Americans use the term “college students” to mean students either in colleges or universities. Not only that, Americans almost never say “going off to university” or “when I was in university. ”That sounds British.   【小題1】
College, university: what’s the difference?   【小題2】 . Both offer undergraduate degrees in the arts and sciences, for example. And both can help prepare young people to earn a living.
But many colleges do not offer graduate studies. Another difference is that universities are generally bigger.   【小題3】
Another place of higher education, especially in technical areas, is an institute, like the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Yet even an institute of technology can offer a wide choice of programs and activities.
Modern universities developed from those of Europe in the Middle Ages. The word “university” came from the Latin universities, describing a group of people organized for a common purpose.  【小題4】 . In England, colleges were formed to provide students with places to live. Usually each group was studying the same thing. So college came to mean an area of study.
The first American universities divided their studies into a number of areas and called each one a college. This is still true.   【小題5】 . For example, Harvard College is the undergraduate part of Harvard University.
Programs in higher learning can also be called schools, like a school of engineering or a medical school within a college or university. You know, learning all these terms is an education in itself.
A. A college can also be a part of a university.
B. There are more universities than colleges in the USA.
C. They offer more programs and do more research.
D. “College” came from collegium, a Latin word with a similar meaning.
E. Universities and colleges offer students different opportunities.
F. Instead, they say “going off to college” and “when I was in college.”
G. Colleges and universities have many things in common.

【小題2】G考查上下文的語境理解及邏輯推理。根據后文Both offer undergraduate degrees in the arts and sciences, for example. And both can help prepare young people to earn a living.可知,談得是兩者的共同點。故選主題句G
【小題3】C考查上下文的語境理解及邏輯推理。根據前文But many colleges do not offer graduate studies.可知,college不提供進一步學習。而universities則提供更多的課程和研究。故選C。
【小題4】D考查上下文的語境理解及邏輯推理。根據前文The word “university” came from the Latin universities, describing a group of people organized for a common purpose.可知,前后對應都說各自的來源。故選D

It often seems that people have a hard time in speaking a seemingly familiar name. Did you ever have someone's name on the tip of your tongue and yet you were not able to recall it? When this happened, what did you do? Next time this happens again, what should you do?
You should not try to recall it. Instead, just do something else for a couple of minutes and then the name may come into your head. Why? The name is just there, since you have met this person and learned his name. It, waiting there, only has to be dug out. The initial(最初的) effort to recall prepares the mind for operation, but it is the subconscious (下意識的) activities that go to work to dig up a dim(模糊的)memory. Forcing yourself to recall almost never helps because it doesn't loosen your memory; it only tightens it.
That’s why students find the preparatory method greatly helpful in examinations. They read over the questions before trying to answer any of them. Then they answer first the ones of which they are most confident. At the same time, deeper mental activities in the subconscious mind are taking place; work is being done on the more difficult questions. By the time the easier questions are answered, answers to the more difficult ones will usually begin to come into consciousness. It is often just a question of waiting for recall to come to the memory.
You see, forcing ourselves to think hard to recall something usually doesn’t help. Chances are that the harder we think, the more difficulty we face in thinking of what we want to. Offering our mind time to work is what we are expected to do.

Healthy Relationship  Tips
Healthy relationships are effortless, if both the people involved take equal effort to maintain it.Here are a few healthy relationship tips to help you build the dream of your life.
【小題1】
Communication is an art of putting your thoughts into words, so that they are exactly understood by the opposite person. Communication does not mean going on talking unnecessarily. This is the first mistake that couples make. One person in the relationship assumes the role of talker and the other becomes the listener. Their roles remain so forever. The talker  forgets to listen and the listener becomes used to listening and not reacting. If your partner takes time to open up, help them out by asking questions. So hear them out and give proper reactions. You will obtain the benefits of a healthy relationship through increased confidence in both of you to open up and hear things out.
【小題2】
Regular conversations take the form of heated arguments amongst many couples. Understand that not every statement needs a reaction. Maybe a certain reaction may lead to an argument with your partner. Just agree with whatever ii is and there will be no harm done. Try and reach a  mutual(相互的) agreement. If that's not possible leave the topic for later. If you give it time, maybe both of you will be able to think about it rationally.             '
【小題3】
Every single day is a blessing. Each moment with your partner is a moment to learn something new and discover the finer nuances (細微差別) of your relationships. Each one of us keeps changing every day, the circumstances around us change every day and with that our attitude also needs to change. The same applies when you are living with a person. Learning every day and taking every day as a challenge will help you perfect healthy relationship tips.
【小題4】
This tip is especially meant for couples with children on how to maintain healthy relationships After a certain period, couples complain about romance being lost. To keep your relationship healthy, take some time out from your day-to-day routines to spend some quality time with your partner. This can be done as dinners, indulging in outdoor activities or just hanging out at a coffee shop like old times.
【小題5】
Respect has to be earned. It can only be earned only if you learn to respect. Often, one of the partners plays the role of a dictator to give orders, while the other simply follows. Both sides involved are equally responsible for this mistake, Learn to respect each other-and understand that both of you are equally responsible for the relationship.
Creating a healthy relationship takes equal effort from both sides. Sharing, caring, being     apologetic, forgiving and having realistic expectations are some of the important ingredients to the recipe of a healthy relationship.

A.Suggestions on having interviews
B.Be yourself
C.Listen before talking
D.Use your eyes and smile
E.Focus your energy
F.Qualities of good communication
【小題1】_________
Good communication is vital in modern society. We know that much of the communication is unspoken. Consciously or unconsciously, we show our true feelings with our eyes, faces, bodies and attitudes. Your good qualities can make good communication. The personal qualities include physical appearance, energy, rate of speech, pitch and tone of voice, gestures, expressiveness of eyes, and the ability to hold the interest of others. What should we do so that our communication will be effective? Here are my suggestions.
【小題2】_________
Firstly, the trick is to be consistently you, at your best. The most effective people never change character from one situation to another. They’re the same whether they’re having a conversation with their close friends, addressing their garden club or being interviewed for a job. They communicate with their whole being.
【小題3】_________
Secondly, whether you’re talking to one person or one hundred, always remember to look at them. Don’t break eye contact while talking. As you enter a room, move your eyes comfortably, then look directly at those in the room and smile. This shows clearly that you are at ease. Smiling is important. The best type of smile and eye contact is gentle and comfortable, not forced.
【小題4】_________
You should also absorb other people before showing yourself. You can’t learn anything when you talk. When you attend a meeting, a party or an interview, don’t immediately start throwing your opinions. Stop for a second. Absorb what’s going on. What’s the mood of the others – are they down, up, happy, expectant? Are they eager to learn from you, or do they show resistance? If you can sense what’s happening with others, you will be better able to reach them. So, listen before you talk.
【小題5】_________
How do you get your energy up? Before the meeting, collect your thoughts about the goal of the meeting – yours and the other’s. Once you go through the doorway, no longer think about yourself. Focus on the person you are meeting to find out what he is interested in. Properly collected energy comes across when we sincerely believe something. When you speak with energy, you are involved with your audience and your message. You create an air of certainty. The audience may disagree with you, but they can’t question your belief.

However, how do we know if our friends have faith in us?

Whom do you look up to for advice when you need it the most? It has to be either your parents or your friends. 【小題3】This is a shining example of trust.
