【題目】 One of the things that I have learned during my time here is that Czech people are really good at celebrating and holding parties. Since I graduated this year, I have a lot of experience of seeing this first-hand. The greatest event for us was definitely the prom (畢業(yè)舞會) held for graduating students. Girls started arranging their gowns (禮服) a year beforehand. Graduating students also needed to give their “Midnight Surprise” (a group performance). One interesting thing was that students from every class were holding a huge colorful bag and people had to throw money into it. I didn’t get any sleep that night because we all went to an after-party with our teachers and friends.

At the end of April, we held the traditional activity called “The Last Ringing”, which lasted for two days. Every class had a theme and graduates wore different costumes. We prepared tasty desserts and food to sell. We broke into one classroom after another asking students to give us money, which might seem insane but it is part of the tradition.

By the end of May, we had already finished all of the final exams and we started preparing for the graduation ceremony. It was held in the conference hall (會場) in our school at five o’clock in the afternoon. Parents could come, too. We got our graduation certificate in a gray folder (文件夾) from our class teacher, and we also shook hands with the headmaster. When I received my certificate, I almost teared up-I didn’t want to say goodbye to them or to the school.

That wasn’t the last celebration though. After four days, our class invited all of our teachers to come to a farewell dinner at an Italian restaurant. We used all of the money we collected from the prom and “The Last Ringing” to order pizzas and champagne. We all talked and ate together.

A year ago, we were all complaining and hoping that high school would end. But I felt sad when the time finally came and it was over. We have officially left our school. I keep telling myself that everything has an ending. This journey was amazing. Although it has come to an end, I will always keep the memories I made close to my heart. I won’t ever forget them.

【題目】Direction: Read the following passage. Summarize the main idea and the main file of the passage in no more than 60 words. Use your own words as far as possible.

Declining mental function is often seen as a problem of old age, but certain aspects of brain function actually begin their decline in young adulthood, a new study suggests.

The study, which followed more than 2,000 healthy adults between the ages of 18 and 60, found that certain mental functions—including measures of abstract reasoning, mental speed and puzzle-solving—started to dull as early as age 27. Dips in memory, meanwhile, generally became apparent around age 37.

On the other hand, indicators of a person’s accumulated knowledge—like performance on tests of vocabulary and general knowledge—kept improving with age, according to the findings published in the journal Neurobiology of Aging. The results do not mean that young adults need to start worrying about their memories. Most people’s minds function at a high level even in their later years, according to researcher Timothy Salthouse.

“These patterns suggest that some types of mental flexibility decrease relatively early in adulthood, but that the amount of knowledge one has, and the effectiveness of integrating it with one’s abilities, may increase throughout all of adulthood if there are no diseases,” Salthouse said in a news release.

The study included healthy, educated adults who took standard tests of memory, reasoning and perception at the outset and at some point over the next seven years. The tests are designed to detect subtle (細微的) changes in mental function, and involve solving puzzles, recalling words and details from stories, and identifying patterns in collections of letters and symbols. In general, Salthouse and his colleagues found, certain aspects of cognition (認知能力) generally started to decline in the late 20s to 30s. The findings shed light on normal age-related changes in mental function, which could aid in understanding the process of dementia (癡呆), according to the researchers.

【題目】Forest Schools originated in Sweden in the 1950s and spread to other countries, particularly Denmark where they have become an important part of the Danish early years program.

In a typical Danish Forest School, young children from 3 years are taken into the forest for 4 hours each day of the week. They take no toys with them, but instead use only what the forest provides (and their imaginations) to develop their games. There is a primitive hut in the forest, which is used in extreme weather. Activities are childled and fun, such as finding small animals or stomping in puddles. Because of high adult to child ratios, children can safely try out activities which are often considered too dangerous, such as climbing trees or lighting fires, and by dressing the children in good protective clothing, they are able to play freely. By setting children small manageable tasks at which they are unlikely to fail, and giving genuine praise, children’s independence and confidence grow.

A Swedish scientific study found that children in the Forest School are more balanced and socially capable, have fewer sick days, are more able to concentrate and have better coordination than the city nursery children. The primary reason appeared to be the greater opportunities to play in nature, so that children play for longer at a time, tending not to disturb each other as much as children in the city nursery. The study observed that where children were interrupted, they became irritable, their stress level rose, and their ability to concentrate fell.

The study also showed that the Forest School children had 25% fewer sick days than the city children. One reason for this is that the air is nearly always better outside than indoors. Outside a child is not so exposed to virus and bacteria and not so likely to be infected by other children. Another reason may be that, since stress has been shown to have a negative effect on the immune system, high stress levels may be weakening the city children. The Forest School children, on the other hand are in a pleasant, natural, fun and less stressful environment.

1What kind of activities do the Forest School children have?

A. Activities usually played by braver kids.

B. Activities which are designed for adults.

C. Gradeimproving activities.

D. Activities with fun and a certain level of danger.

2The Forest School children are more able to concentrate because ________.

A. they have more interesting things to do

B. they are accompanied by adults

C. they are not disturbed so often

D. they are playing in small groups

3What does the last paragraph intend to tell us?

A. Why the Forest School children are healthier.

B. The Forest School children have a healthy diet.

C. What affects the city children.

D. Why the Forest School children have less stress.

4Which of the following best describes the Forest School children?

A. Free and wild.

B. Confident and happy.

C. Polite and calm.

D. Strong and adventurous.

【題目】Hip-hop culture covers many fields; it includes spoken words, break-dancing, beat-making, painting, fashion, lively design, technology, and more. Hip-hop is becoming the unofficial music in the education world, as more artists launch school programs, summer camps, and other activities connected city youth in the classroom through the beliefs of hip-hop culture. Even more and more university teachers — who once would have been strongly against hip-hop — have joined the crew. In the past two decades, hip-hop culture, including hip-hop education, has become a legitimate(合法的) field of study in universities and the subject of numerous books.

Hip-hop culture has influenced every piece of American and global culture because the culture is so prevalent. Teachers must be willing to engage in it if it's part of the unique reality of their students' lives. That way, teachers can truly be effective, reaching students in a meaningful, culturally connected way.

Teachers might at first feel frightened by hip-hop culture, an area in which they might not have previous knowledge or experience. But a lack of knowledge is actually a blessing; the best trained hip-hop educators have been those that are at the beginning disconnected(分離的) from the culture. One of the biggest sayings in hip-hop is “keep it real”. If a teacher comes to the classroom and says, “I don' t know hip-hop, but I recognize that it's your culture and I want to learn,” the kids will teach the teacher, and then the students will be more willing to learn from that educator. Hip-hop is about a respect for youth culture.

1Those who once most probably disagree with hip-hop education are ___________.

A. middle school teachers B. unofficial artists

C. the young living in cities D. university teachers

2The underlined word “prevalent” in Paragraph 2 most probably means ____________.

A. familiar B. similar

C. popular D. regular

3The author finds teachers’ lacking in hip-hop culture might be beneficial because _________.

A. students will frighten teachers at school

B. teachers can learn from students in the field

C. teachers will connected the culture with lessons

D. teachers’ knowledge or experience will be enriched

4Who would the young like to learn from?

A. Those who respect their culture.

B. Those who are interested in music.

C. Those who keep their character real.

D. Those who are willing to learn from others.
