keep finish fix chat reply

3Neither Tom nor his twins________to their friend’s emails in the last two weeks.

4Please trust me, I________ the secret to ourselves. Tell me now.

5The two travellers________about the weather in a traditional English way when they met.

1has been fixing

2finishes

3have replied

4will keep

5were chatting

根據(jù)對(duì)話可知“the whole afternoon”指從過去到現(xiàn)在的整個(gè)下午,所以用現(xiàn)在完成進(jìn)行時(shí);根據(jù)“mending his bike”可知此處指修理自行車,fix修理,故填has been fixing。

根據(jù)上句“Will he come and join us in the match”可知此處指他完成工作就回來,finish完成;until引導(dǎo)的時(shí)間狀語中如果主從句的動(dòng)作都未發(fā)生,主句用將來時(shí),從句用一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)表示將來,結(jié)合句意,可知主從句動(dòng)作沒有發(fā)生,所以此處用一般現(xiàn)在時(shí),主語是第三人稱單數(shù)形式,故填finishes。

根據(jù)“in the last two weeks”可知該句用現(xiàn)在完成時(shí);根據(jù)“emails”可知此處指回復(fù)朋友的電子郵件,reply回復(fù),答復(fù);neither…nor在連接主語時(shí)有就近原則,此處和雙胞胎保持一致,故填have replied

keep the secret to sb對(duì)……

根據(jù)“when they met”可知該句用過去進(jìn)行時(shí),表示在過去某一時(shí)間點(diǎn)正在發(fā)生的動(dòng)作;根據(jù)“in a traditional English way”可以推測(cè)此處指聊天氣,chat聊天現(xiàn)在分詞為chatting,故填was chatting

Some people seem to have extraordinary (非凡的) memories. Zheng Aiqiang, a “memory athlete” on TV show Super Brain (《最強(qiáng)大腦》), can remember 2,660 numbers in just one hour!

You would think people like this have special brains. But according to a recent study by researchers from the United States and the Netherlands (荷蘭), the brain structure (結(jié)構(gòu)) of ordinary(普通的) people and 23 of the world’s leading memory athletes shows no difference.

That’s because good memories can be trained. New research in the journal Neuron (《神經(jīng)元》) suggests that you can become a super memorizer with just six weeks of hard training, reported The Guardian.

Researchers found that a technique (技巧) called loci, invented by the ancient Greeks, can greatly help improve memory.

By using loci, you are using your imagination to improve the brain’s memory networks. You can link (關(guān)聯(lián)) something you need to remember with a place that you know very well. For example, to remember a list of numbers, imagine yourself walking through your house. Each thing is linked to a number. For example, zero could be the handle (把手) on the door and five could be the painting on the wall.

“Not everyone can become a (memory) champion. But everyone using the technique can improve a lot from the level they’re at,” said Boris Konrad, one of the researchers in the study.
