Do you want to be happier? Well, you can do something about it. Some psychologists( 心理學(xué)家) believe that 10% of your happiness is due to life conditions and 40% is the result of your own choices. Your own choices include how you manage your time at school, your relationships, your friends, your activities and your health. So you have a lot of control over how happy you feel.【1】 Here are some tips on how to do that.
Surround yourself with positive( 積極的) people. Spend time with positive people and your ideas will become active. On the other hand, good friends will encourage, support, and lift you up when you're down.【2】
That's also true for the people that we work with Don't try to be perfect. Remember that nothing can ever be perfect.【3】
Instead think about what you already have. Think about what you've already done. Think of where you are today as a step towards tomorrow. Don't try to be perfect, just try to do things well﹣with excellence.
Focus on now. Don't think about all the things that can go wrong, like failing at school or your friend leaving you. Thinking like this only results in worry and stress, which is a waste of time and energy.【4】 Just worry about making today great, because the best way to be happy is just to enjoy each day.
Compare yourself to yourself, not to other people. There will always be someone smarter, or richer, or better looking or more successful than you. There will always be someone with a bigger house and a bigger boat than you. Someone will always have more. Rather, look at what you have got and who you are, accept and value that. Work toward being a better one than you were last month or last year. 【5】 And you will feel a lot happier with, and about yourself.
A.They see the best in you, and that helps you see the best in yourself.
B.That way you will be pleased with the progress that you are making.
C.The key is to take control by making choices and developing habits that make you happier.
D.You can control how happy you are, since giving always makes you feel happier.

【題目】 How can you get the most information from a book? Here are some suggestions that can help you read effectively(有效地).
Read the whole thing.
When you're learning something by reading, it's more important to have a general idea than to understand every detail(細(xì)節(jié)). In fact, no matter how carefully you read, you won't remember or understand all of the details. So remembering the main points will be OK.
Decide how much time you will spend.
If you know that you have only six hours for a book, it'll be wise of you to adjust(調(diào)整) yourself. The more clearly you know your limits(時(shí)限), the more effective your reading will be. So never start to read without planning when to stop.
Have a purpose.
Before you begin, find out why you want to read this book. If you don't have reasons of your own, you can't learn much. After you start to read, try to think of four questions: Who is the writer? What are the book's opinions? What are the reasons? What are the conclusions(結(jié)論)?
Read it three times.
You'll get the most out of the book if you read it three times-fast-reading for general ideas, reading for understanding, and then reading for note-taking and remembering.

【題目】 In a common-place environment, at a not right hour, do we notice beauty? If so, do we stop to enjoy it? Do we know talent in an unexpected situation?
In Washington, DC, at a Metro Station, on a cold January morning in 2007, the man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, about 2,000 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.
A middle-aged man noticed that there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds, and then he hurried off. A woman threw money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk. A young man leaned against (斜靠) the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again. A 3-year old boy stopped, but his mother pulled him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pulled him hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head the whole time. This action was repeated by several other children, but every parent—without exception—forced their children to move quickly.
Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace. The man collected a total of $32.

I should have no problem crossing this desert! But as she started her journey, she found herself slowly disappearing into the sand.
