【題目】 There was a time when hot summer days brought children outdoors to local rivers to catch minnows (米諾魚). Walking in cool rushing water to catch the small, silver fish was a fun chance on a hot summer's day. Before setting out for the river in their neighborhood, however, children first had to look for a bag. Both boys and girls loved this outdoor activity a lot.
While reaching the side of the river, the children pulled off their shoes and socks and put their feet first into the cold water. Walking carefully in the water, they looked for the right place where the minnows flashed (閃光). Catching minnows was very easy if two children worked together. Taking two corners of the bag, each child stood in the water and slowly lowered the bag until it was at the bottom of the river. Then, standing very still (靜止的), the children waited for the fish in the river to do normal activity. The children would again get a corner of the bag in each hand and raise the bag straight up quickly, keeping it as level as possible. Lots of tiny silver fish would cover the bag.
The joy of catching minnows is that, once caught, the fish are thrown back into the water to continue their natural lives. Perhaps they will be taken up by other children and then return to their watery home again. So the bag is lowered back into the river, and the small fish swim off. Then the whole process is repeated once more as more minnows are caught and then released (釋放).

【題目】 Have you ever wished you could change something about your body? If so, you're not alone.
Many people use apps (手機(jī)軟件) like MeituXiuxiu to edit photos before posting them on social media. Some teenagers are even having plastic surgery (整容) at an early age. Zeng, a senior 2 student from Chengdu, had a double eyelid surgery done this summer. She and many of her classmates believe bigger eyes look more beautiful.
As teenagers' bodies grow and change, they become aware of the smallest flaw (缺陷) in their looks. They are very worried about it. This can affect their health.
According to Huxiu News, over 60 percent of girls refuse to take part in some daily activities such as going to school, because they feel bad about their looks. As much as 31 percent of teenagers do not want to speak up in class because they worry that others will notice their looks.
One of the main causes is advertising, TV shows and social media. Pictures of "perfect" faces and bodies are everywhere. They suggest that having large eyes, pale skin and skinny bodies is the only way to be beautiful. Magazines give tips about how to lose weight "in days". Advertisements suggest that you should whiten your skin using certain products. And TV shows often make fun of overweight characters. Seeing all these things can make people believe that they should change their bodies.
So what should we do? According to Nancy Etcoff of the Harvard Media School, "We need to help young people in many ways. These ways can include educating students about body confidence in school, as well as encouraging parents to talk to their kids about his topic. After all, beauty comes in all shapes and sizes" Etcoff said.
