There was once a famous king whose name was Tamerlane. Like Alexander the Great, he   36  to become the master of the whole world. So he raised a great   37  and made war on other countries. He conquered(征服，打�。� many kings and   38  many cities. But at last his army was beaten; and Tamerlane escaped alone from the field of   39 .
For a long time he wandered in   40  from place to place. His enemies were   41  him. He was about to lose all hope.
One day he was   42   under a tree, thinking of his failure. He had now been a wanderer for twenty days. He couldn’t   43  any longer. Suddenly he saw a small object climbing up the trunk (樹干) of the tree. He looked more   44  and saw it was an ant,  45  a grain of wheat（麥粒） as large as itself.
There was a   46  in the tree only a little way above, and that was the home of the ant.

And this he did.

Perhaps the most interesting person I have ever met is an Italian professor of philosophy who teaches at the University of Pisa.    21    I last met this man eight years ago, I have not forgotten his    22    qualities. First of all, I respected his   23    to teaching. Because his lectures were always well-prepared and clearly delivered, students crowded into his classroom. His followers liked the fact that he    24   what he taught. Furthermore, he could be counted on（依賴） to explain his ideas in an     25    way, introducing such aids to   26   as oil paintings, music, and guest lecturers. Dash of Hope
"Dash" is a symbol which represents every day we've spent alive on earth. Therefore, how you spend your "dash" is important.
Recently I  36  about a little girl named Hope. After learning more about her life, I couldn't help but feel it was not by  37 , nor happenstance（意外事件）, that she had been named "Hope". The strong feeling of sympathy and generosity  38  in her young heart made a lasting impression on me and countless others.  39  I never had the opportunity to meet her, I wish I had. It seems as though she was wise beyond her tender years and very, very special.
Hope was a twelve-year-old girl who was  40  a "wish" in early December 2010 by the "Make-A-Wish" Foundation after being  41  that she had a rare type of bone cancer. However, when she found out that more than 150  42  in her area were waiting for their wishes to be achieved , she unselfishly used her wish to  43  that those children have their wishes granted. She also asked that it be done  44  January 16, 2011. Unfortunately, however, the organization informed her that her  45  request could not be granted as the funds were simply  46 . They calculated that they would need to raise more than one  47  dollars in thirty days in order to grant her wish.  48 , but not discouraged, she turned her disappointment into an enthusiasm that inspired caring  49  to take up helping grant the wishes of the other children, and eventually  50  as well. Newspaper columnists and reporters for radio and TV stations  51  the story of this caring young girl who had  52  the hearts of so many and as word spread, the community was challenged. Committees were fanned and schools, corporations and various organizations assisted in  53  money to help make Hope's dream come true.
Her efforts were not in vain as they continue to help others, not only  54 , but spiritually and emotionally as well. At the gathering to celebrate her life, "A Celebration of Hope" on January 16, 2011 , the  55  was made that they had indeed received donations totaling more than one million dollars. Her wish had been granted!

After the quake hit northeast Japan on March 11, many moving stories that I saw with my own eyes happened around me.
I had to walk home since all the  41  had stopped after the earthquake. On my way home I  42  an old lady at a bakery shop who was giving out free bread, which made my heart  43 . A man was holding a sign that said, “Please use our  44 .” He was  45  his house for people to go to the restroom.
My friend wanted to  46  others. He stood in the cold with a sign “If you’re okay with a motorcycle, I will  47  you to your house.” And then I saw him take one gentleman home, all the way to a faraway place! 
Then next day I drove to  48  my car with gas. There is a lack (缺乏) of  49  now and many gas stations are either closed or have very  50  lines. I got  51 , since I was behind 15 cars. Finally, when it was my  52 , the man smiled and said, “ 53  this situation, we are only giving $30 worth gas per person. Is that alright?” “ 54 . I’m just glad that we are all able to  55 ,” I said. His smile gave me so much comfort.
I saw a man at the evacuation (疏散) center  56 when people brought food to him. It was the first time in three days that food was brought to their center. However, after he wiped the tears, his next  57  surprised me. “I am very  58  that we are provided with food. But people in the city next to us haven’t  59  any food at all. Please go to that center as well.” And when hearing that, I realized there is a bright future on the other side of this  60 .

