題目列表(包括答案和解析)

Walk through the Amazon rainforest today and you will find it is steamy, warm, damp and thick. But if you had been around 15,000 years ago, during the last ice age, would it have been the same ?For more than 30 years, scientists have been arguing about how rainforests like the Amazon might have reacted(反應)to the cold ,dry climates of the ice ages ,but until now ,no one has reached a satisfying answer.

Rainforests like the Amazon are important for mopping up CO2 from the atmosphere and helping to slow global warming . Currently the trees in the Amazon take in around 500 million tons of CO2 each year; equal to the total amount of CO2 giving off in the UK each year. But how will the Amazon react to future climate change? If it gets drier ,will it still survive and continue to draw down CO2 ?Scientists hope that they will be able to learn in advance how the rainforest will manage in the future by understanding how rainforests reacted to climate change in the past.

Unfortunately ,getting into the Amazon rainforest and collecting information are very difficult .To study past climate ,scientists need to look at fossilized pollen ,kept in lake muds .Going back to the last ice age means drilling deep down into lake sediments (沉淀  物),which requires specialized equipment and heavy machinery .There are very few roads and paths ,or places to land helicopters and aeroplanes .Rivers tend to be the easiest way to enter the forest ,but this still leaves vast areas between the rivers completely unsampled(未取樣).So far ,only a handful of cores have been drilled that go back to the last ice age and none of them provide enough information to prove how the Amazon rainforest reacts to climate change.

64.The underlined phrase “mopping up” in the second paragraph means      .

       A.cleaning up          B.taking in                 C.wiping out           D.giving out

65.How will the Amazon rainforest react to future climate change?

A.It’ll get drier and continue to remove CO2 .

B.It’ll remain steamy ,warm ,damp and thick .

C.It’ll get warmer and then colder and drier.

D.There is no exact answer up to present.

66.What’s the main idea of the last paragraph?

A.It’s important to drill deep down into lake sediments to collect information.

B.It’s impossible to prove how climate changes in the Amazon rainforest.

C.It’s hard to collect information for studies of the past climate in the Amazon rainforest.

D.It’s necessary to have specialized equipment and machinery to study the past climate.

You have the ability to decide whether you are happy or not. Happiness is a choice.
You can’t depend on someone else to make you happy. That is a lesson I learned early in my marriage. I realized that I couldn’t rely on my husband as my source of happiness. I learned that my happiness depended on myself and not my husband’s actions. I learned that you have to choose to be happy.
You can choose your emotions. True happiness comes from within, and it can’t be forced by outside force. So how do you choose happiness? The same way, you choose to smile or choose to wear a certain outfit(一套衣服). You choose it because that’s what you want to experience in you life.
You want to buy a new pair of shoes so you choose a pair that you like and feels good. You wouldn’t buy a pair of shoes that you don’t like or that doesn’t fit well, right? So why do we keep choosing emotions and feelings that don’t make us feel good?
Choosing to be happy after you realize your anger has shown up (or even choosing to be calm) can be beneficial. We choose our feelings; no one else can do that for us. If we let others get to us, influence our emotions — we are giving them power over us. When others cause us anger or pain, we are giving them our power.
We need to keep our feelings in check and not to react(反應) automatically to what is thrown at us. We need to think our actions out instead of just reacting to what someone says or does.
Remember that we can always choose happiness. At first it will be difficult to just switch(使轉變)your thoughts and feelings from anger, self-doubt, or fear to joy and happiness. But it is only a thought away. Don’t dwell on(細想) what happens to you unnecessarily but realize what is causing you to feel that way. Realize that thoughts, feelings and emotions can change. Then move on and choose to be happy.

There’s a time to get angry, and it’s best for your child if you do. Let’s say your child hits a playmate with a toy hard enough to make the other child cry. How can you teach your child to feel sorry so he or she won’t do it again? Researchers say the best way for parents to react(反應)is to show their anger and to let the child know exactly why they are mad.

Many parents believe that it is best to control their feelings and to wait until they’re calm before scolding their children. But the mother or father who explains reasonably to a child , “Peter was crying because you hit him,” is not likely to attract much attention. Young children need to be scolded immediately, and strongly, before they’ll take criticism (批評)to heart.

When your young child does something wrong, scold him or her seriously at once. At the same time be sure to tell the child clearly what he or she has done wrong. An angry reaction without an immediate explanation does little good. Forbidding a child to play outside or not allowing him to watch TV as a punishment works well-but only when taken together with an explanation. Make sure your child understands that although his or her wrongdoing has made you angry, you still love him or her. Use simple, direct words such as, “You hurt peter. How would you feel if he hit you? You must never, never hurt people.” If your voice expresses strong feeling clearly, your message will carry enough weight.

1.According to researchers, how should parents react when their child did something wrong?

A.Ask the child not to do it again any time.

B.Show the child how angry they are and tell him why.

C.Teach the child why and how to say sorry to others.

D.Let the child know you still love hime or her.

2.What do many parents think they should do with the wrongdoer?

A.Calm themselves down before scolding him.

B.Hide their feelings when talking to him.

C.Explain immediately why he was wrong.

D.Speak strongly and angrily to him.

3.What could be the best title for the text?

A.Different Ways to Deal with Children’s Wrongdoings

B.Differences among Parents in Dealing with Children

C.Best Ways to Stop Children’s Wrongdoings

D.Research on Preventing Children from Hurting Others
