Do you believe that you aren’t smarter than 3-year-old Alexis Martin, one of the youngest members of the high IQ club Mensa? Preschooler (學(xué)齡前的) Alexis’s IQ is 159, which is only one point lower than Stephen Hawking’s. Doctors say the average IQ of a person is about 100.
She learned to read at the age of 2. She reads at a fifth grade level and has taught herself Spanish on her parents’ iPad! Now, she is a member of the Mensa Club, which only accepts people with an IQ within the top two per cent of people in the world!
Alexis’ father, Ian Martin, said he first realized Alexis was special when she was 12 months old. She could recite (背誦) bedtime stories. “We’d be driving around in the car and she would recite her bedtime stories from the night before. She didn’t just recite them, and she recited them exactly.”Alexis’ father would try to trick her and say that her story went a different way, but she always corrected him. Most 12-month-old children take their first steps on their own and most 18-month-olds can only name a small number of objects and body parts, and follow simple two-step questions.
Even though Alexis is a genius (天才), her parents are faced with lots of challenges like how to teach her to make friends of her own age.
“Will she go into kindergarten early? We are kind of hesitant (遲疑的) because we do want her to get to that social world,” Ian said.

Have you ever asked your relatives or friends if there is Wi-Fi in their houses? Have you ever searched for Wi-Fi when you are at restaurants or hotels? The answers will probably be "Yes". Most of us want Wi-Fi everywhere as if we can't live without it. But we can only use free Wi-Fi in some public places. We still have to spend some money accessing(連接)the Internet at most time. Here comes a piece of good news.
A rich, powerful organization in the USA called the Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF) has decided to change the age of online computing (計(jì)算) completely by giving free Wi-Fi to every person on Earth. They will send up hundreds of satellites into low Earth orbit(軌道)in 2015.
This is because they have made a survey and found that only 60% of the world's population have been able to get information on the Internet. And this is also because many countries are unable to offer people the necessary infrastructure(基礎(chǔ)設(shè)施)to access the web.
We can expect to use free Wi-Fi everywhere in the near future.

As teenagers, you have a lot of dreams. These dreams can be very big, such as winning the Nobel Prize, or they can be small, you may just want to become one of the top ten students in your class.
Once you find a dream, what do you do with it? Do you ever try your best to make your dream real? Making our dreams real is life’s biggest challenge.
You may think you’re not very good at some subjects, or that it is impossible for you to become a writer. These kinds of thoughts prevent you from being successful.
In fact, everyone can make his dream come true. The first thing you must do is to remember the dream in your mind. Don’t let it leave your heart. Keep telling yourself what you want. Do this step by step and your dream will come true faster because a big dream is made up of small ones. Please never give them up.
