Not all of us are outgoing and ready to take the world by storm. 1. This usually happens when a person is still in his or her teen years and going through the socialization process. So, what can a person do to overcome this tendency to be awkward. Let’s try to find answers to the questions.
Stay in shape and dress up well
Sometimes, awkwardness could be due to being overweight. When you are large in size, you tend to get very self-conscious. So, in order to avoid this, get into the habit of exercising every day. 2. If you look as if you have just stepped out of a 1980’s film when actually it is 2011, there is no doubt that you are bound to feel awkward about yourself.
Be optimistic
Another effective tip on how not to feel awkward is to always keep a smile on your face. 3. On the other hand, a smiling, happy and positive think person is appreciated by everybody. So, smile when you meet acquaintances or even strangers, say a cheerful “Hi!” and automatically some of your awkwardness will disappear completely!
Participate in team activities
This one really helps. Awkwardness generally develops when a person remains isolated from others. So, in order to change this situation, join groups. 4. Joining people in book reading sessions as well as debates will help remove your awkwardness. Choose any activity of your choice, such as playing team sports or joining a dance class, and soon you will find your comfort level around people increasing day by day!
Develop your personality
Being a book-worm or an Internet addict will not get you anywhere. For self-improvement, take up a hobby that adds meaning to your life. Learn singing or try adventure sports. 5.
A. Learn how to end a conversation.
B. Secondly, have appropriate clothes on.
C. For instance, if you are a reading lover, join a book club.
D. If you look sad, nobody will actually like being with you.
E. Something as simple as listening to music will do wonders too.
F. Many among us are shy and may even feel kept apart from others.
G. Awkwardness could be because you do not have anything in common to talk about.

Sunny 31st, July
It was sunny today and I was in a good mood. Tired of studying or the noise of city life, I come to the ecology park to enjoy scenery and get relaxing in the afternoon.
While I arrived at the park, what came into its sight were the thick green trees. The air was fresh. In addition, I could clearly see a path around the pond. Lying on the grasses decorated with various flowers, I felt with ease because all that I wanted was peace inside.
Therefore, with time going by quickly, the sun was setting in the west. So I had to return back home. I would never forget such romantic experience, which was really beyond description.

The traditional Chinese lunar calendar divides the year into 24 solar terms. Grain Rain (Chinese: Gu Yu),as the last term in spring, starts on April 19 and ends on May 4.
Grain Rain came from the old saying, “Rain brings up the growth of hundreds of grains,” which shows that this period of rainfall is extremely important for the growth of crops. The Grain Rain marks the end of cold weather and a rapid rise in temperature. Here are five things that you may not know about the Grain Rain.
Key time for agriculture
Grain Rain brings a marked increase in temperature and rainfall and the grains grow faster and stronger. It’s a key time to protect the crops from insect pests.
Sandstorms occur
Grain Rain falls between the end of spring and the beginning of summer, with infrequent cold air moving to the south and wandering cold air in the north. From the end of April to the beginning of May, the temperature rises much higher than it does in March. With dry soil, an unpredictable atmosphere and heavy eastern winds, gales and sandstorms become more frequent.
Drinking tea
There is an old custom in southern China that people drink tea on the day of Grain Rain. Spring tea during Grain Rain is rich in vitamins and amino acids (氨基酸), which can help to remove heat from the body and is good for the eyes. It is also said in the south that drinking tea on this day would prevent bad luck.
Eating toona sinensis
People in northern China have the tradition to eat the vegetable toona sinensis during Grain Rain. An old Chinese saying goes “toona sinensis before the rain is as tender as silk”. The vegetable is nutritious and can help to strengthen the immune system. It is also good for the stomach and skin.
Grain Rain Festival
The Grain Rain festival is celebrated by fishing villages in the coastal areas of northern China. Grain Rain marks the start of the fishermen’s first voyage of the year. The custom dates back to more than 2,000 years ago, when people believed they owed a good harvest to the gods, who protected them from the stormy seas. People would worship the sea god and stage sacrifice food on the Grain Rain festival, praying for a wonderful harvest and a safe voyage for their loved ones.

Visitors worry that London is an expensive city but there really are so many free things to do here. The following ideas should get you started.
All of London's major museums are free, but most offer some special exhibitions for a fee. My favorite is the Museum of London where you can learn the history of London from Roman times to today. And I love the Geffrye Museum which shows English domestic interiors(內(nèi)務(wù)) and helps bring to life what it was really like to live in London.
I regularly hear people tell me the Queen Mary's Rose Gardens in Regent's Park is their favorite spot in London, and who am I to argue? I would also recommend St. James's Park as it offers one of the best views of Buckingham Palace. Hyde Park is enormous(巨大的) and Kensington Gardens nearby includes the ever popular Diana Memorial Playground and the Peter Pan Statue.
No visit to London is complete without seeing this military tradition. The Queen's Guard in London changes in the Forecourt inside the gates of Buckingham Palace at 11.30am every day in the summer and every other day in the winter. Get there early and view the spectacle(壯觀的場(chǎng)面) from outside the front gates.
Trafalgar Square is one of Britain's greatest visitor attractions and was designed by John Nash in the 1820s and constructed in the 1830s. This iconic square has many sights to see including Nelson's Column and the National Gallery. It is both a tourist attraction and the main focus for political demonstrations. Every December, Norway donates a marvelous(非凡的) Christmas tree, to thank Britain for liberation from the Nazis.

They may be small, and unable to have an adult conversation, but babies are proving their collective cleverness.
While your baby still might not be able to speak, he or she knows about you’re feeling down. Babies as young as 5 months of age can distinguish an exciting tune from a sad one, according to a study published in 2014 in the journal Neuron.
Speaking of music, it seems that babies can’t resist it. Not only are their ears sensitive to the beats, babies can actually dance in time to them, according to a study published in 2010. To test their dancing ability, the researchers played recordings of classical music and speech to them, and videotaped the results. The babies moved their arms, hands, legs, feet, and heads much more in response to the music than to speech. The findings suggest this dancing ability is innate(天生的) in humans.
Babies can apparently learn even while asleep. As newborn babies spend most of their time sleeping, this newfound ability might be crucial(至關(guān)重要的) for them to adapt rapidly to the world around them, and help ensure survival, the researchers say. The study was published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Deciding whether another person is helpful or harmful is crucial in choosing friends — and that ability starts being visible early. Kiley Hamlin of Yale University showed both 6– and 10–month–olds some anthropomorphized(人格化的) shapes, in which one shape helped another climb a hill, while a third shaped pushed the climber down. The little ones then got to choose which shape they preferred. For both age groups, most babies chose the helper shapes. This character–judging ability could be the first step in the formation of morals, Hamlin says.
1.What does the third paragraph mainly say?
A. Babies are born to dance.
B. Babies prefer classical music.
C. Babies love listening to music.
D. Babies can tell different tunes apart.
2.What can be inferred from the passage?
A. Babies can understand emotions.
B. Babies value friendship very much.
C. It’s hard for babies to adapt to the world around them.
D. Babies show no reaction to speech.
3.Kiley Hamlin found that babies ________.
A. love to make friends
B. learn nothing while asleep
C. can tell right from wrong
D. like watching anthropomorphized shows
