A.Suggestions on having interviews
B.Be yourself
C.Listen before talking
D.Use your eyes and smile
E.Focus your energy
F.Qualities of good communication
【小題1】_________
Good communication is vital in modern society. We know that much of the communication is unspoken. Consciously or unconsciously, we show our true feelings with our eyes, faces, bodies and attitudes. Your good qualities can make good communication. The personal qualities include physical appearance, energy, rate of speech, pitch and tone of voice, gestures, expressiveness of eyes, and the ability to hold the interest of others. What should we do so that our communication will be effective? Here are my suggestions.
【小題2】_________
Firstly, the trick is to be consistently you, at your best. The most effective people never change character from one situation to another. They’re the same whether they’re having a conversation with their close friends, addressing their garden club or being interviewed for a job. They communicate with their whole being.
【小題3】_________
Secondly, whether you’re talking to one person or one hundred, always remember to look at them. Don’t break eye contact while talking. As you enter a room, move your eyes comfortably, then look directly at those in the room and smile. This shows clearly that you are at ease. Smiling is important. The best type of smile and eye contact is gentle and comfortable, not forced.
【小題4】_________
You should also absorb other people before showing yourself. You can’t learn anything when you talk. When you attend a meeting, a party or an interview, don’t immediately start throwing your opinions. Stop for a second. Absorb what’s going on. What’s the mood of the others – are they down, up, happy, expectant? Are they eager to learn from you, or do they show resistance? If you can sense what’s happening with others, you will be better able to reach them. So, listen before you talk.
【小題5】_________
How do you get your energy up? Before the meeting, collect your thoughts about the goal of the meeting – yours and the other’s. Once you go through the doorway, no longer think about yourself. Focus on the person you are meeting to find out what he is interested in. Properly collected energy comes across when we sincerely believe something. When you speak with energy, you are involved with your audience and your message. You create an air of certainty. The audience may disagree with you, but they can’t question your belief.
【小題1】F
【小題2】B
【小題3】D
【小題4】C
【小題5】E

Easy Ways to Keep Your Brain Sharp
Everyone is forgetful, but as we age(變老), we start to feel like our brains are slowing down a bit—and that can be a very annoying thing. 【小題1】 Read on for some techniques worth trying.
1. 【小題2】
People who regularly made plans and looked forward to upcoming events had a 50 percent reduced chance of Alzheimer's disease (早老性癡呆癥), according to a recent study. 【小題3】 Something as simple as setting a goal to have a weekly coffee date with a friend will do. There's evidence that people who have a purpose in life or who are working on long or short-term goals appear to do better. In other words, keep your brain looking forward.
2. Go for a walk
Mildly raised glucose (葡萄糖) levels can harm the area of the brain that helps you form memories and physical activity can help get blood glucose down to normal levels. In fact, exercise produces chemicals that are good for your brain. 【小題4】
3. Learn something new
Take a Spanish class online, join a drawing club, or learn to play cards. A study found that mental stimulation (刺激) limits the weakening effects of aging on memory and the mind. But the best thing for your brain is when you learn something new and are physically active at the same time. 【小題5】 Or go dancing with your friends.
A.Focus on the future. |
B.This can be especially harmful to the aged. |

