Theses days, there's a popular cartoon named happy sheep and gray wolf. It's an excellent Chinese cartoon, which tells the stories of happy sheep and gray wolf. The poor gray wolf is always trying hard to catch the sheep, but the sheep could always run away from the danger. The sheep are so clever and lovely that the cartoon gets all the children's love. At the same time, the cartoon is full of the humor. The children could learn more knowledge and enjoyment from it.

The cartoon is shown repeatedly on many TV channels, such as the Zhejiang Channel broadcasts the cartoon on weekends and the vacations; the Sichuan Channel broadcasts the cartoon for an hour in the evening; the Shandong Channel broadcasts it in the morning, while CCTV-3 broadcasts it at the noon everyday.

On one hand, the cartoon gets the children's love because the happy sheep is really clever. He always has a way to work out any problem and save his friends. What’s more there're many things about happy sheep and gray wolf, such as the books, the toys, the pencil-box, the clothings, and so on. Children are happy to buy them. On the other hand, many adults (大人) also like the cartoon, for the gray wolf is regarded as the perfect husband with skills and effort. He invents many things just to catch a sheep for his wife. Though he is often hit by his wife, he always makes her happy without complaining (抱怨).

We can learn more from the cartoon, including the skills, the stories, the details, the humor, and so on. We could see the humor of Chinese type during the cartoon. But I don't like its being shown so often. It may make the children spend more time on watching TV and it is bad for their health and study.

A. a kind of picture B. a kind of sheep C. a kind of film D. a kind of book

A. Because they like men like gray wolf. B. Because they are still young.

Animation(動(dòng)畫) means making things which are lifeless come alive and move.

Since earliest times, people have always been surprised by movement. But not until this century have we managed to take control of movement, to record it, and in the case of animation, to retranslate it and recreate it. To do all this, we use a movie camera and a projector.

In the world of cartoon animation, nothing is impossible. You can make the characters do exactly what you want them to do.

A famous early cartoon character was Felix the Cat, created by Pat Sullivan in America in the early nineteen twenties. Felix was a wonderful cat. He could do all sorts of things no natural cat could do like taking off his tail, using it as a handle and then putting it back.

Most of the great early animators lived and worked in America, the home of the moving picture industry. The famous Walt Disney cartoon characters came to life after 1928. Popeye the Sailor and his girl friend Olive Oyo were born at Max Ficischer in 1933.

But to be an animator, you don’t have to be a professional. It is possible for anyone to make a simple animated film without using a camera at all. All you have to do is to draw directly on to an empty film and then run the film through a projector.

Which of the following statements is TRUE?

A. People were unable to cause the movement to last or record it in the last century.

B. Pat Sullivan was a famous early cartoon character.

C. It is impossible to make cartoon characters do what they are designed to do.

D. In ancient times people were surprised by movement.

According to the passage, Felix the Cat________.

A. was created by the American cartoonist Felix

B. was designed by Pat Sullivan in the early twentieth century

C. was unable to do what natural cats could not do

D. was created in the United States in the nineteenth century

It can be inferred from the passage that ________.

A. Walt Disney’s cartoon characters were born earlier that Pat Sullivan’s

B. only professionals can create cartoon characters

C. Popeye the Sailor and Olive Oyo were famous cartoonists

D. the cartoon industry started in the United States

Which of the following statements best describes the author’s attitude towards cartoon making?

A. Cartoon making is an easy job. Anyone can do it.

B. Only trained people can be employed in cartoon making industry.

C. Anyone can make cartoons under the instructions of professionals.

D. Cartoon making is no easy job. You have to spend much time drawing onto the empty film.

Forgiving someone who has hurt you or let you down is never an easy thing. Several new studies, however, say that it could have a lot of health benefits. When you think of forgiveness, you probably don’t think of it as being a health or medical problem. Studies from Stanford University, on the other hand, show that something like anger can change your well-being.

When cartoon book characters like the Incredible Hulk get angry, they change colors and often gain special power. In the real world, anger is less obvious and may be more dangerous. That’s why Professor Fred Luskin, founder of the Stanford Forgiveness Project and author of Forgive for Good, says holding on to anger and hatred can harm your physical and mental health. Two new studies seem to show the same idea.

The studies find that people who are able to forgive feel less stress, less back pain, and less depression. They also have fewer headaches, lower blood pressure, and fewer problems on sleeping.

So it doesn’t matter if your anger is caused by the traffic or other things. Learning to let it go is important. Techniques such as deep breath or thought can help. Or just ask yourself if it’s worth hurting yourself by staying angry with someone else.

Forgiveness does not mean that you simply accept what happened and say it’s OK. Instead, it’s a way of making peace with yourself about what happened in the past.

1.The example of the cartoon book characters is taken in the passage to______.

   A. support the viewpoint that anger and hatred harm physical and mental health

   B. introduce a famous expert

   C. let the reader know the different colors of cartoon faces

   D. show how to control one’s temper

2.The underlined phrase “holding on to” in this passage possibly means“______”.

   A. removing    B. keeping up    C. getting rid of    D. learning about

3.Which of the following is NOT mentioned in this passage?

   A. People who are able to forgive feel less stress.

B. People who are able to forgive feel less depression.

C. People who are able to forgive have fewer problems on sleeping.

D. People who are able to forgive feel less tired.

4.The best title for this passage is probably _______.

   A. Forgiveness                        B. Forgiveness Is Good for Health

C. A Secret to Keeping Health            D. Anger Is Bad for Health

The US government has started a website, Admongo, to help children think critically about the advertising aimed at them. It claims to provide visitors with an “aducation” through games and other entertainment.

A cartoon man dressed in old time pilot clothing greets visitors to Admongo. "Call me Haiz", he says upon arrival in a rocket ship that opens up with a crazy world inside it. Spacey dance music plays in the background as Haiz tells visitors that they need to learn about advertising.

Its inventors say eight to twelve years old is the age kids develop their critical thinking abilities. Kids that age are also a big market for advertisers.

The idea behind Admongo is to teach children three things: To identify the advertiser. To know what the advertiser is really saying. And to know what the advertisement is trying to get the child to do.

Children learn these things through a video game. They create their own game character. They can choose different skin colors, hair styles, eye and mouth shapes. Then they begin a trip through ad-land, where there are ads on buses and billboards. The players have to find all the marketing in the neighborhood before they can move on to the next level.

The Admongo game takes players inside a home, to the advertising studio and everywhere else ads can be found. It is a complete exploration of the world of marketing.

One such area is food marketing. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) says it is a big business. The FTC estimates that food, drink and fast-food restaurants spent more than one and a half billion dollars on advertising to young people in 2009.

The FTC says children are important for three reasons. They buy products. They influence parents and caregivers to buy. And they are the future adult buyers of the products.

A recent study says most advertising aimed at children is for foods of the lowest nutritional value. First Lady Michelle Obama has said she would like to see advertisers marketing healthy foods for children.

A. A website aimed at children’s food     B. The cartoon guide named “Haiz”

2. Why did the government start the website?

A. To advertise the video game for children.

B. To help children know about advertising.

C. To attract the biggest market of buyers.

D. To sell the products of its company.

3. What can players do in the website game?

A. Play video games during the trip.       B. Travel to a supermarket.

C. Eat in a fast-food restaurant.          D. Choose appearance for their character.

4.Children are important for advertising because they are ______.

A. important for the society               B. the most potential buyers

C. easily influenced by ads                D. easily affected by poor products

5. According to Michelle Obama, lots of foods advertised for children are ________.

A. of low quality   B. yummyC. of high nutrition  D. healthy
