第二節(jié) 讀寫任務(wù)(共1小題,滿分25分)

       閱讀下面的短文, 然后按照要求寫一篇150詞左右的英語短文。

When I was a little girl ,my mother always told me what I should do and not .What I can remember is that when I was in the primary school, I didn’t want to go to school because I hated the math teacher who used to punish me for I didn’t finish my homework on time. Instead of forcing me to go to school, my mother just told me if I didn’t go to school my friends and my teachers would not like me anymore. What’s more, she told me I should not hate the math teacher on account of my fault and never hate anybody if I wanted to be likable. Since that time, I have known that being likable is very important.

While I was growing up, I read a lot of books in order to be a likable person. There is a famous writer, Dale Carnegie. He wrote a book called How to Win Friends and Influence People, which taught me a lot .Being a likable person we should respect others and become genuinely interested in other people. In my opinion, the most significant one is that we should be honest and sincere. The second way is that we should be glad to give them a hand when it is needed. Finally, I suppose that being a good listener is quite important as well. We should participate in their suffering and encourage them in time.

In a word, only if we stand by the people even when they are in the darkest time and never desert them can we be a likable in the social life.

以下是旅游景點的信息:

A. Agra Fort

Near the gardens of the Taj Mahal stands the important 16th-century Mughal monument known as the Red Fort of Agra. This powerful fortress of red sandstone encompasses, within its 2.5-km-long enclosure walls, the imperial city of the Mughal rulers. It comprises many fairy-tale palaces, such as the Jahangir Palace and the Khas Mahal, built by Shah Jahan; audience halls, such as the Diwan-i-Khas; and two very beautiful mosques.

B. Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal is regarded as one of the eight wonders of the world, and some Western historians have noted that its architectural beauty has never been surpassed. The Taj is the most beautiful monument built by the Mughals, the Muslim rulers of India. Taj Mahal is built entirely of white marble. It was constructed over a period of twenty-two years, employing twenty thousand workers. It was completed in 1648 C.E. at a cost of 32 Million Rupees.

C. Keoladeo National Park

This former duck-hunting reserve of the Maharajas is one of the major wintering areas for large numbers of aquatic birds from Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, China and Siberia. Some 364 species of birds, including the rare Siberian crane, have been recorded in the park.

D. Humayun's Tomb, Delhi

This tomb, built in 1570, is of particular cultural significance as it was the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent. It inspired several major architectural innovations, culminating in the construction of the Taj Mahal. The gardens also contain the red-and-white sandstone and black-and-yellow marble tomb of Humayun’s wife and the tomb of Humayun’s barber.

E. Grand Canyon National Park

The Grand Canyon is perhaps the most awesome sight in the United States--and one of the wonders of the world. Much of the park's beauty is related to its geology and ecology. Schmidt explores the shape of the land, its plants and animals, and its human history. A fascinating book that everyone visiting the Grand Canyon should read. The Skywalk at Grand Canyon West is really exciting.

F.Sundarbans National Park

The Sundarbans covers 10,000 sq. km of land and water (more than half of it in India, the rest in Bangladesh) in the Ganges delta. It contains the world's largest area of mangrove forests. A number of rare or endangered species live in the park, including tigers, aquatic mammals, birds and reptiles.

Making fists is relaxing. It dictates the shape of the immediate future; it calms you down (it’s OK, it’s on a list somewhere) and it makes you feel good when you cross something off 0ist-making is standard practice in therapy for depression). It might even help you to get things done too. The more you have to do, the more you need a list and few people with high-powered jobs get by without them. Women always think they’re better at lists than men. Men tend to have Tasks which they assemble’ into Action Plans whereas women just have lists of Things To Do.

James Oliver, psychologist, has created his own “time management matrix (模式)”. He writes a list of things to do and then organizes them into categories: things that have to be done straight away, other things that it would be good to do today, things that are important but haven’t got to be done immediately and things that are less urgent but that he doesn’t want to forget. “Using categories to order the world is the way the human mind works,” he says. “After that, you should divide things into levels of importance.” But he also warns, “If people get too absorbed in making fists, it doesn’t work. They have too many categories and lose their ability to decide which is the most important.”

It’s all a question of what works best for you, whether it’s a tidy notebook, a packet of Post-it notes or the back of your hand. Having tried all these, student Kate Rollins relies on a computerized list, which is printed out each morning. “My electronic organizer has changed my life,” she says. “Up to now, I’ve always relied on my good memory, but now that I’m working and studying, I find I’ve got too much to keep in my head.”

So what are you waiting for? No, you’re not too busy to make today the first day of your upgraded time-managed life. In fact, there’s no better time titan the present to begin to take increased control of your work and life. So, get out your pencil and pen and make a list.

Some people have the ideas that nothing can be done about their poor reading ability. They feel hopeless about it.Can you learn to read better, or must you agree that nothing can be done about it?

To be sure, people’s abilities are different. You cannot expect to do everything as well as certain other people do.If all the students in a class tried out for basketball, some would be very good players; others would be very poor; and many would be in between. But even the very poor players can become much better players if they are guided in the right way, and with plenty of practice. It is the same with reading. Some seem to enjoy reading and to read well without any special help.Others find reading a slow and tiring job.In between, there are all degrees of reading ability.

Many experiments have shown that just about every poor reader can improve his reading ability.Firstly, the poor readers were given tests of reading ability.Secondly, some of the causes of their poor reading were discovered, and then they were given special instruction and practice in reading. After a few months, another test of the same kind was given. In nearly all cases, these people had raised their reading scores.
