The producer of a new Indonesian movie about President Obama's childhood years in Jakarta(雅加達) is hoping that interested Americans will flock to see the film, Little Obama, in theatres across the
country.
Little Obama is the creation of Damien Dematra, an Indonesian writer and artist who has worked
on the project since November when he was struck with the idea of writing about the time a young
Obama lived in Jakarta with his mother and stepfather in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
The film is based on a novel published in March Obama Anak Menteng, and focuses on the president's childhood friendships in Indonesia.
The novel and the film are fictionalized(把-編成小說) accounts of the president's time in Jakarta and
are based on interviews with people who are childhood friends and neighbours of Mr. Obama. Many
Indonesians share a deep pride about a man who spent part of his shaping years in the country and went
on to become U.S. president.
The film star is a 14-year-old Hasan Faruq Ali, an American who has lived in Indonesia with his family
for about 10 years. Like the president, he is the son of a white mother and a black father. Since filming
began, he has been under the shine of media attention. "My whole life changed overnight," he says.
The film, which was made on a budget of $1 million, won't get its first public screening until
Wednesday, but ads for the movie on YouTube have got a few thousand hits. It isn't clear whether
Little Obama will get a U.S. release(發(fā)行), but the film's producer says he is in talks with a U.S.
distributor(發(fā)行人).

Christmas came in extravagant(奢侈的) fashion to the Muslim desert emirate(酋長國) of Abu
Dhabi as a shining hotel uncovered a bejeweled(飾以珠寶的) Christmas tree valued at more than
11 million dollars on Wednesday.
It is "the most expensive Christmas tree ever" with "a value of over 11 million dollars", said Hans
Olbertz, general of Emirates Palace Hotel, at its inauguratuion(落成典禮).
The 13-metre (40-foot) evergreen, located in the gold hall of the hotel, is decorated with silver
and gold bows, ball-shaped decorations and small white lights. But the necklaces, earrings and other
jewellery hung around the tree's branches are what give it a record value. "It holds a total of 181
diamonds, pearls, sapphires and other precious stones," said Khalifa Khouri, owner of Style Gallery,
which provided the jewellery.
"The tree itself is about 10,000 dollars," Olbertz said. "The jewellery has a value of over 11 million
dollars-I think $1,141,150."
"This will probably be an entry into the Guinness book of world records," Olbertz said, adding that
Emirates Palace planned to contact the organization about the tree which is to stay until the end of the
year.
Asked whether the tree might be against religious sensibilities in the United Arab Emirates, where
the vast majority of the local population are Muslim, Olbertz said he did not think it would. "It is a
liberal(自由的) country," he said.
The hotel has had a Christmas tree up in previous years, but this year "we have to do something
different", and the hotel's marketing team hatched the plan, said Olbertz.

任務(wù)型閱讀。 Time management is important in our daily life. There never seems to be enough hours in the day to accomplish all you need to do. Here are some tips that might be of some help to you. ●Set up a plan. Go for a week at a time, and decide the most important ones. Include things you want to accomplish. Focus mostly on the things that are important to you. ●Control your stress. No matter what kind of pressure mounts on you, try to keep cool. Stressing out can lead to an early breakdown, which is definitely counter-productive when you have a list of things to do. It's easier to take a 10-minute break and cool off than to work all week with stress. ●Shut your door. When working under a schedule, perform your important tasks with your door shut to get them done. This will ensure a better quality time to get what needs to be done, done. ●Focus on one thing at a time. Forget trying to multi-task! You will lose concentration, and it will take you longer to accomplish what you set out to do. ●Just say "no." If you are constantly interrupted, and you really don't have the time to help out, just say "no." You're only one person, and you can't save the world by yourself! ●Stop wasting time on the phone. While talking on the phone, keep your conversations short, and to the point and you'll waste much less time. ●Be realistic. You can only do what you can do. Don't set out to accomplish the impossible. Do your best, but keep realistic expectations of yourself. ●Relax. The most important thing is remember to take time to relax, and regroup. You need a break every now and then to keep working efficiently. Even if it's a 10-minute walk, get away from your list and get refreshed. As families today get busier and busier, it's important to your own mental health to keep things on track. Don't delay; get your life in order now. | ||||

Mouse potatoes joined couch potatoes (who spend much time watching TV on the couch),
google officially became a verb and drama queens (extremely emotional persons) finally found
the attention when they crossed over from popular culture to mainstream English language.
The mouse potato, the himbo (attractive, empty-headed man) and drama queen were among
100 new words added to the 2006 update of America's best-selling dictionary, the Merriam-Webster
Collegiate Dictionary《韋氏大詞典》. The Internet search engine Google also found its way into
the dictionary for the first time as a verb, meaning to find information quickly on the worldwide web.
New words and phrases from the fields of science, technology, pop culture and industry are
chosen each year by Merriam-Webster's team of editors after months of looking through books,
magazines and even food labels. "They are not tracking spoken language. They are looking for
evidence that words have been used in the written English language," said Arthur Bicknell, senior
editor of Merriam-Webster.
Other words first coming into the dictionary this year were soul patch (a small growth of beard
under a man's lower lip), unibrow (two eyebrows joining together) and supersize the fast food
industry phrase for extra large meals.
The technology world contributed ringtones (changeable incoming cellphone call signals) and
spyware (software installed in a computer to track a user's activities) while biodiesel (生物柴油)
and avian influenza(禽流感) came from the world of science.
America's first dictionary - Noah Webster's A Compendious Dictionary of the English Language
was published 200 years ago and also introduced some fresh words that have now become familiar.
Those "new" words in 1806 included slang, surf, psychology, naturally and Americanize.
