【答案】At present, when senior high school students get weekends off, many of my classmates spend all day watching TV, chatting and playing computer games on the Internet. So they are too busy to communicate with their parents. What’s more, they have not enough time to eat.

As we all know, watching TV, playing games and chatting on the Internet all day are bad for us. First of all, some of my classmates may be even more tired at home than at school. Besides, they probably lose the chance of sharing their life with their parents, which makes them not understand each other well. Thirdly, it is certain than eating the junk food and snacks is harmful to health.

In my opinion, we should spend less time in front of the TV or the computer. To make ourselves relaxed,we can go out to take some exercise and do some sports. We‘d better spend as much time as we can with friends and family members who love us. And we need enough sleep and have a healthy diet to keep fit

1.優(yōu)秀的詞匯和短語:What’s more, 更多的是, To make ourselves relaxed 讓我們放松的是, have a healthy diet to keep fit良好的飲食習(xí)慣

優(yōu)秀的句式和行文脈絡(luò):

2.Thirdly, it is certain than eating the junk food and snacks is harmful to health. 用一個(gè)比較的形式展示出了吃膨化食品對我們說身體有害的觀點(diǎn),一改以往平淡無味的敘述,更形象。

3.We‘d better spend as much time as we can with friends and family members who love us.提建議時(shí)用到we’d better do這樣的句型極具說服力同時(shí)有as much as更使此句的語氣加重。

【題目】You're in a department store and you see a couple of attractive young women looking at a sweater. You listen to their conversation:

“I can't believe it-Lorenzo Bertolla! They are almost impossible to find.Isn't it beautiful? And it's a lot cheaper than the one Sara bought in Rome.”

They leave and you go over to see this incredible sweater. It's nice and the price is right. You've never heard of Lorenzo Bertolla, but those girls looked really stylish. They must know. So, you buy it.You never realize that those young women are employees of an advertising agency. They are actually paid to go from store to store, talking loudly about Lorenzo Bertolla clothes.

Every day we notice what people are wearing, driving and eating. If the person looks cool, the product seems cool, too. This is the secret of undercover marketing.Companies from Ford to Nike are starting to use it.

Undercover marketing is important because it reaches people that don't pay attention to traditional advertising. This is particularly true of the MTV generation-consumers between the age of 18 and 34.It's a golden group. They have a lot of money to spend, but they don't trust ads.

So advertising agencies hire young actors to “perform” in bars and other places where young adults go.Some people might call this practice misleading, but marketing executive Jonathan Ressler calls it creative.“Look at traditional advertising. Its effectiveness is decreasing.”It is true, because everyone knows an ad is trying to persuade you to buy something. However, you don't know when a conversation you overhear is just a performance.

1The two attractive young women were talking so as to ________.

A. get the sweater at a lower price

B. be heard by people around

C. be admired by other shoppers

D. decide on buying the sweater

2Lorenzo Bertolla is ________.

A. a very popular male singer

B. an advertising agency

C. a clothing company in Rome

【題目】Years ago, I lived in a building in a large city. The next building only was a few feet away from mine. They was a woman lived there, and I had never met her, yet I could see she sat by her window each afternoon, sewing or reading.

After several months had gone by, I began to notice that her window was dirty. Everything was unclear through the dirty window. I would say to myself. “I wonder why that woman doesn’t wash her window. It really looks terrible.”

One bright morning I decided to clean my flat, including washing the window on the inside.

Late in the afternoon when I finished the cleaning, I sat down by the window with a cup of coffee for a rest. What a surprise! Across the way, the woman sitting by her window was clearly visible (看見). Her window was clean!

Then it dawned on me. I had been criticizing (批評) her dirty window, but all the time I was watching hers through my own dirty window.

That was quite an important lesson for me. How often had I looked at and criticized others through the dirty window of my heart, through my own shortcomings? Since then, whenever I wanted to judge (評判) someone, I asked myself first, “Am I looking at him through my own dirty window?” I try to clean the window of my own world so that I may see the world about me more clearly.

A. the woman’s window was dirty B. the writer’s window was dirty

D. the woman’s window was clean

3“It dawned on me” probably means “_______”.

A. I began to understand it B. it cheered me up

C. I knew it grew light D. it began to get dark

4From the passage, we can learn _______.

A. one shouldn’t criticize others very often

B. one should often make his windows clean

C. one must judge himself before he judges others

D. one must look at others through his dirty windows.

【題目】I am always nervous when I get an email from my parents with "FYI(For Your Information)". My parents are in their late 70s, and while they are quite healthy for their ages, I worry about what messages they are going to give me.

I got such an email in September from my father. He sent an email from my cousin who told that her father, my uncle Reese, had passed away. The news made my mind go blank though I have met him less than a dozen times in my life, because Reese was the first of my parent’s siblings(兄弟姐妹) to die, and I was simply not ready for that.

