題目列表(包括答案和解析)

One in four Chinese primary school students say they are too busy to eat fruit every day, while many dislike fruit for the simple reason that their __16__tell them to eat it.

That is the result of a recent survey __17__the Chinese Association for Student Nutrition & Health Promotion(中國(guó)學(xué)生營(yíng)養(yǎng)和健康促進(jìn)協(xié)會(huì)), who last month issued a questionnaire among 1,500 children in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. They__18___ 28 percent didn't eat fruit every day and of those who did, one in seven did not eat enough.

Among students who didn't eat fruit every day, 50 percent said it was because they "didn't have time" and 40 percent of those who didn't like fruit said it was because "my parents____19___ me to".

"Fruit is a natural source of many nutritional elements(營(yíng)養(yǎng)元素), can balance a person's nutritional intake and help to ___20___overweight(超重)," says Association director Du Yuxia.

He says about 20 percent of primary school students in Beijing and Guangzhou are overweight, while the figure is  __21___30 percent in Shanghai.

Hu Xiaoqi, a nutrition expert with the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), believes a student should eat at least 150 grams of fruit a day. Moreover, fruit juice is not an adequate substitute because the fruit __22__ contains more fiber and vitamins than juices, which are usually high in sugar and contain preservatives.

Hu says primary school students should be encouraged to eat one or two fruits every day. ___23___many students found they didn't have time to eat fruit before breakfast or in the evening, they should be encouraged to ___24__fruit to school and eat it during class breaks . Finally, she suggests that parents encourage their children to eat fruit, instead of forcing them.

Ma Guansheng, deputy ___25____of the CDC's Nutrition and Food Safety Institution(營(yíng)養(yǎng)和食品安全機(jī)構(gòu)), says: "6-12 years old is a crucial time for physical development. Children at this age need an adequate and balanced nutritional supply to guarantee the normal growth of the body."

Have you ever wondered?
1.      Why do airplanes take longer to fly west than east?
It can take five hours to go west-east from New York (NY) to London but seven hours to travel east-west from London to NY. The reason for the difference is an atmospheric phenomenon (大氣現(xiàn)象) known as the jet stream (氣流). The jet stream is a very high altitude (=" above" sea level) wind which always blows from the west to the east across the Atlantic. So the planes moving at a constant air speed go faster from the west to the east when they are moving with the wind than in the opposite.
2.      What would happen if the gravity on Earth was suddenly turned off?
Supposing we could magically turn off gravity. Would buildings and other structures(建筑物)float away? What happened would depend on (依靠) how strongly the things were attached (吸附) to the earth. The earth is moving at quite a speed, moving at over a thousand miles per hour. If you turn something around your head on a string, it goes around in a circle until you let go of the string. Then it flies off in a straight line. ‘Turning off’ gravity would be like letting go of the string. Things not attached to the earth would fly off in a straight line. People in buildings would suddenly shoot upwards at a great speed until they hit the ceiling (=" top" surface of a room). Most things outside would fly off into space.
【小題1】What information can we get from the first passage?

C.It takes more time to fly from NY to London than from London to NY.

【小題2】The underlined word “shoot” in the 2nd paragraph means “_________”.
A.send for B.move quicklyC.come out D.grow quickly
【小題3】It can be known that without gravity _________.
A.buildings and other structures would float away
B.trees and buildings would not so easily fly off
C.something around your head would not float away
D.everything outside buildings would fly off into space
【小題4】Where can we read this passage?
A.In a research paper. B.In a short story.

Try this: for a whole day, forget about the clock. Eat when you’re hungry and sleep when you’re tired. What do you think will happen?

You may be surprised to find that your day is much like most other days. You’ll probably get hungry when you normally eat and tired when you normally sleep. Even though you don’t know what time it is, your body does.

Inside our bodies are several clocklike systems that follow a 24- hour cycle. Everyone is unique, which is why you might like to stay up late while your sister always wants to go to bed early.

Regularly staying up late can make kids do worse on tests and quizzes. And working shifts at night leads to higher rates of heart disease.

“There is a growing sense that when we eat and when we sleep are important parts of how healthy we are,” says Steven Shea, Director of the Sleep Disorders Research Program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

“During the night, we are prepared to sleep,” Shea says. “During the day, we are prepared to eat and move around, If you reverse ( 顛倒) what you are doing, everything is out of phase. That can have adverse consequences.
