Last Saturday I went to the library as usually. At about noon, I was enjoying my reading near a lake while suddenly I hear someone crying for help. I went up to see what was happened. I was shocking to find a little child struggling in the water in the distance while many peoples were standing by without doing anything. Without any hesitation, I had pushed through the crowd as I took off my coat, but jumped into the water quickly. I managed to reach him and carried him back to safety. To his great relief, the kid was saved.
I am proud what I did. I hope everyone can give a hand when someone else is in need.

It's a Saturday morning, and I am eager to fly away.My husband and I will meet up with our son on the other side of the country to learn and explore together.Sitting now at the airport gate,my husband wanders away to stretch his legs.Moments later,he returns and whispers in my ear.I rise and follow him around the comer toward a large window facing the landing area.
On the road, Marines stand straight and the plane door is open.A white hearse(靈車)is parked nearby.A man and a soldier stand on either side of a woman, supporting her and waiting for what is to come.Airport personnel stand in reverent stillness.A few people place their hands over their hearts,as I have done. We're joined in witness, sending respect to an honorable soldier whose name we'll never know.
The woman looks heartbroken. She cries, knowing she will never hear "Mom”from her son. She'll never feel his tender embrace or enjoy his sweet peck on her cheeks.Another man's face is twisted because of the grief. His son,the tiny boy he no doubt wrestled playfully, the teen he probably taught to drive, and the son he stood so proudly by,now lives only in his memory.
Those behind the glass stay silent, reflecting on this loss, as the family and soldiers leave. Some of us women, with sorrowful expressions, move slowly away, sharing a mother's profound grief .Soon, each of us will fly off in planes and return to an ordinary life made extraordinary by this soldier's courage,by this family's sacrifice and by this love shared by all that look out of the window.

【題目】根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容,選擇最佳答案。
I could feel the judging eyes of my family burning a hole into the back of my head as I picked up my phone. All of a sudden, the chattering in the living room died and all I could hear was the sound of the turkey sizzling (發(fā)出嘶嘶聲) in the oven.
“Look at her! She's been on her phone all day long! It's all your fault! Children will never respect elders if they are not taught how to behave! ” my grandmother shouted.
I was very shocked and angry! I opened my mouth to say something, but words failed me and I just sat down quietly on the chair like a mouse in its trap. I thought “Here we go again.” I truly love my family and I would do anything for them. I also know that they would do anything for me as well. However, there are moments that make me feel like they are just stuck with me. They all agree on one thing: technology is wrecking me.
If I am going to be treated like a child or completely ignored, I will most likely not enjoy your company, and I feel like this applies to (適用于) the majority of the people. So I sometimes simply shut myself in my room and listened to the voices coming from the living room, thinking: They all grew up in a world so different that it amazes me how they have actually gotten this far. They did not have phones or any type of advanced technology, which is both good and bad. Bad because they had almost no type of fast communication, and good because they were forced to interact (互動) with one another, which is something today's society is lacking in. However, maybe if they made an effort to be aware of how things work nowadays, they would not be so against everything.
(1)What happened when the author picked up her smart phone?
A.Her family laughed at her.
B.Her family kept silent.
C.She felt like having headache.
D.She smelt something burning.
(2)The underlined word in the third paragraph probably means ________.
A.punishing
B.encouraging
C.ruining
D.saving
(3)We can infer from the passage that the author felt it hard ________.
A.to do something to please her family
B.to satisfy her family's high expectation
C.to get along with her family in some way
D.to move out or break away from her family
(4)The author uses the last paragraph to show that ________.
A.it is important to strengthen understanding among the family
B.it is necessary to treat each other well in the family
C.it is hard for the older people to accept the advanced technology
D.it is her duty to provide her family with a happier life in the future

【題目】閱讀理解
He was once referred to as the Picasso of poetry. Beloved by Chileans of all classes, he is one of the most widely read and respected poets in history. And this year is the 100th birthday of Pablo Neruda (1904-1973).
Born with the name Neftali Ricardo Reyes Basolto, he was a tall, shy and lonely boy. He loved to read and started to write poetry when he was ten. The American poet Walt Whitman, whose framed picture Neruda later kept on his table, became a major influence on his work.
However, his father did not like the idea of having a poet for a son and tried to discourage him from writing. To cover up the publication of his first poem, he took the pen name Pablo Neruda.
In 1924 Neruda gained fame with his most widely read work “Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair'. Yet his rich experience as a diplomat and exile made him go beyond the theme of love. His work also reflected the political struggle of the left and development of South America. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1971.
Neruda loved the sea which he saw as creative, destructive and forever moving. He found inspiration in the power and freedom of the waves and the seabirds on the coast. “I need the sea because it teaches me,” he wrote. “I move in the university of the waves.” He loved how the sea forever renewed itself, a renewal echoed in his work.

A.literary greats usually used the pen name

(3)Which of the following is not the theme of his works?
