【題目】---Did you ask the guard______

---Yes, he told me all________ he knew.

A.what happened; thatB.what the matter was what

C.what was the matter; whatD.what was up what

【答案】A

【解析】

句意:——你問警衛(wèi)發(fā)生了什么事嗎?——是的,他告訴我他所知道的一切。

考查賓語從句的語序及定語從句的引導詞。what happened/what was the matter/what was up是同義句,意為“發(fā)生了什么事/怎么了?”賓語從句的語序是陳述句語序,即“連接詞+主語+謂語+其它成分”。當從句的原句為what'sthematter/what'swrong/what'shappening/what happened以及who/what作主語時,從句的語序不變,所以排除B項。已知答語中的all是先行詞,則定語從句的引導詞只能用that而不用which,所以排除C、D兩項。故選A。

If you went to a supermarket and found it had no cashiers(收銀員),would you still pay for your things?Cashier-free supermarkets are developing fast abroad. It's reported that a convenience store was located in JianguomenBeijing last year. Customers could pay with Alipay or put cash in an honesty box(誠信箱).

In the first hour, about 30 customers came into the store. Many successfully followed the given directions, scanned the QR code and paid online. Some of the customers paid in cash directly into the box. A few customers did not understand how to pay and left. In the afternoon, customers were not so honest. Three women came into the store, grabbed expensive items and left. A man walked in, put 10 Yuan on the counter and asked staff, "Is this the cashier-free supermarket?" Without waiting for an answer, he grabbed expensive alcohol and cigarettes and walked out.

Hu Tao, general manager of Sesame Credit, hopes that the experiment helps people realize the importance of honesty.

Many believe that the cashier-free model would not work long-term in China.

Students at a middle school in Guangdong also faced a test of honesty. In their school supermarket, they need to scan their things, and put the money into the cash desk all by themselves. By now, the supermarket runs very well. Students say they enjoy the feeling of being honest.

【題目】閱讀下面短文,根據所讀內容,在文章后小題的空格里入一個最恰當的單詞,并將答案填寫在相應位置上。注意:每個空格只填1個單詞。

A rain forest gets huge amounts of rain. That’s why it’s called a rain forest! More than 100 inches of rain fall there each year. In contrast, Los Angeles, California, gets only about 15 inches of rain per year.

Rain Forest Plants and Animals

A rain forest has hundreds of kinds of trees and flowers. Under your feet is a carpet of leaves.Moisture (水氣) is dripping everywhere. Hardly any light reaches the ground because tall trees form a canopy (樹冠), or upper layer, high above. It hides the sky and provides shade.

A rain forest is noisy! Bird squawk. Thousands of insects buzz and hum. Monkeys chatter in the trees. Beetles grow as big as your hand. Some frogs grow as big as a milk carton!

Why Are Rain Forest in Trouble?

Rain forests are very important to life on Earth. They recycle. Tree roots use dead plants as food. Rain turns into clouds that make more rain. Trees take in carbon dioxide (二氧化碳) and gives off the air we breathe.

Yet rain forests are in trouble. People cut down trees to get wood and land to farm. Most trees are not replaced. Many scientists think this may be a cause of global warming. Loggers also may leave rubbish behind. This is a kind of pollution.

The balance of life in a rain forest is complicated (復雜的). Plants and animals depend on one another. If one dies out, others do, too.

The Children’s Rain Forest

Children in a Swedish school were studying rain forests. They learned that rain forests were in trouble. The class stated a project to save a rain forest in Costa Rica. The class bought about 15 acres of land. They paid 525 per acre. The students hoped that the land they bought would be protected and not destroyed.

The students became so interested in rain forests that they decided to get a closer look at areal river. They saw alligators (短吻鱷) crocodiles. A guide took Myers and his students into the rain forest. “The monkeys were not happy that we were in their forest. They broke small branches on the trees and threw them at as.” One of the students said. “It was a great learning experience for all of us,” said Myers. This was the start of the children’s Rain Forest. This project works to save rain forest all over the world.
