There are some very good things about open education. This way of teaching allows the students to grow as people, and to develop their own interests in many subjects. Open education allows students to be responsible for their own education, as they are responsible for what they do in life. Some students do badly in a traditional classroom. The open classroom may allow them to enjoy learning.   71   They will not have to worry about grades or rules. For students who worry about these things a lot, it is a good idea to be in an open classroom.

72   For some students, there are too few rules. These students will do little in school. They will not make good use of open education, which is very different from traditional education. These students may have a problem getting used to making so many choices.   73   They worry about the rules even when there are no rules. Even a few rules will help this kind of students. The last point about open education is that some traditional teachers do not like it.   74   Teachers who want to have an open classroom may have many problems at their schools.

You now know what open education is, whose good points and bad points have been explained. You may have your own opinion about open education. I think that open education is a good idea, but only in theory.   75   I believe that most students, but of course not all students, want some structure in their classes. They want and need to have rules. In some cases, they must be made to study some subjects. Many students are pleased to find subjects they have to study interesting. They would not study those subjects if they did not have to.

A. Many teachers do not believe in open education.

B. Open education is better than traditional education.

C. But many students will not do well in an open classroom.

D. Some students will be happier in an open education school.

E. The teachers’ feeling and attitudes are important to the students.

G. For many students it is important to have some rules in the classroom.

Sunday is more like Monday than it used to be. Places of business that used to keep daytime “business hours” are now open late into the night. And on the Internet, the hour of the day and the day of the week have become irrelevant (不相關(guān)的).A half century ago in the United States, most people experienced strong and precise dividing lines between days of rest and days of work, school time and summer time. Today the boundaries still exist, but they seem not clear.

The law in almost all states used to require stores to close on Sunday; in most, it no longer does. It used to keep the schools open in all seasons except summer, in most, it still does. And whether the work week should strengthen its legal limits, or whether it should become more “flexible,” is often debated. How should we, as a society, organize our time? Should we go even further in relaxing the boundaries of time until we live in a world in which every minute is much like every other?

These are not easy questions even to ask. Part of the difficulty is that we rarely recognize the “l(fā)aw of time” even when we meet it face to face. We know as children that we have to attend school a certain number of hours, a certain number of days, a certain number of years but unless we meet the truant officer (學(xué)監(jiān)) ,we may well think that we should go to school due to social custom and parents’ demand rather than to the law. As adults we are familiar with “extra pay for overtime working,” but less familiar with the fact that what constitutes(構(gòu)成) “overtime” is a matter of legal definition. When we turn the clock forward to start daylight – saving time, have we ever thought to ourselves: “Here is the law in action?” As we shall see, there is a lot of law that has great influence on how organize and use time: compulsory education law, overtime law, and daylight – saving law as well as law about Sunday closing, holidays, being late to work, time zones, and so on. Once we begin to look for it, we will have no trouble finding a law of time to examine and assess.

67. By saying” Sunday is more like Monday than it used to be,” the writer means that __________.

A. work time is equal to rest time

B. many people have a day off on Monday,

C. it is hard for people to decide when to rest

D. the line between work time and rest time is unclear

68. The author raises the questions in Paragraph 2 to introduce the fact that people____.

A. fail to make full use of their time

B. enjoy working overtime for extra pay

C. are unaware of the law of time

D. welcome flexible working hours

69.According to the passage, most children tend to believe that they go to school because they_____.

A. need to acquire knowledge

B. have to obey their parents

C. need to find companions

D. have to observe the law

70. What is the main idea of the passage?

A. Our life is governed by the law of time.

B. How to organize time is not worth debating.

C. New ways of using time change our society.

D. Our time schedule is decided by social customs

Hey there,

So you’re about to spend four years of your life and tens of thousands of dollars of your parents’ money, and all you really know about college is that all of your friends are going. Do you ever stop to wonder why you’re going?

Relax. You’re making the right decision. First of all, you’ll discover what interests you by taking courses in many subjects. For example, it’s hard to decide if you want to be a painter if you’ve never painted any picture; once you’re in a drawing-room on campus, you’ll know one way or the other. College is also a lot of fun — after you graduate, you’ll be working every weekday for 50 or so years. And remember that college graduates earn about twice the income of those who never attended college.

Finding the right college can be difficult. Fortunately, Johnson Review is here to help you every step of the way.

*Researching Schools. To us, the most important decision you’ll make is to choose the school that really fits you best — not the one that is the most competitive (有競(jìng)爭(zhēng)力的) or has the best-equipped rooms.

*Applying to School. On JohnsonReview.com , you’ll find hundreds of actual college applications(申請(qǐng))and links to many more .

*Raising Your Scores.  American College Test is one of the most difficult parts of the admissions (錄取) course . It’s not the most important, though, and not everyone needs to prepare for the test. But, if you think you can do better, find the right course for better scores.     *Paying for School. Most families need financial aid for the high cost of college. The problem is that financial aid seems difficult to get and many families get caught up in the price of college rather than learning the ways to get financial aid . If you really do your research, you’ll learn that you can afford to attend any college, no matter the cost.

When women sit together to watch a movie on TV, they usually talk simultaneously(同時(shí)的)about a variety of subjects, including children, men, careers and what' s happening in their lives. When groups of men and women watch a movie together, the men usually end up telling the women to shut up. Men can either talk or watch the screen -- they can' t do both -- and they don' t understand that women can. Besides, women consider that the point of all getting together is to have a good time and develop relationships -- not just to sit there like couch potatoes staring at the screen.

During the ad breaks, a man often asks a woman to explain the plot and tell him where the relationship between the characters is going. He is unable, unlike women, to read the subtle body language signals that reveal how the characters are feeling emotionally. Since women originally spent their days with the other women and children in the group, they developed the ability to communicate successfully in order to maintain relationships. For a woman, speech continues to have such a clear purpose: to build relationships and make friends. For men, to talk is to relate the facts.

Men see the telephone as a communication tool for sending facts and information to other people, but a woman sees it as a means of bonding. A woman can spend two weeks on vacation with her girlfriend and, when she returns home, telephone the same girlfriend and talk for another two hours.

There is no convincing evidence that social conditioning, the fact that girls' mothers talked to them more, is the reason why girls talk more than boys. Psychiatrist Dr Michael Lewis, author of Social Behaviour and Language Acquisition, conducted experiments that found mothers talked to and looked at, baby girls more often than baby boys. Scientific evidence shows parents respond to the brain bias of their children. Since a girl’s brain is better organized to send and receive speech, we therefore talk to them more. Consequently, mothers who try to talk to their sons are usually disappointed to receive only short grunts in reply.

59.While watching TV with others, women usually talk a lot because they

A. are afraid of awkward silence with their families and friends

B. can both talk and watch the screen at the same time

C. think they can have a good time and develop relationships

D. have to explain the plot and body language to their husbands

60. After a vacation with her girlfriend, a woman would talk to her again on the phone for hours in order to              .

A. experience the happy time again    B. keep a close tie with her

C. recommend her a new scenic spot   D. remind her of something forgotten

61. What does the author want to tell us most?

A. Women' s brains are better organized for language and communication

B. Women love to talk because they are more sociable than men.

C. Men do not like talking because they rely more on facts.

D. Social conditioning is not the reason why women love talking.

62. Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?

A. Women Are Socially Trained to Talk      B. Talking Maintains Relationships

C. Women Love to Talk                   D. Men Talk Differently from Women
