One day I took a bus with my girlfriend. It was so that we stood for several stops until a vacant seat was for her.

Then a pretty girl rushed towards me, saying, "Hi, where are you going?"  I was so struck by the stranger that I had a hard time trying to her. Clearly she had taken me somebody else. I returned her greeting with politeness,  to give explanation to my girlfriend later.

Noticing my dialogue with somebody else, my girlfriend her eyes and found she was pretty. She asked jealously, "Who's she?" The pretty girl, quite of the situation, spoke out first, "Hi, let me myself. I'm Nancy, used to be . Very glad to meet you." She behaved very .

But I was to search in my memory for someone called Nancy among my neighbors. I was worrying how to explain this to my girlfriend the pretty girl again turned to me, "Will you give me your cell phone number so that we keep contacts later?" I had to submit to her . Then the girl got off the bus at the next stop.

A minute later I got a short on my phonefrom a stranger. My girlfriend my phone and read the note. It was from the girl, who said, "Just now, two thieves tried to your pocket. I had to act as an acquaintance to draw your attention. I should have left at the stop but gave up as I noticed these two thieves also to leave at the same stop. Because of the I delayed my departure. Now you' ll understand all I have done to you. Wish you luck."

Three men were travelling across the desert when their car broke down. There were no other traffics, so their only hope was to walk.

Before they set off, they looked around in the car for useful things to take with them. One of the men took a bottle of whisky. Another took an umbrella. The third unscrewed a door from the car and carried that.

After they had been walking for almost a day, they came across a camel caravan travelling towards them.

“Let’s try to join the caravan,” one of the men said. “It’s going the wrong way but we’ll be safer than if we keep on alone across the desert.”

The other s agreed, so they asked the leader of the caravan for permission to join it.

“You can join the caravan only if you answer three questions,” he said. He pointed to the first man’s bottle. “What is that and why are you carrying it?” he asked.

“It’s a bottle of whisky. I decided to carry it with me so that if I feel miserable and want to give up, I can get drunk, cheer myself up and then keep on walking.”

“Very sensible,” the leader of the caravan said. Then he pointed to the next man and his umbrella.

“It hasn’t rained in the desert for many years,” he said. “Why are you carrying an umbrella?”

“I don’t want to get heat exhaustion,” he replied. “The umbrella will give me shade from the sun.”

“Very sensible,” the leader of the caravan said. He pointed to the third man and his car door. “And why are you carrying a car door?” he asked him.

“I thought that if I got too hot I could open the window and let some air in,” he explained.

Years ago, if a teenager had some problems in his or her life, he or she might write in his or her diary. Now a teenager with the same problems might go onto the Internet and write about them in a blog. In many ways, a diary and a blog are almost the same. So, what makes a blog different from a diary?

__1.__ Usually, a teenager treats his or her diary like a book full of secrets. Both diaries and blogs tell what happened to the writer that day.

I have a little sister, and sometimes I go online to read her blog. She writes about things like waking up early for swimming practice and not studying enough for her chemistry exam. __2.__ Then, after I finished writing, I would hide my diary in a secret place because I was worried that my sister might read it!

Because a blog is such a public way of writing, it has both good and bad points. __3.__ If I am angry with a friend during school and write something bad about her in my diary, she will never know. However, if my sister writes something bad about a friend, that friend may read her blog and get angry. __4.__.

A blog has good points, of course. __5.__ People choose to write in blogs because they know that their friends will read what they write. If I am feeling sad one day and write in my diary, “Nobody cares about me,” no one will know about it. However, if my sister writes the same words in her blog, her best friends will quickly reply and tell her how much they like her.

If People are careful about what they write, blogs are a very good way to write about everyday life. However, I still prefer my old diary!

A. So we have to be very careful of what we write.

B. When I was her age, I wrote about the same things, but only in my diary.

C. The biggest problem with a blog is that anyone can read what you write.

D. The biggest difference is that a blog is much more public than a diary.

E. Everyone intends to keep his own secret.

F. Blogs help people stay in contact with their friends and hear what the people around them are doing.

G. When we write a diary we usually write down what we have done or how we think of others.

科目:高中英語 來源:2016屆四川省達(dá)州市高一上學(xué)期期末考試英語試卷(解析版) 題型:閱讀理解

One Monday morning, Paul and his classmates were in science laboratory for their practical chemistry lesson. The students were going to work in pairs to do an experiment. Before they began, the teacher gave them this description of the different stages of the experiment.

Stage 1: Prepare the equipment: a test tube, a crucible, a Bunsen burner and tongs.

Stage 2: Weigh 5 grams of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) and put it in a crucible.

Stage 3: Heat 10 ml of hydrochloric acid (鹽酸) in a test tube.

Stage 4: Pour the warm acid onto the baking soda and continue to heat the mixture.

Result: The acid reacts with the bicarbonate(碳酸氫鹽)to form water, carbon dioxide gas and salt. The hotter the mixture, the quicker the reaction. Continue to heat the mixture until the water evaporates, leaving the salt in the crucible.

Paul and his partner followed the instructions and set up their equipment. Paul went to the cupboard to get a bottle of hydrochloric acid. He found that there was only one bottle in the cupboard so he took that. There was no label on the bottle and Paul didn’t check with the teacher if it was the right solution.

He measured the liquid and poured it into a test tube. Using tongs to hold the test tube, he heated it over the Bunsen burner. That’s when things started to go wrong. The liquid in the test tube was not hydrochloric acid. When it was heated, it formed a thick cloud of white gas. Soon the room was full of this strong smelling white gas.

All the students started coughing and their eyes hurt. The teacher immediately opened the windows and ordered the students to leave the laboratory at once. She realized that the liquid was a crylamide (丙烯酰胺) and that it is poisonous.

Fortunately, nobody was injured in the incident. However, it taught the students and the teacher a good lesson.

1.What lesson did the incident teach the students and the teacher?

A. Never have a bottle without a label in the chemistry lab!

B. Obey your teacher’s instructions in the Chemistry lab.

C. A crylamide can’t take the place of hydrochloric acid.

D. Finding something unusual happened, you have to leave the laboratory at once.

2.What substance were the students making in the experiment?

A. Water              B. Carbon dioxide gas         C. Salt          D. Poisonous gas

3.Why did Paul make the mistake?

A. He went to the cupboard to get the bottle by himself.

B. He found that there was only one bottle in the cupboard so he took that.

C. There was no label on the bottle.

D. Paul didn’t check with the teacher that it was the right solution.

4.Why did the teacher send the students out of the classroom?

A. Because the room was full of this strong smelling white gas.

B. Because all the students started coughing and their eyes hurt.

C. Because the liquid was a crylamide and that it is poisonous.

D. Because someone was injured in the incident.
