 September 20 was the 15^th National Tooth Protect Day. On that day, more than 10,000 young students gathered in Shenzhen to clean teeth on the streets.

  “It’s exciting to brush teeth on the street. But with so many people, I am a bit shy,” said Zhang Xi, a Junior 2 student at Shenzhen Wenjin Middle School.

  More importantly, she learned how to look after teeth. “ I didn’t know how to take care of my teeth before. Now, I will clean them longer and more carefully.”

  Most teens clean their teeth every day but there are still problems because they often finish cleaning them in just one minute. A new Ministry of Health(衛(wèi)生部) report shows that about 50 percent of teenagers in China have problems such as decyed teeth(齲齒). Some teenagers have bad eating habits, others don’t know how to clean their teeth.

  Liu Xiaoyuan, a dentist, says there are many ways to protect teeth and he gives some good advice:

  Clean your teeth for three minutes each morning and evening and clean every side of your teeth carefully;

  Do not eat too much sugar of soft drinks;

HITTING the water with almost superman’s love and strength, Sun Yang has made history after his excellent performance at the London Olympic Games.

The 20-year-old Sun became the first Chinese man to win gold in swimming. He took home four medals in total, two golds, one silver and one bronze.

Sun said his success was down to hard work. For years he has made it a rule to swim 20km every day. “When I trained in Australia, it was winter. Although the weather was cold and I was tired, I started training at 4:30am,” he said. The post-1990 athlete is popular not only because of his victory in London, but also his sportsmanship.

Nicknamed “Sun Mengmeng” online, which in Chinese refers to his innocent (清白的。無辜的) appearance and charming （魅力）personality, Sun has gained more than 10 million followers on Sina Weibo. 　 When I was at university, I studied very hard. But a lot of my friends did very little work. Some did just enough to pass exams. Others didn’t do quite enough. Fred Baines was one of them. He spent more time drinking in the Students’ Union than working in the library.

　 Once at the end of the term, we had to take an important test in chemistry. The test had a hundred questions. In my room the night before the test, Fred was watching TV. Fred usually worried a lot the night before a test. But on that night he looked perfectly calm. Then he told me of his plan. “It’s very simple. There are a hundred questions and I have to get fifty correct to pass the test. I’ll take a coin into the examination room. I haven’t studied a chemistry book for months, so I’ll just toss (扔，拋) the coin. That way, I’m sure I’ll get half the questions right.”