How do successful people think? What helps them to make success? To find out the answers, an American scholar recently visited some of the most successful people in America. 【小題1】
Be responsible for yourselfwww.zxxk.com
Sometimes you may want to blame others for your failure to get ahead. 【小題2】 You’re saying, “You have more control over my life than I do.”
Live life “on purpose”
Almost all successful people live life “on purpose”— they are doing what they believe they should and want to do. When you live your life on purpose, you’ll try your best to do your job or study as well as you can. You love what you do and you can find pleasure in what you do.
Write a plan
It is very difficult trying to get what you want without a good plan. 【小題3】 A good plan is like a map to you. Without this “map”, you may waste your time, money and also your energy; while with the “map” you’ll enjoy the “trip” and get what you want in the shortest possible time.
Be willing to pay the price
Nothing great is easy to get. So you must be ready to work hard — even harder than you have ever done. If you are not willing to pay the price, you won’t get anything valuable.
Never give up
【小題4】 When you are doing something, you must tell yourself again and again: Giving up is worse than failure because failure can be the mother of success, but giving up means the death of hope.
【小題5】
Once an American writer was writing a novel. He could not have a good ending for his book until one night when he had a very good idea. He was so excited that he made a phone call to one of his best friends. “I’ve got a perfect idea,” he said, “I’ll put it down later and show it to you.” But he never did, because he died that night. His book was left without a perfect ending. So remember, do what you can right away. Never delay at all. www.zxxk.com

Amazon Introduces a Digital Music Locker
Amazon.com, plans to introduce a service that will let people upload their digital music to the Web from anywhere. 【小題1】
The service, known as a music locker, was made available to Amazon account holders early Tuesday.Amazon will offer a Web-based hard drive backup service called Cloud Drive, where people can store documents, photos, videos and music.
It will also offer Cloud Player, which will let people listen to, download and make play lists from the music they store on Cloud Drive from any Web site or from an app on Android devices.Cloud Player will automatically upload songs bought on Amazon. 【小題2】
【小題3】 One key difference is that Google and Apple reportedly want to automatically make all the music that a user owns available to stream on other instruments, while Amazon will require that people upload music, except songs they buy on Amazon, to access it elsewhere.
The dream of these companies, along with many start-ups, is for people to be able to listen to their music from any computer or phone. 【小題4】 Several experts in digital music say that the music locker business is still legally ambiguous. 【小題5】
Amazon says it has avoided the problem, because its users would upload their songs, in MP3 to the cloud-based service, just like backing them up on an external (outside) hard drive or a Web-based computer backup service.
Companies, including Google and Spotify have been forced to delay introducing certain services while they negotiate with the music labels and publishers.

Are you cooperative? Are you a good team member? If so, the future may hold more for you than you think.
【小題1】 That' s happening in those areas of business and data processing where one person and a computer can replace a team of workers.
But, elsewhere, teamwork is very much alive. High technology has led to a new type of teamwork in a number of fields, including advertising, scientific research, engineering design, architecture and ocean exploration.
Through computer networking, scientists, engineers and technicians at different locations —often thousands of miles apart —can work on the same project at once. 【小題2】
Examples— An engineering team can now design and try out a robot system ?a new manufacturing process or an entire factory —before it is built. 【小題3】 A medical team can simulate (模擬) a dangerous operation before performing it on a patient.
Of course, computer-assisted team effort doesn't end with investigation and simulation. 【小題4】 "CAD-CAM —computer-aided design and manufacture—is breaking down barriers between traditional design and manufacturing functions," explains Dr. Prakash Rao, an engineering manager at General Electric." Interdisciplinary (跨學科的) teams and engineers follow a product from concept to production. Everything is interconnected like a network. "
Sometimes, a computer-aided effort can extend beyond production. A team that produces robots may use them to explore space and ocean depths. 【小題5】
A.They can exchange ideas, try out different designs and test their results. |
B.In the future, teamwork will be highlighted by the introduction of new technology. |
C.An architectural team can do the same with a building or a bridge. |
D.It ends in the products which are extensions of the traditional design. |

Don’t you feel drained(勞累) after a couple of hours of watching TV? Your eyes are sore and tired of being focused on the light box for so long. When you feel like relaxing, try reading a book instead. If you’re too tired, listen to some music. When you’re with your friends or family, leave the tube off and have a conversation. Exercise.

Early to bed, early to rise.
【小題5】 You’ll be the most energetic if you go to bed early and don’t sleep for more than 8 hours. In my experience the early morning hours are the most productive. If you have the opportunity, take a 10-20 minute nap(小憩) when you are hit with a wave of drowsiness(睡意).