Despite the great progress in medical science, human beings are constantly attacked by cancer, which means death. A woman named Bonnie suffered a   36  of discomforts caused by the treatment of cancer. She didn’t regard cancer as a   37  disease, but a laughing matter. She treated it in a humorous way. To put it in   38  way, she is teaching people that even though cancer isn't   39 , we can treat it in a humorous way.
Her second child was going to be born three months away   40  she was diagnosed with cancer. Suddenly, a   41  mother turned into a helpless woman afraid for her own   42 . It was after she had had her baby   43  that she had an operation.   44  came chemo（化療）and her life seemed to be made up of fears and   45 . But the   46  moment in her life came after she lost all her hair and a free wig(假發(fā)) arrived. She   47  it on as her older son Kyler watched.
“That was when I decided how to   48  it: crying over this bad wig or laughing about it.   49  way would make   50  remember it.” Bonnie said. She spent a lot of time looking for anything funny from cancer patients. She got a lot out of collecting   51  stories. She started laughing a lot, finding it the perfect medicine. Using herself as a bald (光頭) model, Bonnie   52   to design her own greeting cards and calendars, making fun of the sufferings of chemo.
"To have joy, we badly   53  to laugh," she said.
Clearly, you can increase your confidence to   54  over any disease and trouble   55   laughing.

There are many kinds of friends. Some are always  36 you , but don't understand you. Many people will step in your life, but only  37  friends leave footprints. (腳印).
I shall always remember the girl with the  38  .
It was the golden season. I could see the yellow leaves  39  in the cool  40 . In such a season, I liked walking alone in the leaves,  41  the sound of them.
Autumn is a  42  season but to me life is uninteresting. The free days always get me  43 . But one day, the sound of a violin  44  into my ears. I saw a young girl was  45  in playing her violin.

Inspiration
“Mama, when I grow up, I’m going to be one of those!” I said this after seeing the Capital Dancing Company perform when I was three. It was the first time that my __36__ took on a vivid form and acted as something important to start my training. As I grew older and was __37__ to more, my interests in the world of dance __38__ varied but that little girl’s dream of someday becoming a __39__ in the company never left me. In the summer of 2005 when I was 18, I received the phone call which made that dream a __40__; I became a member of the company __41__ back to 1925.
As I look back on that day now, it surely __42__ any sense of reality. I believe I stayed in a state of pleasant disbelief __43__ I was halfway through rehearsals (排練) on my first day. I never actually __44__ to get the job. After being offered the position, I was completely __45__. I remember shaking with excitement.
Though I was absolutely thrilled with the change, it did not come without its fair share of __46__. Through the strict rehearsal period of dancing six days a week, I found it vital to __47__ up the material fast with every last bit of concentration. It is that extreme __48__ to detail (細節(jié)) and stress on practice that set us __49__. My life as a little person is filled with stories. I enjoy talking to children and explaining why I look different from their parents．It has taken many years of   36  my confidence to be able to do that．
I didn’t   37  how short I was until I started school．As time went on，I just tried to smile and accept the fact that I was going to be   38  my whole life．I was determined to make my   39  an advantage rather than a disadvantage．My friends became increasingly   40   . When I was in primary school, I got into a major argument with a boy named Tom in my class. I can’t remember what it was about,  21 I have never forgotten the  22  I learned that day.
I was 23 that I was right and he was wrong--and he was sure that I was wrong and he was right. The 24decided to teach us a very important lesson. My English teacher, Ms Green  25 both of us up to the 26 of the class and 27  him on one side of her desk and me on  28 . In the middle of her desk was a large, round object. I could  29 see that it was black. She asked the boy what  30  the object was. “White,” he answered.

The teacher told me to go stand where the boy was standing and told him to come stand where I had been. We changed  34  and now she asked me what the color of the object was.
