It was Valentine's Day, my freshman year of college. I was so young, the romantic type. All I wanted was a rose. A single rose to __36__ up my Valentine's Day.
Valentine's Day at school was over, and I had no rose to __37__ in my locker like I had hoped. I came home a little __38__. I sat in my room dreaming about next year's romantic Valentine's Day __39__ the doorbell rang. There at the front door was a deliveryman __40__   one single rose to my house. Surely this rose wasn't for me. I didn't have such __41__. I closed the front door with a single rose in my hand and gave it to my mother. “__42__  the card!” she insisted when I told her it must be for her. I unsealed the envelope as my hands were __43__. I slowly lifted the card and read what it said:
To Amanda
From someone who cares
I must have read it twenty times in a matter of seconds, __44__ my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. But they weren't. The rose was for me. I must have been __45__ for about five minutes, until I started __46__ the obvious people and __47__ them of sending me a rose and playing a joke on my __48__ romantic heart. No one knew who sent it to me. My friends, family  and relatives were as __49__ to hear I got a rose from a __50__ someone as much as I was. I was on cloud nine(興奮) for weeks.
I __51__ did figure out who was it who sent me that rose. __52__ I did figure something else out. It didn't __53__ if it was a guy who secretly __54__ me who sent me that rose. What mattered was that it was from someone who __55__ about me and wanted to brighten up my day.

【小題1】考查動詞搭配:A. brighten up點(diǎn)亮,B. fill up填滿,C. take up從事,D. decorate up裝飾,后文有提示,作者想要一朵玫瑰來使自己在情人節(jié)心情愉快。 選A
前面,B. until直到,C. when當(dāng)…
本題中B 項(xiàng)干擾性最大,由下文...and read what it said 可知,此時還沒到讀的時候。選A
選A
本題中A、B 兩項(xiàng)干擾性較大,inform sb. of sth.“告知某人某事”; remind sb. of sth.“提醒某人某事”,雖然符合搭配,但意義不符合語境。
選A
【小題16】考查副詞:A. anyhow不管怎樣,B. still 仍然,C. already已經(jīng),D. never從不,從下文可知,作者一直沒有搞清楚到底是誰送的花。
For因?yàn)椋珺. So所以C. Then然后D. for, so 表示前后是因果關(guān)系;then 表示前后是承接關(guān)系,不合語境。選D
【小題18】考查動詞:A. happen發(fā)生,B. matter事情,C. appear似乎D. mean意味著,本句的意思是:是否有人暗戀自己,這并不重要,因此用it doesn't matter if 這一句型。
選A
本題中A、D 項(xiàng)干擾性較大, asked about詢問worry 也跟about 搭配,指“擔(dān)心”;talk about“談?wù)摚懻摗,但顯然不合句意及作者想要表達(dá)的感想。選C

When I walk through the streets of San Francisco’s business districts, white people stare at me as if I were a circus clown.
Their staring eyes don’t see that I get ____1____ A’s in school, or that I am a captain of the football team, or that I belong to ___2____youth organizations. All they see is that I am 6-foot-4, young ,black, and male-----a potential ____3____to them.
White men look at me as if I am up to no good, or as if they are ____4____to me. White women just look at me with____5____, say, sometimes they cross the street when they see my friends and me coming, or walk in the street and only get back on the sidewalk after we ____6____.
Many people come to San Francisco to get away from the stereotypes(成見) of the cities they were born and ____7_____ in. The majority of the blacks and Latinos who live in this city don’t have that luxury.
How can you feel at home when people are_____8_____telling you to get back to Africa or Mexico ----or just back to “where you belong”?
My way of dealing with this kind of thing has _____9_____over the years. In the past, when my friends and I would walk the streets and a hundred pairs of white eyes would look at me as if we were the lowest form of dirt, it would make us angry enough to hurt or ____10____them.
Now I’m more likely to use ____11____ to defend myself against those eyes. To women who clutch their purse in terror, I’ll say, “Man, I ain’t gonna do anything to you, I got money in my pocket!” My cousin has even started wearing a T-shirt ____12_____ in big letters, “NO, WHITE LADY, I DON'T’ WANT YOUR PURSE.”
The most painful thing is when we get those___13____ stares from black people, especially elderly ones. I want o say to them, “We’re black too. Why would we do something to you?”
Usually I react more ____14____to all of this than a lot of my friends do. Some of them, so brainwashed, just think it’s part of life and that there is nothing you can do.
But for me, that’s not good enough. I just can’t stand it when every day a hundred pair of eyes tell you you’re not_____15_____.

It snowed almost every day for the next four months, while I sat on the couch and watched it   3 .
