LANGUAGES Canada,a new Canadian national organization of public and private language training programs,was started recently to ensure that language training in Canada is of high quality,Canada News Wire has reported.

Canada has developed its language-training programs for over forty years without a comparatively uniform(adj. 一致的;相同的) quality standard before Languages Canada adopted(采用) a complete system of rigorous standards that apply equally to all public and private schools in Canada To qualify(取得資格;具備合格條件),a school is evaluated in a number of categories including curriculum,teacher qualifications,student services,student admissions,marketing,promotion,facilities and administration. The quality standards guarantee that international students who come to Canada to learn English or French can expect to receive a uniform level of excellent instruction..

So far,a total of 144 language–training programs,public and private,English and French,have met the standards. They will have to re-qualify in three years. About two dozen other schools failed to meet all standards and may be re-evaluated in the future.

Try not to use false subjects, such as sentences that start with “It is” or “This has” which can be confusing. Instead, start the sentence with a specific descriptive subject.

Do not use mini word clusters (串) because they may confuse anyone who is just learning the English languages. Mini words are short, common words with one-to-three letters. Avoid using idioms, such as “the tip of the iceberg” and “right around the corner”. Instead, say exactly what you mean. Also, because many languages do not use pronouns such as “it” or “they”, try to avoid them. Avoid using phrasal verbs, such as “keep up” or “get into” because they aren’t easy to understand in some languages. Finally, since most languages have different formats for writing dates, it is best to write out the month, date and year completely.

In a word, it is important to read and write global English. By understanding the concepts of global English and using proper techniques, a business can successfully grow in the global business economy.

In homes with cats and dogs living peacefully, researchers observed a surprising behaviour. They are learning how to talk each other’s language. It is a surprise that cats can learn how to talk ‘Dog’, and dogs can learn how to talk ‘Cat’.

What’s interesting is that both cats and dogs have appeared to develop their intelligence. They can learn how to read each other’s body signals, suggesting that the two may have more in common than we previously suspected. Once familiar with each other’s presence and body language, cats and dogs can play together, greet each other nose to nose, and enjoy sleeping together on the sofa. They can easily share the same water bowl and in some cases groom (梳理) each other.

The significance of the research on cats and dogs may go beyond pets ─ to people who don’t get along, including neighbors, colleagues at work, and even world superpowers. If cats and dogs can learn to get along, surely people have a good chance.
