【題目】閱讀短文,下列問題
D
Pupils spend more time at school than they spend with their parents. So communication (變流) between them can be difficult. Parents spend the whole day on work and they come home in the evening. Then they hardly talk with or pay attention to (注意) their children. And it is worse (更不好的) if parents work in another town. Parents and children only spend weekends together. This is bad because we know how important communication is to people, especially (尤其) to children. To grow up healthily, children need to learn to communicate. That is why I think school is more important in forming (塑造) children's characters.
First, school is a place where children can learn how to read and write. They can have good conversations and learn good manners from teachers. School is also the place where they can meet other pupils and learn how to communicate with others.
Second, children can find out what it means to work in a team every day. Teachers show children how important it is to get information. The things children learn at school help them make important decisions in later life.
School has responsibility(責(zé)任)for children's future. So teachers should work as hard as they can.
(1)The writer mainly tells us_____.
A.Pupils spend more time at school than with their parents.
B.Parents and children only spend weekends together.
C.School has a great influence (影響) on children.
D.It's bad that parents spend less time with their children.

A.Because they don't want to stay at home.
B.Because they have few things to talk about.
C.Because they have little time to talk with their children.
D.Because they would like to stay alone.
(3)Which can NOT support the writer's opinion. "school is more important in forming children's characters"?
A.Children can learn good manners from teachers.
B.Teachers know more than parents.
C.The things children learn at school help them make important decisions in later life.
D.Teachers and schoolmates can help children learn how to work in a team.

【題目】In modern society there is a great deal of argument about competition. Some value it highly, believing that it is responsible(負(fù)責(zé)任) for social progress. Others say that competition is bad; that it sets one person against another; that it leads to unfriendly relationship between people.

I have taught many children who held the belief that their self-worth depended on how well they performed at tennis and other skills. For them, playing well and winning are often life-and-death affairs(事件). The development of many other human qualities is sadly forgotten.

However, while some seem to be lost in the desire(渴望)to succeed, others take an opposite attitude. In a culture which values only the winner and pays no attention to the common players, they are strongly against competition. Most of them are young people who have suffered under competitive pressures from their parents or society. Teaching these youngsters, I often observe(觀察) in them a desire to fail. They seem to find failure by not trying to win or achieve success. By not trying, they always have an excuse: " I may have lost, but it doesn't matter because I really didn't try." What is not usually accepted by themselves is the belief that if they had really tried and lost, that would mean a lot. Such a loss would be a measure(估量) of their worth. Clearly, this belief is the same as that of true competitors who try to prove themselves. Both are based on the mistaken belief that one's self-worth depends on how well one performs in the competition. Both are afraid of not being valued. We can discover a new meaning in competition only as this kind of fear begins to disappear.

A. One's worth lies in his performance in the competition.

B. One's success in competition needs great efforts.

C. One's achievement is decided by his special skills.

D. One's success is based on how hard he has tried.

【4】Which point of view may the author agree to?

A. Every effort should be paid back.

B. Competition should be encouraged.

C. Winning should be a life-and-death matter.

D. Fear of failure should be removed in competition.
