High school students are some of the busiest people in the world. To get the most from all you do, you must be in control of your time. Otherwise decision that affect how well you play the game, what position you play and when you get to play will be decided for you. Your success in high school depends on your use of time. Here are some important things to remember.

·Begin each term by filling in a master plan. First fill in things you must do (classes, work, practice, etc. that you can’t change.) Then find the most effective use for these times.

·Set a regular time and place for study. This will save your time in the long run. If you have a study hall in your school, use it!

·Use daylight hours to study whenever possible. For most people for every hour of study done in daylight hours, it will take them one and a half hours to do the same task at night.

·Take breaks. Don’t plan marathon study time. Have a short rest before you study again.

·By using flash cards or summary sheets, you can use odd times to study while you’re waiting for class to start or for a friend to pick you up.

·If possible, plan study time with a partner. Choose your partner wisely however. Make sure you study, not socialize.

·Do the most difficult tasks for times when you are active. (For example, when you’re energetic, it will become easier to solve maths questions; when you’re tired, it will be impossible!)

·Make a daily checklist. Do the most important tasks first.

According to the passage, your success in high school mainly lies in _________.

A. making full use of your time                B. your hard work

C. your brainpower                          D. how well you play the game

On how to use our time, we should follow the following suggestions EXCEPT _______.

A. working out a complete plan for the whole term

B. keeping a good balance between study and rest

C. putting the most important tasks first

When you are in a place where you are hunting for a new job or career, you will find that there are several things that you should pay attention to. Jobs and careers are fewer than you expect, especially when satisfying employment is something you need to seriously think about.  How are you going to find the job that you want and what should you avoid(避免) on your way? When you want to make use of your job search, take a moment and think about the things that you must avoid at all costs.

One of the most important rules is never to compromise(妥協(xié)) on the things you ask for or desire or it will badly affect your life and peace of mind. Keep in mind your basic expectations of a dream job. They might be something about monetary compensation or you might find they have something to do with time off. Whatever they are, make sure that you do not accept a job without them. Your requirements might not be easy to meet, but you have the right to try and achieve them.

What’s more, don’t shy away from odd (臨時(shí)的)jobs that might actually take you to the place that you want to be in. Sometimes, finding the right job is a matter of luck and chance after you have been searching and putting in a lot of effort. And if something unexpected happens, remember that taking the chance is of great importance and is something you might want to seriously consider. As long as you keep your goals in mind , you are going to be doing much better than other people during the job search.

If you are looking for the right job, another thing that you can do to make sure that you get the right kind of employment is to market yourself. When you do nothing to push yourself  forward, you will be the one suffering for it. If required, give enough encouragement to yourself and try to confidently look at all that you have. Make sure that you can show your skills and abilities. If the jobs that you have set your sights on are challenging , set goals for yourself and work hard at them. The more efforts you put in marketing yourself, the more your chances of obtaining the job you like will be.

Remember that when you are working on a job search, you should not short-change yourself. This is because you will only harm yourself by setting low goals.

科目:高中英語(yǔ) 來(lái)源:山西省月考題 題型:閱讀理解

Sometimes you'll hear people say that you can't love others until you love yourself. Sometimes you'll
hear people say that you can't expect someone else to love you until you love yourself. Either way,
you've got to love yourself first and this can be tricky. Sure we all know that we're the apple of our
parents' eyes, and that our Grandmas think we're great talents and our Uncle Roberts think that we will
go to the Olympics. but sometimes it's a lot harder to think such nice thoughts about ourselves. If you
find that believing in yourself is a challenge, it is time you built a positive self-image and learn to love
yourself.
Self-image is your own mind's picture of yourself. This image includes the way you look, the way you
act, the way you talk and the way you think. Interestingly, our self-images are often quite different from
the images others hold about US. Unfortunately, most of these images are more negative than they
should be. Thus changing the way you think about yourself is the key to changing your self-image and
your whole world.
The best way to defeat a passive self-image is to step back and decide to stress your successes. That
is, make a list if you need to, but write down all of the great things you do every day. Don't allow doubts
to occur in it.
It very well might be that you are experiencing a negative self-image because you can't move past one
flaw or weakness that you see about yourself. Well, roll up your sleeves and make a change of it as your
primary task. If you think you're silly because you aren't good at math, find a tutor. If you think you're
weak because you can't run a mile, get to the track and practice. If you think you're dull because you
don't wear the latest trends, buy a few new clothes. But remember, just because you think it doesn't
mean it's true.
The best way to get rid of a negative serf-image is to realize that your image is far from objective,
and to actively convince yourself of your positive qualities. Changing the way you think and working on
those you need to improve will go a long way towards promoting a positive self-image. When you can
pat yourself on the back, you'll know you're well on your way. Good luck!
1. You need to build a positive self-image when you _________.
A. dare to challenge yourself
B. feel it hard to change yourself
C. are unconfident about yourself
D. have a high opinion of yourself
2. According to the passage, our serf-images _________.
A. have positive effects
B. are probably untrue
C. are often changeable
D. have different functions
3. How should you change your serf-image according to the passage?
A. To keep a different image of others.
B. To make your life successful.
C. To understand your own world.
D. To change the way you think.
4. What is the passage mainly about?
A. How to prepare for your success.
B. How to face challenges in your life.
C. How to build a positive self-image.
D. How to develop your good qualities.

科目:高中英語(yǔ) 來(lái)源: 題型:閱讀理解

Fear and its companion pain are two of the most useful things that men and animals possess, if they are properly used.If fire did not hurt when it burnt, children would play it until their hands were burnt away.Similarly, if pain existed but fear did not, a child would burn itself again and again, because fear would not warn the child to keep away from the fire that had burnt him or her before.A really fearless soldier-and some do exist –is not a good soldier because he is soon killed; and a dead soldier is of no use to his army.Fear and pain are therefore two guards without which men and animals might soon die out.

In our first sentence we suggested that fear ought to be properly used. If, for example, you never go out of your house because of the danger of being knocked down and killed in the street by a car, you are letting fear rule you too much.Even in your house you are not absolutely safe: a plane may crash on your house, or ants may eat away some of the wood in your roof, and they later may fall on you, or you may get cancer!

The important thing is not to let fear rule you, but instead to use fear as your servant and guide.Fear will warn you of dangers; then you have to decide what action to take.

In many cases, you can take quick and successful action to avoid the danger. For example, you see a car coming straight toward you; fear warns you, you jump out of the way, and all is OK.

In some cases, however, you decide that there is nothing that you can do to avoid the danger. For example, you cannot prevent a plane from crashing into your house, and you may not want to go and live in a desert where there are no plants. In this case, fear has given you its warning; you have examined it and decided on your course of action, so fear of this particular danger is no longer of any use to you, and you have to try to overcome it.

1.Children would play with fire until their hands were burnt away if _______.

A.they were given no warning beforehand

B.they didn’t have any sense of pain at all

  C.they had never burnt themselves

D.they felt afraid of the fire

2.A really fearless soldier _______.

A.is of a little use to his army                  B.is not afraid of battles at all

C.is nothing but a dead soldier                D.is easy to get killed in a battle

3.People sometimes succeed in timely avoiding dangers because _______.

A.they are warned of the danger and take quick action

B.they are quick both in mind and in action

C.they are calm in face of danger

    D.they have gained much experience

4.It is implied but not stated that _______.

    A.fear is always something helpful

    B.too much fear is harmful

C.fear should be used as a servant and guide

D.fear is something strange and particular
