Obama had a good time at the Great Wall. He who has never been to the Great Wall is not a true man. US President Barack Obama is a true man. Obama had a four-day visit to China last week. He had a very busy schedule (日程) . But he still spent some time visiting the Forbidden City and the Great Wall.
When a leader visits another country, he or she sometimes goes to the country’s most famous places. It is to show respect to the local culture. For the leaders, it’s also a good time to relax during a tiring foreign trip.
Obama spent 50 minutes in the Forbidden City on Tuesday. He thinks the Forbidden City is a “magnificent (華麗的) place to visit”. He said: “I’ll come back to China again with my wife and daughters.”

【題目】 What is the difference between a fear and a phobia? You might have a fear of dogs if you have ever been bitten by one. However, if you avoid walking down streets where you think there might be a dog, you may have a phobia, which is a strong unnatural fear. If the fear has started to change a person’s life, he or she probably has a phobia. Different surveys say that between 10 and 80 percent of us have at least one phobia.
You can probably guess what some of the most “popular” phobias are. Flying may be the safest way to travel, but many people are scared of doing it. Fear of heights is also very common. For example, Spider-Man actor Tobey Maquire can’t stand high places. However, Tobey is not afraid of spiders that most people are afraid of. Rupert Grint, who plays in the Harry Potter movies, is in fear of spiders. “In one scene of the movie, we come into the large spider’s hole, and there we meet a spider that is the size of an elephant and really scary because he has these hairs. I’m really scared of spiders,” he said.
Some people have phobias that are more unusual. For example, cats are very cute for most of us, but not for such powerful people in history as Alexander the Great and Napolean Bonaparte. Actor Nicole Kidman says, “I’m not scared of snakes or spiders, but I’m scared of butterflies. Sometimes when I came home from school, the biggest butterfly you had ever seen would be just sitting on our front gate. I would climb over the fence, move slowly to the side of the house, or do anything to avoid having to go through the front gate.” Clowns (小丑) are not so funny for actor Johnny Depp, whose childhood memory of the “painted faces and fake smiles” still makes him scared. Some other weird (怪誕的) phobias, including chewing gum, old doors or windows and footsteps, also fear some famous persons, such as Orah Winfred, Billy Bob and Sigmund Fred.
【1】Rupert Grint who acted in Harry Potter is scared of________ .
A.dogsB.snakesC.spidersD.butterflies
【2】Which of the following behaviors can be a phobia for these persons?
A.Cathy dislikes keeping a pet cat at home.
B.Victor cannot sleep well before the exams.
C.Linda feels very tired climbing the mountains.
D.Doris shouts crazily whenever hearing footsteps at night.
【3】We can infer (推斷) from the passage that________ .
A.people are born with phobiasB.phobias are common in our daily life
C.famous people are easier to get phobiasD.phobias do not influence people’s life at all

【題目】 Once while being prepared for a television interview, I was chatting with the host about stay-at-home fathers. Why are we seeing more stay-at-home dads? I thought maybe it’s because a man doesn’t make more money than his wife. Many families now take earning (賺錢) power into consideration when deciding which parent will stay home.
At that point, one of the members expressed his opinion, “It should be the better parent who stays at home”. A lot of guys say things like that. I was a stay-at-home father for eight years, so what he said made me excited. It showed that our family’s choice could only have been correct if I was a “better” parent than my wife.
I suppose an argument could have been made that when I began staying home my wife was the “better” parent: She had spent more tune with our son, could read him better and calm him more quickly. And if he had a choice, he’d have picked her over me. But as she was the more employable (有人雇傭的) one, my wife went out to work and I looked after our son.
Because of the increased time I spent with him, I soon knew him well, understood what he needed and could look after him more or less as my wife could. Actually, the experience helped me unlock one of the world’s great secrets: Women are good at looking after the children because they do it. It’s not because of a mother’s instinct (本能)—which I think is mostly learned anyway. It’s because they put in the time and attention required to become good at the job.
Women are able to give birth and nurse, but over the long term experience is more important. When I got the experience myself, I was good, too. As good? I don’t know. Who cares? Children are not made of glass. Other people are able to look after them besides Mom.
【1】Which of the following does the first paragraph (自然段) tell us?
A.Men are no longer given the chance to stay at home as they used to.
B.In some families the wives are earning more than their husbands.
C.The writer is telling the readers that he works in the TV station.
D.There are more stay-at-home fathers than stay-at-home mothers.
【2】According to the underlined sentence in the second paragraph, we can infer (推斷) that________.
A.the writer thought he made more money than his wife
B.the writer didn’t think he could be a good parent
C.the writer thought he should go out for a job
D.the writer thought he could look after their son, too
【3】The writer decided to stay at home eight years ago because ________.
A.it was easier for his wife to find a jobB.he thought he was the better father
C.their son liked him a little bit betterD.he was earning more than his wife did
【4】Women are better than men at taking care of children because ________.
A.they spend more time doing itB.they love children and enjoy it
C.they were born with the abilityD.they have learned it at school
【5】Which of the following is the writer’s conclusion at the end?
A.He is better than his wife at taking care of children.
B.He isn’t as good as his wife at taking care of children.
C.Either fathers or mothers can take care of children.
D.Both fathers and mothers cannot take care of children.

【題目】閱讀下面的材料,根據(jù)材料內(nèi)容回答問題。
Mr. Guo, a teacher from Xi’an asks his students to hand in their homework through a QR code (二維碼). “We spent an hour or two in class learning how to generate (使產(chǎn)生)the codes, and in the end everything gets easier” said Guo. “When students finish the homework, they keep it on WeChat. Then, each student makes his own QR code and gives it to me. So I can check their work everywhere using my computer or telephone.”
The QR codes can be sent to Mr. Guo by email, QQ and WeChat. When Guo scans (掃描)his students’ QR codes, their homework appears on his phone. He finds that their homework becomes more creative, with many pictures, music and even videos.
Guo’s students like the new way and think it is interesting. “We are living in the information age. Many students like to work with computers, which makes learning more fun”, said Tingting, a student of Guo’s.
“The paper is not easy to keep, but the code is easy to keep and share,” Guo said “It is worth trying to use new technology in education. Education itself is a kind of creation. I don’t want my students to fall behind the times.”
However, some parents are worried. They are afraid that their children will spend too much time on computers and less time communicating with teachers. But in fact, it’s unnecessary. Students still need to look up information in books and write it down when they do their homework. They only use the codes when they hand in their work, which doesn’t take them too much time. Also for teachers, it allows them to check the students’ work at any time. And it’s also an easy way to share homework with other students.
【1】How can Mr. Guo check his students’ homework?

【2】Where do Guo’s students keep their homework?

【3】Why does Mr. Guo think his students’ homework becomes more creative?
