6.Was it _______ he said ______ disappointed you?( )
A.what; whichB.what; thatC.that; whatD.that; that

分析 是他說的話讓你很失望嗎?

解答 答案:B,考查強(qiáng)調(diào)句式的用法,句子使用強(qiáng)調(diào)句的一般疑問句was it…that…,因此第二空使用that來引導(dǎo);句子強(qiáng)調(diào)的是主語,從句缺少said的賓語,因此使用what來引導(dǎo)主語從句,故答案為B.

點(diǎn)評 考查強(qiáng)調(diào)句式的用法,注意其構(gòu)成形式:it is+被強(qiáng)調(diào)部分+that/who+其他成分.

17.The Rugby (英式橄欖球) World Cup is currently being held in New Zealand.The tournament,due to finish on October 23,is living up to the famous English saying,"Rugby is a thug's (暴徒) game played by gentlemen."
The games are physically aggressive; the tackles (沖撞) on the pitch are brutal; but the end of each match is a civilized affair.Players shake hands and applaud each other.Of course,the other side to this saying is:"Football is a gentleman's game played by thugs."Indeed,unlike soccer players,rugby players don't often question the referee's (裁判員) decisions or pretend to be injured when they are not.
"Football could learn a lot from rugby,"said Brian Moore,a former England rugby player"The wonderful spirit of rugby is:there is a gentlemanly code to it.You play hard on the pitch,but you always respect your opponent.

Most professional rugby players are large,strong and weigh over 90kilograms.People who play the sport need to be tough and be prepared to get hurt.Black eyes,broken bones,lost teeth and being knocked unconscious-all these are common injuries.Former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown is blind in one eye thanks to a rugby accident at school.
In England,children begin playing the game at school at the age of 8.When they enter high school,many begin to play full contact rugby.Children are taught to play for around one hour a week during their PE lessons.Most schools have a rugby team.Children who play for the school team are usually the sportiest kids,and are seen as brave and athletic.

41. What can be concluded from the first three paragraphs?B
A.Football players are not real gentlemen.

A.prove that playing rugby can earn people fame
B.explain why Gordon Brown is blind in one eye

18.Do you know of anyone who uses the truth to deceive (欺騙)?When someone tells you something that is true, but leaves out important information that should be included,he can give you a false picture.
For example, some might say,"I just won a hundred dollars on the lottery (彩票).It was great.I took that dollar ticket back to the store and turned it in for one hundred dollars!"
This guy is a winner, right?Maybe, maybe not.We then discover that he bought  $200 worth of tickets, and only one was a winner. He's really a big loser!
He didn't say anything that was false, but he left out important information on purpose. That's called a half-truth.Half-truths are not technically lies, but they are just as dishonest.
Some politicians often use this trick.Let's say that during Governor Smith's last term, her state lost one million jobs and gained three million jobs. Then she seeks another term. One of her opponents says,"During Governor Smith's term, the state lost one million jobs!"That's true. However,an honest statement would have been,"During Governor Smith's term, the state had a net gain of two million jobs."
Advertisers will sometimes use half-truths.It's against the law to make false statements,so they try to mislead you with the truth. An advertisement might say,"Nine out of ten doctors advised their patients to take Yucky Pills to cure toothache."It fails to mention that they only asked ten doctors and nine of them work for the Yucky Company.
This kind of deception happens too often. It's a sad fact of life:Lies are lies, and sometimes the truth can lie as well.
29.We may infer that the author believes people shouldD
A.buy lottery tickets if possible
B.make use of half-truths
C.be careful about what they are told
D.not trust the Yucky Company
30.How many examples does the writer give to show how the truth is used to deceive?C
A.one             B.Two              C.Three             D.Four
31.Which of the following is true according to the passage?D
A.Using half truths is against the law.
B.Technically, half truths are in fact lies.
C.Yucky Pills is a very good medicine for toothache.
D.Governor Smith did a good job during her last term.

15.Career success could be predicted as early as kindergarten,according to a 20-year study recently published in the American Journal of Public Health.
Researchers from Pennsylvania State University and Duke University tracked more than 700children from across the US between kindergarten and age 25and found a significant correlation(相關(guān)性) between their social skills as kindergartners and their success as adults two decades later.
In 1991,teachers assessed how the kindergartners interacted with each other socially using a range of criteria like whether they cooperate with their peers without prompting(激勵),if they're helpful to others,whether they're good at understanding feelings,and if they can solve problems on their own.
Researchers then kept track of whether the students went on to graduate high school on time,get a college degree,and find and keep a full-time job by 25.They also monitored the participants'involvement with crime,drug abuse,public assistance,and mental health issues.
The results showed that socially competent children were far more likely to earn a college degree and have a full-time job by 25than those with limited social skills.Those with limited social skills also had a higher chance of getting arrested,binge(放縱) drinking,and applying for public housing.
"This study shows that helping children develop social and emotional skills is one of the most important things we can do to prepare them for a healthy future,"said Kristin Schubert,program director at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation,which funded the research,in a release."From an early age,these skills can determine whether a child goes to college or prison,and whether they end up employed or addicted."The good news,according to Damon Jones,lead author of the study,is that intervention(干預(yù)) at a young age can help improve social and emotional skills."This research by itself doesn't prove that higher social competence can lead to better outcomes later on,"he said."But when combined with other research,it is clear that helping children develop these skills increases their chances of success in school,work,and life."
8.What has the 20-year study found?D
A.Most kindergartners can solve problems alone.
B.Helpful children understand others feeling better.
C.Outgoing children cooperate with their peers easily.
D.Social skills play a key role in children's development.
9.Paragraph 3and 4are mainly about?C
A.when the researchers began their study
B.how long it took to complete the study
C.how the researchers conducted the study
D.what factors were studied by the experts
10.What should parents do to help their children to succeed according to Kristin Schubert?A
A.Teach them how to cooperate with others.
B.Teach them some basic living skills.
C.Tell them to keep off alcohol.
D.Coach them in their lessons.
11.The text makes very good sense toB.

16.Children in kindergarten are learning social skills.For this reason,it's important to tell the children what will make them become good citizens when they grow up.It's up to parents,teachers and all others involved with a kid to teach these skills.
Teaching kids to pick up things by themselves is a good way to teach them not to throw things on the ground.For example,if a class has to make paper cutouts (剪下的圖樣),after cutting,have the children pick up the wastepaper and place it in the wastebasket.
The golden rule of good citizenship should be taught at this age.The rule is"One should treat others as one would like others to treat oneself".Teachers should ask their students how they want to be treated.There are many answers,such as not being treated in bad manners.The teacher should explain that others don't like to be scared,so you should not scare others either.
Following the laws is good citizenship.Proper games can be played in the classroom.Games have rules,and all students in the class should follow the rules of the games.If a child doesn't want to follow,it is up to the teacher to explain them to the child.Teaching children about following rules should help them understand the need t
o obey the law when they become adults.
