【題目】 Gulangyu,a beautiful island in Xiamen,Fujian, was successfully listed in the UNESCO World Heritage(世界文化遺產(chǎn))on July 8th,2017.It’s not only the pride of my hometown, but also the pride of the whole nation.
Gulangyu is separated from Xiamen by the 600-metre-wide Egret River(鷺江), with an area of 1.91 square kilometers. It’s like a garden on the water. You can go there only by ships. Cars, buses and bikes are not allowed to run on the island. It is so quiet that wherever you go, you can hear the sound of playing the piano. As a result of this, it is called “the island of music”.
The first name of the island was Yuanzhouzi. In the Ming Dynasty it was changed as Gulangyu, meaning “drum waves”.Because the holes in the southwestern reefs (暗礁)hit by the waves make sounds like the drum beating.
Today, Gulangyu is listed as one of the nation’s major travelling places of interest here include the Sunlight Rock,Shuzhuang Park,Gangzihou Bathing Beach and Memorial Hall to Zheng Chenggong, which are visited by millions of people from all parts of the country and the world. What’s more, the buildings and food are popular with visitors.

【題目】 How can you get the most information from a book? Here are some suggestions that can help you read effectively(有效地).
Read the whole thing.
When you're learning something by reading, it's more important to have a general idea than to understand every detail(細(xì)節(jié)). In fact, no matter how carefully you read, you won't remember or understand all of the details. So remembering the main points will be OK.
Decide how much time you will spend.
If you know that you have only six hours for a book, it'll be wise of you to adjust(調(diào)整) yourself. The more clearly you know your limits(時(shí)限), the more effective your reading will be. So never start to read without planning when to stop.
Have a purpose.
Before you begin, find out why you want to read this book. If you don't have reasons of your own, you can't learn much. After you start to read, try to think of four questions: Who is the writer? What are the book's opinions? What are the reasons? What are the conclusions(結(jié)論)?
Read it three times.
You'll get the most out of the book if you read it three times-fast-reading for general ideas, reading for understanding, and then reading for note-taking and remembering.

【題目】 London Bridge is between the City of London and Southward. It is between Cannon Street Railway Bridge and Tower Bridge. London's original bridge made this one of the most famous bridge in the world.
The first London Bridge is thought to have been built by the Romans sometime in the first century, with several rebuild over the centuries. In the end, wooden bridges were replaced (代替) with a stone bridge, the first one being started in 1176 and finished years later. During its whole history, London bridge has been a busy thoroughfare (通道) and was once lined with shops. The road over the bridge was only about 4 meters wide between the shops. It was not wide enough and it was often crowded with people, horses and cars. In 1773 a keep left rule was enforced (強(qiáng)制執(zhí)行) to keep the traffic moving. This became the rule of the road in Britain.
In 1757 the houses and shops on the bridge were pulled down. A new bridge was built in 1831 to replace the old one. This in turn was pulled down in 1967 and rebuilt in Lake Havasu City, USA, as a tourist attraction. The present London Bridge opened in 1973.