The memorial service was set in Florida, and I quickly decided I needed to go. I needed to be there for my father, and I needed to go for myself. Reese is about nine years older than my father, and I started to do the math in my head. I know that doesn’t make sense, but I will do anything to reason that I still have a lot of time before I am in my cousin’s shoes.

Reese’s memorial service was small with only family and perhaps a dozen of his friends. The funeral was attended by an even smaller number, and then, the family gathered at a nearby bar to look at old photographs found among Reese’ possessions.

As we drove back to the Orlando International Airport, I thought about how I am not sure what my parents want, not only in their memorial services, but also how they want to be remembered and where they want to be laid to rest. These are going to be difficult conversations, but I know I need to have them. Maybe not right now, but we do need to open the discussion at some point. It may feel too early, but I trust my parents will know that when adult children raise these questions, we do it out of love to honor their lives and their wishes.

【1】 Why do emails with “FYI” make the author uneasy?

A. She’s too busy to read those emails.

B. She dislikes her parents’ nonstop talking.

C. They often bring unpleasant news.

D. She’s afraid to get bad news about her parents.

【2】How did the author feel about the email from her cousin?

A. Disappointed. B. Shocked

C. Confused. D. Annoyed.

【3】What do we know from the third and fourth paragraphs?

A. A get-together was held at home.

B. Reese’s friends didn’t appear.

C. Not many people attended the funeral.

D. The author hesitated to go to Florida.

【4】What does the author decide to do after the funeral?

A. Express her love for her parents bravely.

B. Have a talk with her parents about death.

C. Value her parents’ wishes.

D. Get everything ready for her parents.

The Science of Risk-Seeking

Sometimes we decide that a little unnecessary danger is worth it because when we weigh the risk and the reward, the risk seems worth tasking. __【1】__ Some of us enjoy activities that would surprise and scare the rest of us. Why? Experts say it may have to do with how our brains work.

The reason why any of us take any risks at all might have to do with early humans. Risk-takers were better at hunting, fighting, or exploring. _【2】_ As the quality of Risk-taking was passed from on ration to the next, humans ended up with a sense of adventure and a tolerance for risk.

So why aren’t we all jumping out of airplanes then? Well, even 200,000 years ago, too much risk-taking could get one killed. A few daring survived, though, along with a few stay-in-the-cave types. As a result, humans developed a range of character types that still exists today. So maybe you love car racing, or maybe you hate it. __【3】__

No matter where you are on the risk-seeking range, scientists say that your willingness to take risks increases during your teenage years. _【4】__ To help you do that, your brain increases your hunger for new experiences. New experiences often mean taking some risks, so your brain raises your tolerance for risk as well.

_【5】_ For the risk-seekers a part of the brain related to pleasure becomes active, while for the rest of us, a part of the brain related to fear becomes active.

As experts continue to study the science of risk-seeking, we’ll continue to hit the mountains, the waves or the shallow end of the pool.

A. Those are the risks you should jump to take.

B. It all depends on your character.

C. Being better at those things meant a greater chance of survival.

D. Thus, these well-equipped people survived because they were the fittest.

E. This is when you start to move away from your family and into the bigger world.

F. However, we are not all using the same reference standard to weigh risks and rewards.

G. New brain research suggests our brains work differently when we face a nervous situation.

However, roommates living together under the same roof for a long time unavoidably conflict with each other.1To prevent this from happening to you, each conflict should be addressed in a productive, healthy way.1. Set a time for discussion.Once conflicts occur, you need to set up a time to discuss the conflict.2They may think about any problems they want to discuss. It also allows for a better discussion as the both roommates will most likely enter the discussion fairly calm.2. Make rules for discussionBefore discussing the actual conflicts, set up some rules to guide the discussion. For example, each roommate is allowed to air one problem at a time and the other roommate has a chance to respond to it before another one is brought up. Making rules beforehand can prevent a screaming match from breaking out.33.4You can use your discussion to point out to your roommates their great traits and specific things you like about them. While this won’t solve the conflict, it can help your roommates be more understanding of your point of view and more willing to compromise.4. Come up with a written roommate agreementOnce grievances(不滿)have been aired by both parties you should develop a roommate agreement that is written down. This agreement should discuss what the rules are as well as what consequences exist for breaking them. For example, roommates having a conflict about overnight guests may compromise to allow overnight guests only on weekends with guests on weekdays being gone by 11 p. m.5

A. Talk about your problems openly.

B. Point out good things about roommates.

C. Being honest can avoid unfriendly discussion.

D. This provides both parties a chance for preparation.

E. And disaster can strike when a conflict never gets settled.

F. A consequence may be that the violator(違反者) pays $5 for breaking the rules.

G. This is because both sides know they will have an opportunity to speak.
