閱讀理解
"Positive energy" refers to anything that increases your feeling of well-being.
We are never short of books telling us to attract "positive" power by changing the way we view things. "Think positively," they say.
But British psychologist Richard Wiseman believes that we've got it the wrong way around.
Contrary to popular belief, Wiseman says that it is our behaviour that causes our thoughts and emotions. His newly published book Rip It Up , presents a radical insight (激進(jìn)的洞察力)into both the body and the brain. It claims that physical ac?tions are the quickest, easiest and most powerful way to instantly change how you think and feel. The Chinese version of the book has been available since August.
"If you want to be confident or successful, the best thing to do is to act the part," he writes. So don't just think about changing your life. Do it. Smiling makes you feel happy; clenching your fists (緊握拳頭)makes you feel powerful, and hold?ing your head up high makes you feel confident.
A century ago an American philosopher, William James, said," If you want a quality, act as if you already have it. " Rip It Up presents scientific evidence show?ing how simply acting his "as if" principle can increase motivation, improve confi?dence, promote persuasion, and change attitudes.
Try some of the tips Wiseman offers to gain positive energy:
1. Sitting up straight and crossing your arms can help you to become perse?vered.
2. Acting as if you are interested in what you have to do helps you overcome procrastination (拖延).
