Scientists say that the cold started in the Arctic (北極) .The sea ice there has been melting (融化) because of global warming.

This changes how the air moves. "Some areas of the ocean act like a heater as the water is warmer than the Arctic air above it. ” said Professor Stefan.

At the same time,melting ice means more water. This means more water vapor (水蒸氣) in the air,which means more snow.
