第二節(jié) 讀寫任務(wù)(共1小題,滿分25分)

閱讀下面的短文,然后按照要求寫一篇150左右的英語短文。

Mankind is wasting things everywhere and everyday . Wherever we go , we can see that food is wasted just because of poor taste ; clothes are thrown away simply due to their old fashion . Trees are cut down merely for fuel ; wild animals are killed simply for meat and fur ; oil and coal are exploited (開采) in a bad way .

The worst example of man’s waste is the waste of time . Many people tend to spend their time on worthless things , such as wandering about in the street , gossiping(閑聊) in the office , sleeping too much during the day .

It is time to call for an end to the waste . On one hand , we must save on natural resources and make full use of them . On the other hand , we must value time .

第二節(jié):讀寫任務(wù)(共1小題,滿分25分)

閱讀下面的短文,然后按照要求寫一篇150詞左右的英語短文。

Why is it that we tend to value relationships more once they've ended? Is it simply human nature to take for granted the smile of someone close, the friendship of a relative, the concern of a neighbor? In the moment,we think that these people will be around forever.

Most of us never stop to imagine all those who have a profound impact on our lives. It’s so easy to justify this casual attitude by saying we are too busy, too tired, too involved with work, too concerned about money, and the list of excuses goes on and on. So enjoying a friendship may be put off for one day, and then another. Before long, feelings have faded, and there is less incentive to get together. Almost relegated to a chore now, precious moments become something to endure.

Usually, something dramatic must happen to change this apathy and pull one out of a rut. Perhaps it’s something shocking, like a death,a divorce, sudden illness,an accident — something stunning to force taking notice. Then comes the guilt, the re-assessment of feelings, the sadness of loss.

We long to have those precious moments once again,to share and express our feelings. Instead of waiting for an excuse, why not get out of the rut, take the initiative, and spend quality time with the people you value. Let them know how really important they are.

[寫作內(nèi)容]

In 1955, a man named Raymond Kroc entered a partnership with two brothers named McDonald. They opened a popular restaurant in California which sold food that was easy to prepare and serve quickly. Hamburgers, French fries, and cold drinks were the main food there. Kroc opened similar eating places under the same name, “McDonald’s”, and they were an instant success. He later took over the company, and today it is one of the most famous and successful “fast-food” in America and round the world.

Why was his idea successful? Probably the most important reason was that his timing was right. In the 1950s, most married women stayed home to keep house and take care of their children. In the 1960s, many women returned to the workplace. This meant that they had less time or energy to prepare meals, so they spent more on “ TV dinners ” and fast-food restaurants. Single parents also have little time to spend in the kitchen. People living alone also depend on this type of food, since cooking for one is often more trouble than it is worth.

Fast-food is not part of the diet of all Americans. Another trend of the 1960s, sometimes called the back-to-nature movement influenced many people to avoid food that was packaged or processed(處理). This preference for natural food continued to this day.

From the success of Raymond Kroc’s fast-food business, we can say that social economic trends influence where and what we eat.

The underlined sentence “Cooking for one is often more trouble than it is worth” means that ______.

A. cooking for some people is worth more money

B. it is not worthwhile to take too much time to cook for one person

C. there are more problems when one person cooks

D. divorce (離婚) causes people to change their eating habits

An idea implied but not directly stated in the reading is that ________.

A. many married women began to work in the 1960s

B. natural foods are still popular today

C. fast food is not part of the diet of all Americans

D. divorce causes people to change their eating habits

McDonald’s success lies in the following causes BUT_________.

A. people living alone tend to depend on fast food

B. single parents have little time to spend in the kitchen

C. many women returned to the workplace in the 1960s

D. Kroc chose the “Mc Donald” brothers as his partners

The main idea of the reading is that ________.

A. Raymond Kroc is the most successful fast-food business owner in the world

B. social and economic changes affect eating habits

C. fast-food is easy to prepare and serve quickly

D. Americans eat either fast food or natural food

There were smiling children all the way. Charily they knew at what time the train passed their homes and they made it their business to stand along the railway, wave to complete strangers and cheer them up as they rushed towards Penang. Often whole families stood outside their homes and waved and smiled as if those on the trains were their favorite relatives. This is the simple village people of Malaysia. I was moved.

I had always traveled to Malaysia by plane or car, so this was the first time I was on a train. I did not particularly relish the long train journey and had brought along a dozen magazines to read and reread. I looked about the train. There was not one familiar face. I sighed and sat down to read my Economics.

It was not long before the train was across the Causeway and in Malaysia. Johore Baru was just another city like Singapore, so I was tired of looking at the crowds of people as they hurried past. As we went beyond the city, I watched the straight rows of rubber trees and miles and miles of green. Then the first village came into sight, Immediately I came alive; I decided to wave hack.

From then on my journey became interesting. I threw my magazines into the waste basket and decided to join in Malaysian life. Then everything came alive. The mountains seemed to speak to me. Even the trees were smiling. I stared at everything as if I was looking at it for the first time.

The day passed fast and I even forgot to have my lunch until I felt hungry. I looked at my watch and was surprised that it was 3:00 pm. Soon the train pulled up at Butterworth. I looked at the people all around me. They all looked beautiful. When my uncle arrived with a smile, I threw my arms around him to give him a warm hug (擁抱). I had never done this before. He seemed surprised and then his weather-beaten face warmed up with a huge smile. We walked arm in arm to his car.

I looked forward to the return journey.
