on the wish lists of China's tourists. That's because of the whole country 's adoration of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The play is popular on UK shores, of course, but the love is doubled in China as it was among the first of the Shakespeare's works to be translated into Chinese, because its plot bears a striking resemblance to a famous Chinese folk tale, The Butterfly Lovers. Expect to see queues at the popular House of Juliet on Via Cappello (a statue of the character stands beneath her balcony).

1Which is the most visited place for Chinese tourists?

A.Bicester Village.B.Buckingham Palace.

C.King's College.D.Cambridge.

2W hat's approximately the number of Chinese visitors to Bicester Village each year?

A.About 260,000.B.About 145,600.

C.About 195,000.D.About 346,700.

3Where are the Chinese music lovers likely to go?

A.Bicester Village.B.King's College, Cambridge.

C.Bonn.D.Verona.

4Which are adored by Chinese tourists who love literary?

A.Bicester Village and Bonn.B.Bicester Village and King's College, Cambridge.

C.Verona and Bonn.D.King's College, Cambridge and Verona.
