Recently I had completely changed my views about life after a talk with one of my friends. He told me despite being  31  , he was happy and   32  that it was because of something he saw in Thailand.
A few years ago he was  33 feeling sad and was touring Thailand. He said right in front of his very eyes, he saw a mother 34  her child's right hand with a knife. The helpless  35 in the mother's eyes and the scream of the 36  four-year-old child still remained in his mind.
The 37 mother made the child handicapped (disabled)  38   he could go out on the streets to beg.   39 by the scene, he dropped a small piece of bread he was eating.
And almost at once, several children  40   around this small piece of bread covered with sand, 41  bits from one another. It was the 42   reaction of hunger. He then went to the nearest bakery and bought every single loaf of bread.   43  he gave out the bread to the children (mostly handicapped), he  44    cheers and bows from these  45  children. For the first time in his life, he understood  46  people could give up their 47  for a loaf of bread. He came to  48 how fortunate he was to be able to have a sound body, have a job, have a family, have the chance to  49  about food that didn't taste good, and have the many things that these people in front of him   50  dreamed of having. Perhaps life wasn't bad at all.

Alone in the light at the dining room table, surrounded by a nearly dark house, I sat in tears.
Finally, I  36  in getting both kids to bed. As a new single  37 , I had to be both Mommy and Daddy to my two little children.
With full rights of my children, I  38  to give them a normal and comfortable home life. I  39  a happy face for them.

A good student is always equated to one who gets good grades. But is that all that a good student is? What is a   1 good student? Is he someone who is the teacher's pet? Someone who tops every test? Someone who has the smarts? A good student is all this and more, because, you see, it’s not just about books and repetitive  2 .
Being a good student takes much more than that. There are certain  3 that make him a good student. That is  4 what we shall be looking into – the qualities of a good student. There will help you  5 what a good student is and what are the qualities that one needs in order to become one.
A good student has great   6 skills. He has the ability to plan and organize not only his actions but his  7 as well, for being well organized allows a person to be prepared for all the situations that are to   8 . That could not have been   9 if he had taken up the studies at the last minute.

There is nothing that comes without hard work and that is exactly what a good student has to possess. He is instead someone who will do his work sincerely and put in all his efforts without compromising on quality.

Once my mother told me a story that in Africa, when an antelope (羚羊) wakes up every morning, the first thing it thinks about is, “I must be 36 to run faster than the fastest lion, or I will be killed.” 37 , a lion wakes from his dream. The first thing the lion thinks about is, “I must be able to catch the 38 antelope, or I will starve to 39 .” So almost simultaneously(同時(shí)地), the antelope and the lion get up and start running toward the 40 sun.
This is 41 : full of chances and challenges. Whether you are an antelope or a lion, you must go 42 when the sun rises. For students, it is just the same. If we don’t study hard, sooner or later, we will 43 the other students. At first I didn’t know what the word “exam” 44 . Later, I knew an exam was a kind of 45 . In competitions, there are always winners and 46 . As I grew up, I got to know competition well. In one’s life, there must be competitions, so people can 47 .

Just listen
I suspect that the most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen. Just listen. That morning, I stepped into the classroom, ready to share my knowledge and experience with seventy-five students who would be my English Literature class. It was a long term, and it  14  became clear that my ideas about education were not the same as_15 of my students. I’m Monty Don. Though I’m a host and writer now, I had an unhappy study experience actually. I changed   36  many times.
I first went to school at five. None of my teachers or classmates liked me because I always gave them a lot of trouble. I once put a worm in a girl’s pocket. When I was seven, I was asked to

Later I met a very   39  teacher, who cared for me and helped me with my study. He was also the first person to encourage me to act and write. At 13, I moved to Malvern College, but I was kicked out at 15 for   40  school rules. Then I went to another school where I failed my English A level. In fact, I didn’t like studying.
I finally   41  that life shouldn’t be like this. So I retook the exam and got an A grade. And more   42 , I made a decision: to go to college, so I began to   43  for the entrance exam. I finally passed the exam and went to Cambridge to read English. I met my wife there and I was

When we read books we seem to enter a new world. This new world can be similar to the one we are living in, or it can be very __50__. Some stories are told as if they were true. Real people who live in a __51__ world do real things; in other words, the stories are about people just like us doing what we do. Other stories, such as the Harry Potter books, are not __52__. They are characters and creatures that are very different from us and do things that would be impossible for us.
But there is more to books and writing than this. If we think about it, even realistic writing is only __53__. How can we tell the difference between what is real and what is not real? For example, when we read about Harry Potter, we do seem to learn something about the real world. And when Harry studies magic at Hogwarts, he also learns more about his real life than __54__. Reading, like writing, is an action. It is a way of thinking. When we read or write something, we do much more than simple look at words on a page. We use our __55__, which is real, and our imagination, which is real in a different way, to make the words come to life in our minds.
Both realism and fantasy (幻想) use the imagination and the “magic” of reading and writing to make us think. My grandson is seven now. He lives 100 miles away. He  36 my mobile phone number when he was only four.  37 , he has called me every night.

Every child needs at least one  55  in their life to listen and share with. I am glad to give my grandson the love he needs.

After a long day at school, I walked home with my heavy schoolbag. Sleepy and  1 , I threw my things on the sofa and picked something from the  2 to eat. I passed by the living room and wished I could watch TV, but I knew my  3 would take me the whole night. I took my schoolbag and went  4 to my room. Sometimes, I wonder how my mom can still be  12 after coming back from work. Every weekday, she wakes up  13 in the morning to go to work and spends all hour on the bus before getting downtown. At a  14 factory, she works standing for the whole day and draws patterns(圖案) for clothes over and over. After work, my mom at times gets stuck(被困) in  15 for two hours on her way back home. When I 16 my school life with her work life, I should not be the one to  17 . At least I have some interesting things to do at school, but one mistake at work can cost my mom her job.
