Tips on How to Motivate a Team

Leadership is an art of making the work easier and more fun and motivating your team to succeed. If you want to get your team excited to face the next challenge, look through the following steps.

Set realistic goals. 1. For example,if you have a project that needs completing, create a chart that breaks the project into smaller goals so that,as they achieve each step, they can check it off and see themselves getting closer to completing the project.

2. So if it is somebody’s birthday or someone just got married or had a baby, make them feel special and important. 3.—do whatever is appropriate for the occasion,as long as you are respecting that person’s privacy.

Create social events outside of work.Motivate your team by not having everything be all about work, work, work. 4. Have members go out for lunch in groups every two weeks instead of everyone going separate ways,so people are more motivated to work hard because they’ll know each other better.

Be a good role model. As a person that each individual team member can look up to,you don’t have to be perfect, but you should be hard-working,reasonable,willing to communicate, and generally a smart, reliable employee. 5.

A.Make your team members feel recognized.

B.Get the team to work together.

C.Have monthly happy hours to let the members of your team relax a bit.

D.If you’re not showing the very quality that your team should possess, then why will they follow you?

E.Know what your team is capable of and provide a tool that shows their progress.

F.Email your best wishes and bring in a cake.

G.Get people walking around instead of over chat or email.

I once had a friend that was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and the news that he might only live up to six months was a great shock to him,his family, and his friends. However,in spite of the serious illness,he was initially determined to look into all available treatments that might cure or extend his life.I think that when you find yourself in such situations, you tend to look up every possible way for hope of saving your life.

As months went on and his health grew worse,I noticed an unexpected change in attitude that came over him.He had also been a happy person with a cheerful personality, but rather than give in to discouragement and self-pity,he took comfort in God and humanity. His talks focused on others rather than himself, and he spoke of the afterlife as something he was prepared for, believing that his concerned ancestors, including his mother and father, were there waiting for him.

During the last few months, weeks, and days of his life,he was kindly cared for by friends, his loving wife, who looked after both his physical and emotional needs, and workers from a local hospice(安養(yǎng)院) came to the home to regulate his medication and provide any other needed support. He didn’t complain about his fate, and he willingly allowed others to serve him.

Indeed, one might think why God allows death and suffering in our world, but for me,such experiences taught me to value family more and kindness for others. You can’t often learn these important attributes in the lap of luxury, and perhaps, such an experience is the greatest and final gift the illness can give those left behind.

People are being lured(引誘) onto Facebook with the promise of a fun, free service without realizing they're paying for it by giving up large amounts of personal information. Facebook then attempts to make money by selling their data to advertisers that want to send targeted messages.

Most Facebook users don't realize this is happening. Even if they know what the company is up to, they still have no idea what they're paying for Facebook because people don't really know what their personal data is worth.

The biggest problem, however, is that the company keeps changing the rules. Early on, you keep everything private. That was the great thing about Facebook—you could create your own little private network. Last year, the company changed its privacy rules so that many things—your city, your photo, your friends' names—were set, by default(默認) to be shared with everyone on the Internet.

According to Facebook's vice-president Elliot Schrage, the company is simply making changes to improve its service, and if people don't share information, they have a “l(fā)ess satisfying experience”.

Some critics think this is more about Facebook looking to make more money. Its original business model, which involved selling ads and putting them at the side of the page, totally failed. Who wants to look at ads when they're online connecting with their friends?

The privacy issue has already landed Facebook in hot water in Washington. In April, Senator(議員) Charles Schumer called on Facebook to change its privacy policy. He also urged the Federal Trade Commission to set principles for social-networking sites. “I think the senator rightly communicated that we had not been clear about what the new products were and how people could choose to use them or not to use them,” Schrage admits.

I suspect that whatever Facebook has done so far to invade our privacy is only the beginning, which is why I'm considering deactivating (撤銷) my account. Facebook is a handy site, but I'm upset by the idea that my information is in the hands of people I don't know. That's too high a price to pay.

1.What do we learn about Facebook from the first paragraph?

A. It is a website that sends messages to targeted users.

B. It makes money by putting on advertisements.

C. It profits by selling its users' personal data.

D. It provides loads of information to its users.

2.Why does Facebook make changes to its rules according to Elliot Schrage?

A. To improve its users' connectivity.

B. To follow the Federal guidelines.

C. To offer better service to its users.

D. To expand its scope of business.

3.What does Senator Charles Schumer advocate?

A. Working out regulations for social-networking sites.

B. Banning the sharing of users' personal information.

C. Removing ads from all social-networking sites.

D. Setting guidelines for advertising on websites.

4.Why does the author plan to cancel his Facebook account?

A. He is dissatisfied with its current service.

B. He doesn't want his personal data abused.

C. He finds many of its senior executives untrustworthy.

D. He is annoyed with its frequent rule changes.
