【題目】閱讀短文,完成下列問題。
A
I was never very neat, while my roommate Kate was extremely organized. Each of her objects had its place, but mine always hid somewhere. She even labeled (貼標(biāo)簽 ) everything. I always, looked for everything. Over time, Kate got neater and I got messier. She would push my dirty clothing over, and I would lay my books on her tidy desk. We both got tired of each other.
War broke out one evening. Kate came into the room. Soon, I heard her screaming, "Take your shoes away! Why under my bed!" Deafened, I saw my shoes flying at me. I jumped to my feet and started yelling. She yelled back louder.
The room was filled with anger. We could not have stayed together for a single minute but for a phone call. Kate answered it. From her end of the conversation, I could tell right away her grandma was seriously ill. When she hung up, she quickly crawled (爬 ) under her covers, sobbing.
Obviously, that was something she should not go through phone. All of a sudden, a warm feeling of sympathy rose up in my heart. Slowly, I collected the pencils, took back the books, made my bed, cleaned the socks and swept the floor, even on her side. I got so into my work that I even didn't noticed Kate had sat up.
She was watching, her tears dried and her expression one of disbelief. Then, she reached out her hands to grasp mine. I looked up into her eyes. She smiled at me. "Thanks."
Kate and I stayed roommates for the rest of the year. We didn't always agree, but we learned the key to living together: giving in, cleaning up and holding on.
(1)What made Kate angry one evening?
A.She couldn't find her books.
B.She heard the author shouting loud.
C.She got the news that her grandma was ill.
D.She saw the author's shoes beneath her bed.
(2)The author tidied up the room most probably because___.
A.she was scared by Kate's anger
B.she hated herself for being so messy
C.she wanted to show her care
D.she was asked by Kate to do so
(3)What might be the best title for the story?
A.My Friend Kate
B.Hard Work Pays Off

【題目】閱讀下面短文,掌握大意,然后從各題所給的四個(gè)選項(xiàng)(A、B、C和D)中,選出最佳答案。
We live a life surrounded by robots. Nearly every robot has been made in some way1 up to a certain level or temperature. The machine will wait for “feedback” about the water2or temperature before it begins the washing cycle. In this way, a washing machine has been patterned after humans. We depend on 3from our five senses to find out what is happening around us and then make decisions about our actions.
Of course, some machines perform functions like humans, but much 4 than we do, such as calculators. A pocket calculator works faster than a human, never makes mistakes, and doesn’t get 5or bored.
Other robots are very similar to humans in their ability6 new things. In factories, robots can learn to do many different tasks, as they are shown by a human operator. For example, in a car factory, a person will guide a robot’s “arm” and “ 7” through the steps of the new job. The robot’s electronic “brain” will 8the information away, memorizing the steps so the next time it9can repeat the movements without a human operator. When the robot must be moved to a new job, its memory is 10so it is ready to learn the next job. Of course, at any time if there is anything 11in the process, different from the original task, the robot cannot 12 with it. It will signal for an engineer to come for repairs.
Some robots are considered very intelligent because they have more human abilities than others, such as “seeing” 13 cameras for eyes or “feeling” with metal fingers that can14shapes and even temperatures. 【題目】

You must have written your research paper, your personal essay, your book review-----whatever your school class requires. You think you have provided good information in the needed number of words.1

But is it really done? Many teachers and professional writers believe that writing is revision.2

Revision of writing is a necessary skill for students. The classroom is a good place to practice patience, concentration and listening. There are rewards with spending time with your thoughts and really taking time to compose your ideas in an orderly and reasonable way. You should put away your paper after you have written a first version, or draft. Wait several hours, maybe overnight, before working on it more.3 Not only are you refreshed, but you’re looking at things through different eyes. That’s what revision literally means—to see again through different eyes.

Following a four-step process may help you with your paper. The first step in the process is invention. It includes forming many questions about your subject. It is called “question-storming”.4Then comes the revision period. Take your time to read what you’ve written, to think about it, and maybe to re-shape it based on what you see now, as a kind of new person looking at it with a reader’s eyeglasses rather than a writer’s. The fourth step is called “publication”.5In a sense, anytime you turn it over to another person, that’s publication.

Probably, the process takes away some of the tension of writing. And worry about the quality of your writing often disappears when you share that writing.

A. Perfect writing is not possible.

B. In the second step, you draft and compose a paper.

C. And you feel good because your work is finished.

D. This is just like returning to a job after a vacation.

E. This does not mean your writing is professional publication.

F. What is most important is getting your thoughts and ideas on paper.

G. In other words, writing well means making needed changes and rewriting.
