故將our改為their。
故將could改為can。
故將Therefore改為However。

For generations, students were taught to stretch before playing games. Then the practice fell out of favor. Studies seemed to show that such stretching temporarily reduces muscular power, weakens athletic performance and increases the risk of injury. So most fitness experts currently advise against stretches before exercise. But now a new research indicates that they might not be such a bad idea after all.
This month, the journal, Applied Physiology, Nutrition and Metabolism (APNM), published a study by four distinguished exercise scientists who analyzed more than 200 studies of how stretching affects the following exercise. In broad terms, they found that stretching can briefly prevent the ability to generate power. So if you reach for your toes and hold that position, tightening your hamstrings (腿筋), you might not then be able to leap as high or start a dash as forcefully as you don’t stretch.
Those undesirable effects were generally found, however, only if each stretch was held for more than 60 seconds and the subject then immediately became fully active, with no further warm-up. “Outside the lab, most people are unlikely to hold a warm-up stretch for longer than about 30 seconds.” Dr. McHugh, the co-author of the study says. The review found few lasting negative impacts from these short stretches, especially if the volunteers followed that stretching with several minutes of jogging or other basic warm-up movements. In fact, these short stretches turned out to have a positive effect.
Do these findings mean that all the athletes should stretch in advance before a match? “Not necessarily,” Dr. McHugh says, “Runners and cyclists don’t have much risk for acute muscle injuries.” Stretching before these activities is unlikely to protect against injury. Runners and cyclists can adequately warm up by jogging or pedaling lightly. But he suggests that people who play basketball and other ball sports should stretch in advance. Those who haven’t stretched since childhood gym class might want to consider consulting an athletic trainer about the best upper and lower body stretches, particularly for the shoulders and hamstrings.

Some scientists were studying sea turtles in Costa Rica in Central America. Suddenly they found one turtle had something sticking out of its nose. It could not breathe. At first, the scientists thought it was a worm. But when they pulled the object out, it was a plastic straw(吸管).
After the scientists made sure the turtle was healthy, they helped it back into the water. They posted a video of the rescue on the Internet. When people saw it, they were shocked.
The video motivated Diana Lofflin to start StrawFree.org. The group is in California. Its goal is to make people aware of (意識到)the harm plastic straws cause to the environment. Lofflin hopes people will find alternatives(可選擇的事物)to plastic straws.
Sipping from a straw is fun. But think twice. Giving up that plastic straw can help protect the environment. Saying no to a plastic straw is a way to make a difference in the world.
A movement to ban(禁止)plastic straws is growing. In California, it is illegal for food servers to give straws to customers who don’t ask for them. Seattle, Washington, has banned all plastic utensils(器具).
Plastic straws are put out for the taking in many restaurants. But some states no longer allow it.
Starbucks is banning plastic straws. The company says it will stop handing out plastic straws in all its stores by 2020. With 28,000 stores, that’s about 1 billion fewer straws a year. How will you sip your drink? The company has made a new lid for its cups, like those used by little kids. Unlike straws, the new lid can be recycled.
Nancy Wallace works for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, in Washington, D.C. She says schools should reduce the amount of plastic they use. Kids must do their part, too. Plastic litter gets into rivers, lakes, and oceans. If fish and other animals eat it ,they will be killed. Wallace says : “We’re pinning our hopes on the next generation to help solve this problem.”
【1】Why did the scientists post a video of rescuing the turtle on the Internet?
A.To make a big difference all over the world.
B.To make the people shocked while seeing it.
C.To ban plastic straws in California and other states.
D.To arouse people’s awareness of environmental protection.
【2】What does the underlined word “motivated ” in Paragragh 3 refer to ?
A.Helped.B.Allowed.

I received a handwritten letter from the friend last week. I got one or two when I was a child but I ever expected to receive one again. In this rapid changing world, in most case we use social media to keep in touch. The letter reminds me that written letters still exist. People today are connected more, and the pictures I post on our social media are widely viewed by people. However, letters are represent a slow pace and allow us control what we tell our friends. On this way, our conversations don't involve so many things, but the slow pace makes the contact long-lasting.

Our news is constantly filled with the reality of death and dying. And each of us, if we live long enough, experiences the loss of persons we loved. Children ages eight through ten were asked what they thought about death, and these are some of their answers:
“When you die,God takes care of you like your mother did. When you were alive, only God doesn’t yell at you all the time.’’(Beth,9)
“When you die, they bury you in the ground and your soul goes to heaven, but your body can’t go to heaven because it’s too crowded there already.” (Jimmy, 8)
“Only the good people go to heaven. The other people go where it’s hot all the time like in Florida. ” (Judy,9)
“Doctors help you so you won’t die until you pay their bills.”(Stephanie,9)
I've observed that the loss of a loved one can be one of the most difficult things we humans can face. I’ve known friends of sick and dying people to sit by a bedside or in a hospital room for hours, even days, at a time. I've seen food in homes of people who are dying overflow from kitchen to dining room—food brought by comforting friends from church and con cerned neighbours. And I've observed friends just listen for as long as it takes.
When U.S. Congressman Sam Rayburn (1882—1961) discovered that he was ill,he announced to the House of Representatives he was going home to Texas for medical tests. No one wants to go through difficult times alone. So Rayburn traded the best of medical technology for the closeness of loving friends. He knew that good friends are good medicine. Often the best.
