【題目】 My mother used to ask me what is the most important part of the body. Through the years I would guess at what I thought was the correct answer.

When I was younger, I thought sound was very important to us as humans, so I said, “My ears, Mommy.” She said, “No. Many people are deaf. But you keep thinking about it and I will ask you again soon.”

Several years passed before she asked me again. Since making my first attempt, I had contemplated (仔細(xì)考慮) the correct answer. So this time I told her, “Mommy, sight is very important to everybody, so it must be our eyes.” She looked at me and told me, “You are learning fast, but the answer is not correct because there are many people who are blind.”

Over the years, Mother asked me a couple more times and always her answer was, “No, but you are getting smarter every year, my child.”

Then last year, my Grandpa died. Everybody was hurt. Everybody was crying. My Mom looked at me when it was our turn to say our final good-bye to Grandpa. She asked me, “Do you know the most important body part yet, my dear?”

I was shocked when she asked me this now. I always thought this was a game between her and me. She saw the confusion on my face and told me, “This question is very important. It shows that you have really lived your life.” I saw her eyes well up with tears. She said, “My dear, the most important body part is your shoulder.”

I asked, “Is it because it holds up your head?”

She replied, “No, it is because it can hold the head of a friend or loved one when they cry. Everybody needs a shoulder to cry on sometimes in life, my dear. I only hope that you have enough love and friends that you will have a shoulder to cry on when you need it.”

Then and there I knew the most important body part is not a selfish one. It is sympathetic to the pain of others.

1Why did the writer first think “ears” were the most important part of body?

A.Because he thought that the sound was sweet to hear.

B.Because he thought that the sound was essential to humans.

C.Because he thought that the sound can be heard by people.

D.Because he thought that the sound can pass through quickly.

2What happened to the writer’s family last year in the passage?

A.His house was burnt.

B.His mother left home.

C.His grandpa passed away.

D.His father was hurt in an accident.

3Where did the writer get the correct answer from his mother?

A.At home.B.At the school.

C.At the station.D.At the funeral.

4What can we learn from the passage?

A.We should learn to understand others’ pain.

B.We should listen to our mothers’ words.

C.We should hold up our head high.

D.We should often cry in life.

With the global climate crisis and health pandemics, remote learning has become even more relevant today. Schools, universities and corporates can continue affording education and training by remote technology in the time of social distancing due to the COVID-19 crisis. 1

Gone is the need to be on campus at a specific time of day and remain there for the duration of numerous classes. 2. More importantly, it has also made learning a practical choice for many rural communities who are unable to travel the vast distances to school every day and to remote teams working for companies located afar.

3

When it comes to learning, one size doesn’t fit all People have varied learning styles that change depending on the nature of the content they are trying to absorb. E-Learning allows learners to personalize their education, focusing on areas that need greater attention in more detail. Also, rather than being a one-way path where the learner listens and takes in information, online training means that learners can pursue areas that interest them in more detail.

Better Engagement

Keeping learners engaged throughout the training is one of the key struggles. One of the strengths of E-Learning is the diverse nature in which the course content is delivered. 4 Some online learning communities allow trainers to provide multimedia recording to make training more engaging. With the game engine, they also have the option to gamify content and include rewards once sections are completed for young employees and fresh graduates who might have just passed out from school and are still transitioning to the corporate world. 5

Hearing the news that the 2022 Winter Olympics will be held in China, I felt very exciting. It struck me how I learned skating when I was a child. In the age of 7, I began to go crazy about skating, like all my friends. At the beginning, it was not very hard for me to keep my balance. I always fall over on the ground. As the result, I thought I had no gift for skating. So I gradually lost confidence but became upset. The upset I was, the more terribly I did. I was about to give up while my father came to help me. Encouraged by her, I gained confidence and stood up again. As I practiced skating, he always created a relaxing atmosphere and offered some specific advices. In the end, I made it.

【題目】 Here's a story I collected from a total stranger.

“Well, I am Lucy. I was 11 when my family arrived at Fern lake overlook on Trail Ridge road in Rocky mountain national park.

It was so beautiful to look miles across the Rockies and thousands of feet below into the valley.

My parents were busy getting lunch out of the trunk so I climbed over the wooden fence to get closer to the cliff edge for a better view.

I started down a little hill but soon started sliding on loose rocks.

I fell on my butt (屁股), but kept going faster and faster to what seemed the edge of the world (a 2,000 foot drop). In seconds I knew I was going to die. My feet and legs went first over the edge at a high speed. Then suddenly I felt two hands push hard on my chest and stopped me dead. My heart was racing and I slowly inched my body back to where I finally could make it back up the hill.

My father was waiting there and screaming at me for doing such a dangerous act.

I tried to tell him and my mom about the hands that saved my life, but to this day they don't believe me. They thought I was just trying to get out of trouble with a made up story.”

We parted ways, but I assured her that I believed every word of her story.
